    Greeting from Oregon. To answer your question there is an international movement to add more car free multi use paths that did not exist 20 years ago. All city planners in all countries are currently looking for ways to adding car free paths. It is a beautiful thing.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the reply! I am glad to hear it. Hear in the North West UK we're having a bit of push back against cycle lanes as during covid local councils hastily put them up replacing existing lanes of road, but not necessarily linking up two places people want to travel by bike. So now they sit unused and motorists get the rage about it, so they're removing them. When really they should've considered what they link and where cyclists need to get to etc. I hope we do get back to sensible design and building paths that open up non-motor vehicle transport for more people!

    Hi, thanks for posting this. I've looked at the Sustrans maps and want to cycle the Chester area (arriving by train) on my Brompton so this puts everything into a bit of perspective.

    Enjoyed this video👍Live in North West Wales. Have cycled most paths,lanes, roads within a certain radius I guess. Plan to go on train with bike to maybe Flint or Chester and cycle some of the lanes shown in your video👍🚴

      Thanks Martin! Yeah I know that feeling of having ridden all the tarmac in the area around you, could be a nice day out riding these paths with a good cafe stop in Chester 👌 hope you enjoy if you do it mate!

    Being from Chester im always using them routes because no hassle from traffic! It’s also great to join the Wirral park all the way to west kirby, great if you have the weather.. or you could go the other way to the old station cafe past a fairy garden, ending at hooton.

      They are great aren't they? I tend to avoid the Wirral Way because it gets so muddy and it's slow going with all the pedestrians but I've done it a few times this winter and it really is a great facility.
      Is the old station Hadlow Road at Willaston? Not sure I know the fairy garden past there!

      @@nickbrownbill3413 yes that’s the station has a cafe there. To be fair tho I go the Wirral way and it can be busy ! I aways have the gravel tires on using that route. Nice stop at Thursterton can be great place to chill

    Brilliant for sprint intervals certain sections of that canal as its about 2 miles in a straight line after Sealand Bridge and you can see if theres anyone about, you mite even find me on a random weekday afternoon doing some sprint training and looking nothing at all like Mark Cavandish 😂

    • @nickbrownbill3413
      @nickbrownbill3413  Рік тому +1

      Yeah it is perfect for that, nice flat tarmac, regular lamppost so you can measure your intervals and huge visibility so you know its safe with no traffic etc! I'm sure you'll look more like Cav than me with my soggy little "sprint" 😂

      In general can’t complain about your cycling paths: they look good. Maybe sometimes a bit small and the start/end could be unsafe as its often a direct merger with the main roads

      @@mickboekhoff Cheers Mick, that'd be really interesting. You're quite right, that's something I hadn't really thought of but you're quite right. Lots and lots of sharp stopping because you get spat out at a hard junction with a main road, it feels like town planners don't actually ride bikes or consider that level of what it'd be like to use a cycle path!
