This was a sad episode. It still makes me cry to watch his self-sacrifice after having his fears about Cordie allayed. Even sadder that the actor died not long after and had no chance to get back into acting. Another great react George.
Hugs! The amount of times I ugly cried on Angel and Buffy, oh my, lol.
I’m nervous for what’s to come lol
@@GeorgeAlexander3110 an AMAZING story on both shows with tons of laughs too :). You’ve just just dipped your toe into the deep end of the pool.
Oh no
Please don’t 😭😭
Well hello there Mr. Duke!
You didn’t cry alone… I can never get through that episode without crying. Right there with you George. 💛
😭🖤
Yes, that much positive attention on one of the characters means certain death. You got the vibes right away.
😭💜
Airing this and I Will Remember You back to back was _so mean._
Literally!!
Doyle was my favourite character at this point of the show and honestly had potential to stay number one throughout the series. I agree that he is cute, and I'll miss his homoerotic moments with Angel too. Angel always opened up to him because Doyle can understand his need for atonement.
The buffyverse does not pull punches when it comes to emotional hits. It was tough to watch you get affected so hard by this one -- but it's a testament to the writing and acting and directing that we feel those losses so deeply. Keep the tissues ready at all times: any episode in any season of either series might be the next shocker.
Oh, man, right at the top you mentioned expanding the cast and I knew this was going to be a devastating emotional experience. The episode hits harder for me when I see reactors facing Doyle's sacrifice than when I saw it myself for the first time.
Growing pains are very VERY real...
Of course this had echoes of Torchwood. RTD was a huge Buffy fan and right from the get go said he was going to bring elements of that into the series.
They were very much inspired by Angel as a spinoff for what they wanted to do with Torchwood.
It’s cool to see the links for sure
The way they recontextualize the video at the end is such good storytelling and completely destroys me emotionally lol
I think you're the first reactor I've seen that knew Doyle was going to die that early in the episode.
I’ve see a lot of tv lol and could see they where settting something up but still didn’t prepare me 😭
@@GeorgeAlexander3110It’s hard to be prepared for it. I’m not even prepared years after first seeing it. I always cry.
RIP to Glenn Quinn. He died a few years after any of this but was still very sad nonetheless ☹️😭👍🏾👍🏾
He seemed to lovely so sad
Absolutely brutal, this episode. I loved Doyle so much. And placing this right after the last sob fest was just cruel. More virtual hugs being sent. 💔
Am I done?
Stop 😭😭
Two heartbreakers on the bounce, and you thought episode 8 was sad! Doyle became so popular with the fans this was a hammer blow, especially as Cordelia really wanted him now the writers are so cruel. Such a shame for Glen Quinn in his personal life too leading to an ultimate tragedy so sad. The episode was brilliant in its own right The Scourge obviously mirroring the Nazis with their uniforms and racial purity cult. A great, but sad ending for the fans, the video so sad at the end. Angel was such a brilliant show, watching it the time this episode actually went out we were in a state of pure shock and didn't believe it. Doyle always remembered by Buffyverse fans
"I'll be intrigued to see in future episodes if we keep the same cast..." 😢
The Buffyverse is a cruel and harsh mistress...
Just a bit!
Angel wanted to do it, but Doyle stopped him to do it himself. I believe that Angel would not allow him to do so otherwise, he probably knew that Doyle could have had a future with Cordelia. These three helped each other become better people. At least Doyle was able to redeem himself in his own eyes and get to be proud of himself for once not only as a demon, but by becoming selfless.
Here’s a bit of advise that I’ve learned over the years with watching Buffy/Angel. Always have a box of tissues near by because you’ll never know when the show will devastate you emotionally.
Starting to learn that !
Big hug!
💜
Wonderful reaction and once again you were a mirror image of how acted when this aired. After the last two episodes of Angel, we knew. This was different from Buffy
Absolutely!!
Another good episode > angel definitely a tearjerker ending
2:02 Hmmm funny that you say that...
One of the saddest buffyverse episodes IMO
😭😭💜
Hated to see Doyle go but few have gone better.
