It really isn't... My hair is kinkier than hers but can achieve amazing silkiness & bounce with the right products. She used a lot of products & barely any heat which is why she had those results. But she seems to be happy with the way it turned out so kudos to her (:
Agree, i have similar hair and when i was natural as a kid could get it silky straight with bounce. We always used a hot comb though, perhaps thoose are better for 4 types attempting straight look?
Sim lala Yep! Hot combs can achieve great results if used properly. Tbh you just have to get the hair as straight as possible with a blow dryer to achieve a great silk press.
Comment continued. Y'all expect the woman hair to be bone straight although she has 4c hair, used no additional heat used such as large hood dryer rollers or a blow dryer! She did a great job just needs a trim. Ma'am do you and don't listen to these negative nancies!!
+GlamNP The thing is, there are way to get straighter more sleek hair even if you are 4c. It DEF. won't be the first time you straighten though... since I'm assuming she doesn't straighten often. But after a while, hair will learn how to be straight without heat damage.
GlamNP same way I straighten mine. water based leave in, straightening serum, heat protectant, blow dry with tension method, flat iron with tension method.
+Lyviiz That would probably be my technique as well. But the key words are *Blow Dry* which she did not use, explains the stiffness in hair and maybe the excessive use of products which she already explained why she does it that way. That's my point in my comment. But, "it's not what you say, it's how you say it." Not you, but some of the posters can be down right rude and disrespectful.
I have no clue what all those people below are talking about. The point of straightening your hair is that you get it *straight* :/ and I loved how sleek it was instead of it being puffy. All this talk about body and movement as if our hair is Caucasian - it will never move the same way! Your hair straightened looked nice in my opinion, thanks for sharing!
Actually, my 4C hair is pretty much like Caucasian hair when straightened....so having results that have body and movement is possible, just find a really good iron and a person who knows what they're doing :)
My hair looks the exact same way it is thick when in a natural state but when relaxed or flat ironed it's thin as hell. I just have fine hair strands. Your hair is how it looks in reality. Thanks for that.
@@trudygyrl i don't understand how? Straightening my hair is such a long and tedious process (for me) so if somebody told me it looked worse than my normal hair, I'd be straight hurt 😵
Hey girl! Just a helpful tip: you should use silk infusion before you flat iron your hair because it's a heat protectant and it also is a 6 week treatment for your hair that is activated when u flat iron it.
I have a friend who is a beautician who can get my extreme coily 4C hair bone straight. The problem is any slight moisture that touches my scalp will bring it back to it's coily form thus leaving me to have to try to imitate what my friend did which I absolutely can not do. Also with years of getting burned during hot comb presses when I was kid left me to have a fear of hot things in my head so I just stay away from the straight hair. The only way my hair will stay straight is if I put a relaxer in it and I'm not going back to that,.
While flatironing put perm rods or flexi rods in. Leave them in for a few hours and your hair will be super bouncy with volume. That's I have to do for my 4c hair but you did an awesome job
When I first started straightening my hair it kind of looked like that (yes I have 4c hair) and it is because of all the product in it. It weighed down my hair so much and looked too greasy. A simple change or just reduction of the amount of product you use and more concentration on straightening the full length of the hair properly (mainly meaning the root) will have your hair having soo much more movement and sleekness to it :)
+Loretta Rose Thank you for the tips. I will keep them in mind for next time but generally I find that my hair is extremely stiff and dry (worst than in the video) when I straighten with very little products. Regardless, I will follow some of the pointers given to me. :)
Finally someone close to my hair type! No matter how much I use minimal product, blow dry, small section whatever people wana call it my hair ends up rigid and not silky, its so annoying! Nonetheless we both have beautiful hair :) quick and efficient video xo
This is soon random but I use the silk infusion in my hair and your supposed to put it in after the shower before you blow dry your damp hair then you get really silky hair for when you start to straighten it :):):):) sorry I just wanted to give you a heads up by the way I love your videos keep it up gurl!!!

Teresa Reynoldo I agree with Jessica. Using low heat and a heat protector helps to minimize damage but I think its inevitable. The more you use heat, the greater the chances. I'll make a video once I wash my hair though. Hopefully it reverts back! x
+Teresa Reynoldo If you use a good heat protectant on all strands from root to tip, water will make it revert. Heck, air makes mine start reverting in 5 minutes after flat ironing. That's why its only been done twice!

Miss4C Those are good questions. I followed her videos for when she was doing the protective style challenge and saw that her hair was thinning. I know it's recommended to let your hair breathe and be free for two weeks between doing long term protective styling. Or it could be a diet factor as well.
Miss4C I agree, I try to take care of my hair but I have been a bit lazy with it/busy with school. My hair started thinning before the challenge so I am not going to associate it with the protective styles just yet. I won't do a long term style this summer so I will see if that helps. Hey girl! My hairdresser told me not to use leave in conditioner when i use heat on my hair.. It wil damage it even more.. She told me to use a heatprotector instead
Your hair is beautiful but my sister also has 4c hair and I straighten it, you can definitely get a more bouncy silky look, but I understand if that's not what you were going for
Pretty style....I too have very thick hair so flat ironing it takes some time but I blow dry mine because takes a complete day to dry all the way.....love how the cat walked in the video lol
Your length is amazing and I love your hair in its natural state beautiful looks like mine lol but I think it was too much product and weighed your hair down and maybe a dust at the ends and it would be better but other than that I love your hair and your very pretty ! Definitely will be watching more of your videos
Hi there Jenna! I'm from South Africa and my hair is slightly courser then yours. I wanted to know, How do I prevent my hair from breaking? When I grow my natural hair I find that it breaks so easily. How should I sleep with my hair? Which product can I use.
+Boitumelo Koopedi Try to keep your hair routine as simple as you can. Everyone's hair is different and as you go along your hair journey you will figure out what your hair loves and what it doesn't. With my hair, after many trials and error I learned that it grows best when it is left alone, braided with little manipulation. I wash it every week but only because I get product build up easily. I wash my hair and deep condition weekly, then I do the LOC method then cornrow, tie my hair at night and that is it I wear wigs for the week to come until my next wash. I do protein treatments every two weeks so twice a month and take vitamins. For the products I use: tresemme clarifying shampoo, shea moisture deep conditioning mask. For the LOC method (liquide, oil and cream) I uses keracare hair milk, it is very light but yet really penetrates your hair leaving them soft and moisturised, then I put a light oil like grapeseed oil and then lock all that moisture with a cream and I use lush R&B hair cream but ORC hair repair intense moisture cream works as well if you don't have a lush shop nearby. So after I do the LOC method where I apply my liquid hair milk then my grapeseed oil and my hair cream, I just cornrow my hair and when I need to go out I wear wigs. I find wigs to be a life saver because you can take them off as you please, rehydrate your hair with water, massage your scalp to stimulate blood flow and increase hair growth and wash your hair and treat it as you please plus it allows you to change hair styles without damaging your own hair. This has saved my hair as I used to get a lot of shedding and very fragile hair too. Do take vitamins too and do either fortnightly or monthly hydrolysed protein treatment it will revive your hair!
+Boitumelo Koopedi @Zahra Lamin gave you a well rounded answer! Low manipulation is key for 4C hair. I sleep in a satin bonnet to prevent my hair for drying out. I also keep things simple with washing, deep conditioning, and moisturizing weekly. I have a video that will show you the products I use
+Michael DeGree wash and condition. Blow dry to stretch if she's natural. Apply light product or none at all is best (aside from heat protectant). To get silky results, do the chasing method (following flat iron with a comb). After you've straightened, trim her ends or if you don't trust yourself with that, get it done professionally. Hope this helps
hippienheelz I only used heat once. I just kept wrapping it at night and using the Chi Silk Infusion in the morning to take it down. My hair did get dry towards the end so I would moisturize with Shea Butter. x
some people don't understand 4c hair is extremely hard to straighten by yourself but obviously people with loose textures don't understand that

Relaxers aren't allowed, so I turn to UA-cam. Doesn't help that we live in Florida. The humidity makes all the effort I use to straighten her hair, useless. By her 2nd period class, it's back to its normal, poofy, afro self. But I'm going to try it this way! Thanks!
What were all the products you used? The shampoo, conditioner, and everything after that.
great hair I have very long hair to how long you been growing your hair I'm going all natural
Omg I Love Your Hair💙
it look nice and healthy...disregard the negative comment
those are not negative comments but constructive criticism and she already replied to some comments saying she would take those tips in mind next time . and I'm sure she will do better ❤
Aya Khaled it's already better, she only said that to be nice
VERY HELPFUL- thank you so much for making this video
***** You are welcome! x
You should have used the silk infusion before you straightened your hair and use it instead of the heat protected
+BRE I shall try that next time. Thanks for the tip. :)
Hey girl! My hairdresser told me not to use leave in conditioner when i use heat on my hair.. It wil damage it even more.. She told me to use a heatprotector instead
Samantha G I use both because my hair gets SO dryi if I don't use any moisturizing product. x
Your hair is beautiful but my sister also has 4c hair and I straighten it, you can definitely get a more bouncy silky look, but I understand if that's not what you were going for
You have beautiful hair - Natural and Straightened.
Pretty style....I too have very thick hair so flat ironing it takes some time but I blow dry mine because takes a complete day to dry all the way.....love how the cat walked in the video lol
talecia hawkins yeah it takes a while to dry for me too! smh
awww i'm so excited to straighten my hair, and we basically have the same length ^.^
Your length is amazing and I love your hair in its natural state beautiful looks like mine lol but I think it was too much product and weighed your hair down and maybe a dust at the ends and it would be better but other than that I love your hair and your very pretty ! Definitely will be watching more of your videos
love the cat at the end. nice vid
Love it, it looks pretty either way. ;)
Crafts & Glory Thank you
Omg that was so good now I can make my hair straight
Your hair so long Jemy, I know you're concerned about the thickness, but at least you know what to work on
Great results and would u just look at ALLLLL that hair!
667tazmania Thanks! Im following your footsteps! x
wow beautiful hair I really enjoyed this video. 👏👏👏👏
+Iamshaneik Thank you for watching :)
Hi your hair came out REALLY straight! =O Did it revert back?
Ashley Shanell I did! lol I was skeptical too! Pheww!
you're so pretty!!!!!
iamSoliviaa Aww thank you! x
I ❤ your natural. It is healthy and full.
Cute but your hair looks so much better in it's curly state. You look absolutely beautiful with your curly hair.
beautiful..... thank you. I'm gonna try to start doing my moms hair and this helped
Please don't follow this method unless you want your hair to be oily with no movement and damaged looking
So then what do you suggest
Btw cool name
+Michael DeGree wash and condition. Blow dry to stretch if she's natural. Apply light product or none at all is best (aside from heat protectant). To get silky results, do the chasing method (following flat iron with a comb). After you've straightened, trim her ends or if you don't trust yourself with that, get it done professionally. Hope this helps
thanks!!
I know if I tried this method on my 4c hair I would just get a slightly-more-tame blowout
me too
yass girl SLAYYY oKURRR. Lmao pep the cat in the background
Do you HAVE to wash it first?
i love 4 c hair!
Tashur Raquel YES!
That's my hair type, but I hate it 😣 too much work
Sra rae True it is. But I've learned to have patience, once you do that everything will be smoother. lol
+Sra rae ever try a texlax ..?
+Shalay Garcia no , what's that?
Did you have to use heat more than once during the month that it was straightened? How did you keep it straight and shiny?
hippienheelz I only used heat once. I just kept wrapping it at night and using the Chi Silk Infusion in the morning to take it down. My hair did get dry towards the end so I would moisturize with Shea Butter. x
