  • “If you think they're tight, tighten them again”.
Tony Quinn shares a frank and personal insight in the accident that left him fighting off the ‘Grim Reaper, and is joined by Greg Murphy who takes you through how to ensure you fit your seat correctly and your belts are fitted and tight enough when racing. These simple steps could literally save your life.
TQ spent six days in ICU after a horrific crash in July, which resulted in 12 broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, back fractures, two busted ankles and feet, a punctured lung and severe external and internal bruising.
Tony says that there is little doubt that the tightness of his belts, or lack of it, contributed enormously to the severity of his injuries. “I don’t think you have to be f***ing Einstein to work out that if my belts had been tighter I would not have been as badly hurt. I had them ‘old man’ tight, not ‘young bloke’ tight and I paid the price. I am not here to preach to anyone, but hopefully me bringing this simple process up as a conversation point will make drivers give those belts an extra hard tug before they head out on track.”
