- So in the recent Gotchard Episode many of the Legend Rider Suits looked like they have seen better days.

Toku being forever cursed with reused armor. From Super Sentai suits getting stolen, to Kamen Rider suits being so badly damaged. It does not help that they have been getting suit actors who cannot fit into the original suits, which warps the shapes of a lot of these older suits. (im looking at you Ouja)

And all the lazy retooling/repainting instead of making new stuff which takes away stuff that could have been used in the future. Especially the main Rider's freaking power-up suits.

while i agree its unfortunate, being a big fan of showa era toku think there's a certain charm to the suits deteriorating more and more every time they're on screen.
Thats true tbh, it has like that "Ancient" Charm to it.
In reality, they won't fix the suits unless it is really necessary to preserve in a long run like the Ichigo, Nigo, and V3 suits because that is the main icon of Kamen Rider.
Japan has this culture in manufacturing called "Just In Time". Basically focuses on reducing waste and maximizing efficiency in all production areas, reduce production costs and improve competitiveness.
So in a business POV, I Imagine Toei and Ishinomori Production thinking like this " Why do I have to reissue past Kamen Rider suits for shooting purpose that is going to be only shown like less than 5-10 minutes screen time ? Better to use the suits that we have, shoot it and edit it in post"
Reissuing suits for shooting is expensive from what I heard, It's cheaper to reissue suits that is made for mini Stage Show event for the kids.
Yup the actual suits reissues are expensive. And tbh, I feel that they still have the "pristine" condition suits for photoshoots and promos too. But those may not be meant stunts.
Personally I do work in suit production previously so I got some feel of what it's like too.
Still though, I feel the suit maintainence is something that can be looked at. Sewing up holes, abit of repaint can go a long way.
This reminds me of Decade's suit around the waist was scratched badly during the Zi O x Decade spinoff in a fight against Oma Zi O
Yeaaa. Suit damages are part and parcel of these shows nya. But some are just abit too obvious
You know, it really makes me wonder if Toei is on a tight budget or something. Their retooled suits usually look pretty good. It's really sad to see these old suits not being taken care of. Especially Eternal. Though now it makes sense why the scene with Legend went by so quickly and why the camera was shaking so much, they were hoping we wouldn't see the damage on the suits
Honestly I don't think its a tight budget, but probably they feel repairing the suit will not do much in "Profits".
Retooled suits usually get a new coat of paint and coating, which does help mask the damaged parts.
But at the same time though it's still impressive what they can work with in a budget and make it STILL look good and amazing action .

@@user-ej5oz2mn6x Yes it does. Both the ending sequences of episode 1 and 2 had more CG than all of Geats to date, it made it look like a bubget ps2 videogame. Yes they didn't use it as much in later episodes but they completely ABUSED IT early on. And yes I know WHY they did it but it still made it look very cheap. In comparison, Geats barely has any CG in it

Ahhhhh. But I think that is more of suit and costume design than the poor maintenance XD.

Speaking of agito chest piece armor like thing , you can also see that kind of old looking and crumble damage in kamen rider faiz 20 anniversary’s movie
Yup, it's a common thing in that era of costume making. I suspect they dropped that method as it wouldn't make sense with the increased amount of forms each season nya

Still waiting for them to fix Blade's Helmet, It's been yellowing for so long,
(Blade's Helmet was originally white and no it isn't Jack form's Helmet as it's actually gold while the base Blade helmet has now yellowed because of being in the sun for too long)
I meant Silver not white.
@@ThaurosDahlkuro When Zi-o was airing I thought it was yellow to reference the fact that Blade became a Joker due to using King Form too much, so when he transforms he's always sorta on King Form.
I also thought the yellowing feels like it was meant to be there XD. It does add some interesting feel to the suit nya
Looking at the gils suit made me laugh at first. Not it just makes me sad to see one of the coolest early heisei rider suits look like it fought a tiger and lost
Sadly the way the Gils suit was built also made it hard to repair, so the only way to get it back is to remake. And well Toei Haizzzzzz...
A perfect example of the foam material breaking down, the hips of the samurai megazord in both shows (shinkenger and samurai) from episode one the hips are heavily creased
Yep, actually if I am not wrong, that mech used rubber sheets instead of foam. Or at least I vaguely recalled that when I was studying costume making from my mentor nya

1:57 the holes on both sides of Faiz suit could be use for metal wire, like when they do some aerial movements, backflip, etc.

I saw a psot once that asked why Toei doesn't foc or just re make the old suits to which a popular response was "Becaude they dont use them anymore lmao" which is a braindead response when we've had legend riders show up consistantly for the past q0 yers with things like movie wars, heisei generations and about 19 different seasons which have been homages to ealry heisei
Yeaaa. Tbh I would agree more if they didn't have so many anniversary series and returning old casts non stop nya.

Guessing for Riders that were only going to show up for a few scenes they didn't try to fix it, tho kuuga, agito, ryuki, den-o, kiva and decade are the only early heisei era suits that doesn't look to be deteriorating despite how old they are. Also going off on how faiz's suit seems to be good as new, as no tape can be found when he gets ready for his exceed charge in his new movie, my guess whenever decade or legend transformed into them, they just reuse and older back up suit. I mean fourze had a lot of backups due to his suits turning yellow. Also do decade's scratches they could be painted over.
There is a chance for the movie, they might have switched to the posing suits for the close ups. Which is a common thing that they do for "higher budget" shots. Similar to how Gotchard was shinier in close ups in Episode 1 compared to later episodes nya

The Faiz suit looked fine in Paradise Regained besides the yellowed mission memory. The fact the Faiz Pointer is just hastily held together by tape is hilarious to me since it feels like Legends is using a second hand version of the suit.
Also it's weird how they made brand new versions of the suits for Stageshows like with Blade and Shin but not for the actual shows themselves. Just looking at the old suits in Gotchard is like the live action equivalent of bringing out your old fucked up action figures to play with your new ones.
For all you know, it might have gotten damaged from Paradise Regained XD. Since the damage looked more like damage than storage wear and tear.
Stage suits and filming suits are kinda built different. The materials especially the cloth is super different and the some detailing might be different. While I haven't looked into it, when I was previously doing costume and stage stuff, what I was taught was that filming suits, details need to be physically made. Stage suits, where possible, you draw on or shade in the details instead. That way it's lighter and the performers can go on for longer hours. Materials preferred for stage is also lycra over latex or faux leather
After Decade 21, I don't really care about these type of riders, who use other riders power, anymore... Except Ohma Zi O.

This is... are these photos from the actual Gotchard show or are they from side episodes? I guess it makes why the suits are so damaged. Between anniversary riders, anniversary movies, surprise cameos, stage shows, the wear and tear would have been insane.
Also yes, I would really like a deeper dive from you regarding about the suits or even the technical aspects of the shows.

No need to fix to suit just like you said it costs money when they can fix in post and it seems for toei its cheaper to create a new suit then fix older ones
Fixing in post is usually a bad idea nya. Kinda why Marvel been having high budget shows that look subpar nya.
As for making new suits, I think they are also considering return of investment costs nya. But at the same time, they can't stop wanting to milk the fans XD. Though to be fair, we still willingly fall for it XD
I guess the reason it had tape on it because of the battle with the newer/android version of Kaixa in the VNext.
Faiz losing his upgraded driver and was forced to use his older driver. It was like a battle with old keypad phones against the android phones.
It was aa bit funny because as a keypad phone, Faiz is a lot stronger and got a lot of durability against the android version Kaixa hehehehe

At least this suits are still wearable unlike Kamen Rider Shin's. By this point he is just an over 30 years old rooting suit on a mannequin and they are still using it.
Shin suit was done with a technique that looked great but doesnt last nya. Similar to Gils or even the old teenage mutant ninja turtles movie suits nya

Suits dun really melt per say XD. There is barely any real metal in most suits XD.
But remaking em, hopefully they decide to do so soon

While I know that Toei are stingy with their budgets, maybe the suits would last longer if they didn't keep reusing Decade's gimmick so many times!
I honestly feel most of the damage looks like damage over time rather than heavy usage nya. I mean, the suits would already be pretty damaged at the end of their season run already.

Having past rider shows up doesn't have the same magic anymore. Every rider, every movie can do it now. Most of the time they're not the same actor anyway. I would prefer good standalone story more than half baked crossover story.

Do I watch BoonBoomger? I have all the episodes already downloaded. I've never seen anything sentai except for the one time my drunk Friend forced me to watch the Gaoranger movie.
Boonboomger isn't bad tbh, it's just that it feels the story is moving a little fast considering the pace and number of episodes it is at. Though if they got alot more stockpile story beats, then this is gonna one hell of a great Sentai season nya
