I have been waiting for a good heavy euro to come along. Last one i saw was pampero. Which should be delivered shortly. This looks good. Lets hope its not ridiculously expensive...
its a little worrying that it will be published by alley cat tho. Guess we will see.

So I absolutely love this, but I absolutely cannot play this with my Brother in-law. Does it have a solo mode in the works?

Watched the whole run through and I just keep getting more and more excited. Still your final thoughts were quite important and now I'm not sure I'll be backing. I wouldn't say this game is any heavier than some of my other fave heavy games, except for the openness of it all, leading to crazy analysis paralysis. So torn. I adore the theme, especially celebrating a great woman thinker. And it looks amazing even in prototype form. I just fear that I won't be able to hook others into it with one, most likely overwhelming, play.
Based on your videos as well, I'm currently backing Epochs. I know they are quite different themes and games, but could you perhaps compare them in terms of weight and AP.

hmm epochs i'd say is a longer game, but this is a heavier one. you might also want to be on the lookout for my pillars of heracles preview coming soon if you're looking at big ambitious heavy games along these lines :)

same old same old mechanism combined into one heavy eurogame but with different theme slapped into it.

Could you tell me what other game combines rondel action selection and entwined multi-use dice drafting? I've never seen one and if it exists I'd like to try it too because it's awesome here :-)

@@rahdoactually there's no dice drafting mechanism on BGG lists of mechanism. Ada's Dream mechanism are dice rolling, hand management (matching with dice pip), rondel, and tech trees. But from what I've seen from your playthrough, it basically an action selection rondel combined with hand management for the main mechanism. Could you consider the dice as worker here? Sometimes it is very confusing how to determine mechanism in a boardgame. 😂 But another action selection rondel with worker placement mechanism as main mechanism is Terminus from Inside Up Games. The theme is very interesting in this game, but I don't know if the mechanism they use can be considered thematic with the theme???

@@nezukoshop well the dice you grab from the rondel aren't really workers, but they do drive three different sub-games: the value determines what cards you can play, the color determines what core action you take, and the location of it triggers scoring opportunities at the end of the game.
thematically, the dice represent the breakthroughs you make in the workshop trying to develop the analytical engine. does your work leads to giving talks an universities, or local scientific societies in london, or direct partnerships with luminaries, or time with ada herself :)
