Been searching forever for this video. I remember when Carl Bradshaw (the Jamaican actor playing the teacher in this video) explained that he taught the African dancers in the video the Bogle dance (a Jamaican dance created by Dancehall icon Gerald "Bogle" Levy - RIP). He said they learned the dance (they're doing it in the boat @0:37) quickly.
ah je redecouvre cet oeuvre sublime qui a bercer mon enfance et je ne sais pas pourquoi peut etre la nostalgie de l enfance mais quand j ecoute cette chanson je me sens heureux
Yeah it's a big tune and really special because Carl Bradshaw is a famous actor from Jamaica movies like " The Harder they come, Third World Cop, Smile Orange & County Man. Baaba Maal is Senegals #2 most famous artist (after youssou n'dour) singing in the traditional Fula/Fulani language. Beautiful combination!
Baaba mal, je ne sais quoi te dire. Si jamais je passa une journee sans entendre ta vois ma journee reste sans sense. Tu valores en moi ma fiertee d,africanisme. Viva Africa, viva Baaba
I saw Baaba Maal perform some of the "Nomad Soul" album and music from other releases live in the pouring rain... a lot of drums (all different kinds) and a beat I felt vibrate through my body. The entire audience was jumping in time to the beat in a pouring rain like I've never seen before or since. Inspiring and memorable!
This song was one of my introductions to Afro style music so similar to reggae ...same heartbeat vibe.. give thanks to Mr Bradshaw and Baba Maal also all the pioneers of exposing African Music and history to the world ...maaad respect!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿💪🏽
