Why is it that so many folks are taking videos in Portrait mode? Anyone have a clue? Portrait mode videos are terrible, Portrait mode was NEVER intended to be for video, LANDSCAPE mode is for video. Folks should give it a try, your videos would be SO much better. There, I feel better now.....
Gene.... you are with me on this. I am frequently noting this aberration in both stills and video. I make comment when it might get noticed. SO many great videos are made unwatchable with portrait format. If I handed these people a dedicated camera what format would they use????? All real cameras - default to landscape - there is a reason for that.
@@l.j.heffelfinger9194 I appreciate your post in support of this issue. The big question to me is that with all the technology we have, like in smart phones, I wonder how come the phone has not been made to preclude shooting video this way, I also don't understand why the phones have not been developed to just let you shoot video in verticle hand held mode but the camera produces a landscape video instead. While shooting the video, it would look small to the person holding the phone the wrong way but the video would be a normal landscape video in the end no matter how you held the phone. So I think much of this issue is on the part of the phone makers.
@@briantbradshaw3071 Brian, we're not mad at you - but if you think about it, you've most likely been annoyed by someone that posts a portrait mode video. If you're on FB much you'll see bunches of them and it's SAD!

@@briantbradshaw3071 Brian, I'm certainly sorry you feel offended by this discussion about portrait mode videos. I never intended to offend you, it's just a frustration of mine as I was in photography as a profession some years ago but with the advent of the cell phone camera there are a ba-jillion videos out there that are crap because of them being shot in portrait mode and if you cannot see this as an issue, then I really think you are in the minority on this. I've converted some folks to taking videos in the correct mode and not one of them has come back on me other than to agree that their videos are now quite nice and people like them. Go to youtube and check out the huge amount of crap videos that have been shot in portrait mode and then note how great they could have been is hot properly. I rest my case, you being pissed at me is on you I think.
