In most of the States, the Highway Patrol looks at cracked windshields as a revenue stream. The rule of thumb for my customers is that if the crack is within the arc of the windshield wipers, it's a potential ticket. Chips alone are afforded a little more latitude, but if it's in the drivers view, it's a potential ticket.
The driver asking about the lane departure warning sistem but this truck don’t came with this feature on this years is just a cámara with doble stick tape he maybe heard about it
Not sure how many years you have under your belt, but having spent 40+ years with the same last name as our family glass business and especially from the point of view of the owner of the glass business, I would say his going the extra distance of shooting a small amount of Silicone between the glass and gasket is the mark of a professional who cares about a quality install and his company's reputation. These types of trucks are on the road many hours each day and travel through every weather phenomenon you can think of. Day in and day out, the trucks see abuse far beyond what is considered normal outside of the trucking industry...and leaky windshields are the shameful mark of a rookie, not to mention reason for the driver to (rightfully) call you a chump every time he has to drive through rain. It takes an extra 5 minutes to run the silicone and it ENSURES that you will not have to do the walk of shame and return to a pissed off customer with a leaking windshield. I have always been a bit cocky with my personal work by making the bold claim that "My $hit doesn't leak"...and it hasn't...ever. The ONLY reason I can get away with such a comment is by taking the extra 5 minutes to do things right. Rather than taking a shot at this kid, you should have praised him. You have either not spent enough time in the truck glass business or you don't have the same commitment to the quality of your work as this young man. There is no doubt which one of you two guys I would be willing to employ. Hint: It's the guy who cares more about the business reputation than cutting corners and half assing a job so you can get done asap. Not trying to pick a fight with you but your comments just don't take the big picture of running a professional glass company into consideration.
Cascadias are prone to leaking at the windshield gaskets & get water intrusion causing SAM Chassis failure due to its horrifically engineered location on the firewall/drivers footwell. Ask me how I know. SAM Chassis can range from $500-1000 used to $2300 new. I wish the I'll informed windshield guy I got knew to add silicon.
i would of thought ur insurance would of covered broken glass. they probably didn't wanta turn it in. back when i had mine in the early 90's my window's was covered-mine was around $120 back then. not near as big as urs -oh.
When I was leased at Swift I paid something like $3 bucks a week for glass coverage, but then later they said it was going to be double that or something, most Swift lessees opted out. I don't think I have glass coverage here at JCT now either. I did hear of one Swift driver who used the glass coverage to replace his windshield and the company put a preventable accident on his record for it even though it was caused by a rock jumping up off the road.
I know as a young man in the early 80's, I would shudder when looking at a Peterbuilt Conventional with one of those damn chrome visors that are 1 inch off the glass and cover the top 30 % of the windshield. Actually had to take many visors off to get the glass in...and naturally, They are always attached with rivets, so that's a fun time.
It already had a couple of small spider cracks, woke up this AM to a long crack working its way up. Haven't heard of any cinder block shit, what is that , was it in the news? sounds like protestor stuff.
www.livetrucking.com/multiple-semi-trucks-hit-by-large-heavy-objects-thrown-from-overpass/ Nope, just ass-hats, or kids. The article references the kids' cinder blocks episode(s) in the past. I had a small crack from a rock in my mini-van, and it spidered out like that when the weather got cold ... just one day, out of nowhere. Had to call Safelite, and a cab to work that day! :( When it rains it pours. Is this the same truck you've BEEN driving, or is this a new L/P one? I thought you were going back to a standard. Then again, doesn't look like hardly anyone is these days, except for HH/OS/OD guys, huh.

$235 is more than a reasonable price for mobile work and Guchi stopped making caulking guns. He was forced to slum it with a mere manual caulking gun. I have been in this business for 42 years and I have never heard a caulking gun called a bathtub glue gun. It's pretty obvious to me that watching this video is as close as you have ever come to installing a windshield or you would realize doing a "pro job" has everything to do with the craftsman and not his tools. There is a reason behind the saying "A poor craftsman blames his tools".
Id be like dude you're distracting. Let me put the glass in while you go have a cup of coffee.
He did it very tough way
It's most easy glass
that is luxery here in Holland we drive with crackes like that forever
like your vids Scottie keep up the good work !!
Here it is a violation. I think the rule is the crack cannot be larger than an American quarter dollar. Thank you for watching !!
scottied67 It also depends where it is. A crack at the edge of the windshield is no good, even if it is smaller than that.

How long does it take with out edits?
About half an hour, but you have to sit for a couple hours after to let the glue cure.
@@scottied67 thank you. Sir

I got mine replaced and they took out of my maintenance account. thought it was covered by insurance 😠
I sent a breakdown message asking for advice they replied I should call a glass place.
scottied67 don't break the driver side 🤣
I'm pretty sure we don't have glass coverage insurance, will double check in the morning.
And then he did.... dang.
You don't have to use that glue gun on a gasket set. The locking strip seals it when you put it back in. That's lack of confidence.

So much better without a sun visor

I do the windshields at that truck stop ... this vid would of been 5min. long🤣🤣🤣
At least they aren't crazy expensive.
Look at a Kenworth T2000 windshield price before you bet on this comment.
Smh windshield like $40 at Freightliner
$169
:( bummer . . . sorry hun.
Now the other side is cracked
How the hell did THAT happen?!? Ripple-effect?? How'd it crack anyway?!? You weren't a victim of that cinder-block shit going on, were you?!?
