Freaking biggest win for the LSU football program since defeating #1 Florida in 1997. This game was huge and the start of the powerhouse LSU would become.
Exactly this game is what officially meant that LSU was becoming a powerhouse and would be until 2019. 2020 and 2021 we fell off bad but I think we will get back to being great with Brian Kelly

Had no ties to Louisiana, grew up in Asheville, nc, but this game birthed me as a tiger fan, absolutely hated tennessee growing up and fell in love with LSU after this, couldnt be prouder that my LSU tigers ended the tennessee dynasty and became something of a dynasty themselves because of this game, GEAUX TIGERS!!!
The birth of Matt Mauck! And the death of TN football national title contention Tennessee wasn't ready for that QB draw. Even after LSU had already run it in the red zone to take the early lead after Davey was injured. Mauck was able to manage the game well enough while hitting on those timely QB draws to score 2 rushing TDs and the LSU defense did their part to provide the difference in the biggest upset in SEC championship history.
This was the classic let down game for Tennessee. They came off an emotional win over The Gators in Gainesville the previous week and fall to underdog LSU here, this probably was the start of Nick Saban gaining momentum at LSU, which culminated in a National Title for him two years later.

Gator fan. I remember this game vividly. The Gators beat LSU that year but were upset by the Creamsicles.
