      Absolutely John. Don't know if you watched the section where I talked to the owner of the old Indian? His friend spent 3 years restoring that bike but became so ill during that time that he couldn't ride it. All of those machines will have a story to tell.
      Thanks for watching

    Thanks for that one. Very first shot and that Gold Fizzy belongs to an old school mate of mine! He's got a few bikes and has won best in show before. Not been to any shows for a few years now but always used to go to both Staffords. OWD Codgers club (34.13) was started by a couple of local lorry drivers up here Buxton/Macclesfield area. As for Ice speedway bike, there was only one English competitor doing that from Cheshire. I met him at our local bike shop when he was picking up another ice bike after having some work done. Met him again at Manchester bike show. And no I've never heard of a Vovan either. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

      Nice to hear you enjoyed the show, doesn't sound like you are far from us. We are based near Ashby de la Zouch
      The Fizzy has a special place in my affections as it was my first bike back in 79/80. felt so good to have independent transport as a 16 year old.
      Not sure I would have wanted to pilot that ICE bike, scary if you ask me!

I had a suzuki 750 kettle back in the day. fitted a watsonian g p sports side car to it and visited the tt . my son 18 months old in the sidecar and my wife on the back of the bike. it was left on solo gearing but was very flexible and pulled low down in the rev range . also quite good on fuel . nice video report ,best wishes.

    Tom Cruise rode a GPZ900r in Top Gun. I had one many moons ago. Although I was told recently he was on a 750 stickered as a 900 because he was too short. Not sure how much truth there is to that. I thought they were the same apart from the cc.

    Thank you, a great video. I cannot work it out though because aged 71 I can remember me & my mates ridiculing those riding Rice Burners & telling riders of them that they won't last so how come so many are still here then. Just shows you how much we knew. Mind you given one of our mates brought a Suzuki Supe Six and burnt us off the road on our Triumph Bonnevilles and BSA Road Rockets so we should have known better. I have only visited the show once and the only problem that I had was not knowing where to look as there are so many great bikes to look at. Keep those wheels turning and I am only too pleased I passed my bike test when I did as it was so much easier than it is today. If we're not careful there will be a big decline in youngsters taking up motorcycling and motorcycles will only be museum pieces.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  Рік тому +1

      Being 13 years younger than you all I can remember on the road were Japanese bikes, hence the 70s and 80s heavy theme of this vid. Shows you how the Brit bikes lost their market share in the 70s.
      Was super easy to get a license back in 81, but it's got steadily harder and more expensive. It's why we don't see many youngsters riding (both my twenty something sons fancy electric cars)
      I think there is going to be a slow demonisation of the combustion engine and those that choose to use them, hope I'm wrong but think we're a dying breed
      Checking the statistics of the age demographics of viewers of this vid, the vast majority are in the 55 to 70 age group!

      @@Banditmanuk Thanks for reply. Re testing in 60s rode around the block did an emergency stop that was it. But that said all these years later I,m still learning. Re Combustion engine we are fortunate that at both our ages it's doubtful whether we will see the death of it but of cause it will die. Given the lack of infrastructure its going to take ages for these vehicles to become the norm. Big issue for me is the production & disposal of their batteries.

    It was so nice to meet you and Carol, Richard. After only getting back on-line after 18 days, your video was the first I watched and I really loved it. I love the old bikes(and have a few), but for sheer blowing away of any cobwebs, the MT10 has few equals. I sometimes think, that it's a little like remembering a really pretty girlfriend you had in your teens, then you don't see them for 40 or 50 years and the reality of meeting up again, is really not at all what you expected. Possibly. even worse for them! Keep up the good work Richard.

    Great video, well done, the Honda NR750 had oval shaped pistons (some cruel Journo's said they resembled a spam tin lol) such was the size and weight meant they had two con rods per piston, the NR was Honda willy waving really, it featured carbon fibre body work and wheels long before they became common, they were £27k and limited edition when new but now I've seen examples for over £60k!!! Gorgeous piece of engineering, shout out to your lady, it's great to hear a female actually know what she's talking about and not just comment on the colour or amount of chrome, thanks for highlighting the beautiful CBX's but a shame you didn't spend any time next door with the GPz900R lad's, very friendly group with the bikes that changed the face of modern biking.

At about 33:55 just before the Heart beat cop bike, there she was the Puch M50 Sport. It was actually my second bike but my first one was little more than a push bike with an engine and had a pint pot for a petrol tank, the Raleigh Wisp. Boy did I get some ribbing over that one 😂

The Gs1,000 I swapped my Z650 for and that was a big mistake it nearly did me in it had been played with by it's previous owner Trever Nation when he was still club racing and Christ did it go I lost it accelerating down the Andover bypass when there was a massive diesel spill all over a complete lane of the carriageway 😵‍💫. The Benelli' were basically a complete rip off of the Honda CB500 4 engine but did look nice though never road one either .
