This guy is amazing. I've been playing for 50 years, and I can't imagine ever playing this well. And I played professionally at the age of 16. It's crazy how far technology, and people (drumming excellence), have come in my lifetime.
RIP Jeff Porcaro
wow... it's the first e-drums kit I have listened to since quite a few years and the sound and responsiveness seem to have leaped! very impressive!
Great demo, great drumming, great editing too. And this module sounds very good.

I'm impressed with how natural the hihat can be controlled.
Omg what a drummer , so clean and pleasant to hear
This is not how I sounded in the store when I went to test them out lol
The skill is amazing, bravo!
I will buy it. The module is so amazing and your playing is superb🙏🥁🥁🎧
Thank you Umberto!

Currently saving up for this beast! Wish me luck bois. Insane drumming btw that 3:07 part goes hard!

Wonderful drumming
Thanks man!
Really really impressed with this. Have such a tight space in my studio room and wondering how much area I would need
For this kit.
You'll roughly need about 1,5 x 1,5 meters +/- depending on how you set up the kit. Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance if you like. Kind regards!

Thanks!
Drum tec should make drum lesson videos as well. Amazing drumming dude.
Maybe one day! 😀
Ok the video and the demo are great !!!
The material is great too.
But one question: what is the noise level when empty?
(the drummer uses headphones for example, what noise for the neighbors?)
Just amazing
Thanks man!
sounds freaking huge!
Thats hot!
I like your videos 🎉

Amazing grooves and wow does the kit sound great

What is the difference between the V2 module and the old one?
As usual great playing Ralf. Always a joy to watch.
Thank you very much! Haven't spent a lot of time with the kit, I've played on it for the first time this morning actually 😀 The Gen2 module update brings some new features/functions, new sounds & kits, as well as trigger presets for the new CY-12C-T & CY-14R-T to the module. The upgrade will also be available as a download in the future. That's pretty much all I can say for now :) kind regards!
@@drumtecTV thanks a lot for the quick reply. Okay, so basically if you buy it new, you don't need to install the firmware update yourself. Makes sense and good for owners of the "old" version like me, we don't miss out on the features and our product doesn't get downgraded. Fair I guess
whehe As always, great perform mate 👍👍
Thank you! :)
Well the hi-hat is impressive...
It sounds less synthetic than the TD 17 V1. Great kit and playing!
Thank you Alejandro!
1:22 I nearly spill my coffee when I recognize VisualPolitik theme music haha
The new kits sound awesome and huge! What are your thoughts on the new thin profile cymbals? Do you think they'll last as much as the regular ones?
Hey Michael, yes I think so. The 16" thin ride & 14" thin crash have been there since the first VAD kits had been introduced, which has been a while now. I think there won't be any severe production quality problems with any Roland product, they're always top notch. I really like the thin cymbals & prefer them a lot over the older more "bulky" ones. They just feel a little more natural somehow, kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Recently had to leave my studio, so I can't play my acoustic drums anymore. I just ordered a TD-17KVX2. Should receive it in a few weeks! Can't wait!
@@MichaelDionneDrummer Great, enjoy & happy drumming!
I have an old td12 with pads/triggers that have poor response. It is either in need of fixing or replacing entirely. Wondering if old flagships compare to any modern midrange these days?🤷♀️ the hat on my td12 (vh11) has become unplayable last few days - socket seems to have come loose!
Do you know what’s the difference between the TD17 KVX2 and the TD17 KVX ¿?
Thanks a lot for your help! 👌👌🙌👍👍👍👍
Great video and playing. I am about to buy the 17-KV, but wondering - what drum amp/monitor/PA system are you using ? It sounds great - so much better than my 50-watt 10-inch woofer KAT.
Thanks John! For the demos, I am not using any amplification, what you hear is the stereo out signal coming from the module recorded directly to Logic Pro X on a macbook pro. Kind regards!
Good
Is that compression I hear on the first kit?? Sounds so good! 🥹
Yes it is! 😀 as far as I know, that is actually one of the new TD-17 Gen2 software features. Kind regards!
Is there a way to adhere the snare better looks like every video I see the snare is bouncing up and down too much for my liking?
I'm thinking about buying one of these. Here's my question, I currently have a Tama acoustic kit that has a felt beater. Is that ok to use on this kit? I know that felt shouldn't be used on a mesh but I can't find any info on what the kick drum is made of. Thank you
Which Kick pedal and hi hat stand did you use or would recommend? Forgot to add... thanks for the video !
Hey Brad, I am using this drum-tec pedal in the demos:
www.drum-tec.com/drum-tec-dp-2023-single-pedal
The drum-tec hihat stands are currently out of stock unfortunately, you might get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further info if you like. Kind regards!
Can the kick pad hold on a double bass pedal?
Thanks for the video, I think I would use only the big wood shell kit forever. I'm still thinking if worth to by this kit, I haven't played drums in 12 years... but I want to play again. Any other recommendations for me? Thank you.
There's really a lot of options, just look around on our channel for more demos. The EFNOTE kits might also be nice if you are looking for natural drum sounds especially:

Please feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance in finding the best kit for your individual needs. Kind regards!
I'm confused between this one and yamaha dtx6k3-x...can you please suggest which one to go for..

I wonder if they improved foot splashing with the new update🤔? I've tried tweaking hardware and module settings and still can't get it to splash😮💨.
TD-17 software definitely needed some fixing. I will be updating the software as soon as it's available! Thanks for the demo video👍🏻!
Hey Larus, you need to calibrate the HiHat correctly in the module, then the foot splash should work nicely in my exoerience. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Thanks for the reply! I checked and my hihat calibration is way off. But when I try to adjust the open/close nut, the indicator stays at the very bottom of the bar.. Maybe I just need more strength to turn it, I'll look into it more tomorrow, thanks again👍🏻
I'm always reading good reviews.
Which one makes better sound, ATV aD5 module or Pearl mimic pro module?
What would be a good comparison?
You can find sound demos of both modules on our channel here, and listen to them with monitoring / headphones of your choice to make a decision:
ua-cam.com/video/k1jf3ysRp0M/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/QuPjBujesgY/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/yUc0M-Azksk/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/7m4yfBSmWw8/v-deo.html
Yet it's not really a fair comparison, as the Pearl Mimic Pro plays in a different price league. Feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for further assistance if you like. Kind regards!
I've been playing acoustic drums for years using 5B sticks. Getting ready to purchase this kit and make the change over.... what size sticks do you recommend for this kit? Great chops by the way!
Thank you Bill! I'd use the sticks you are used to / are using on acoustic drums too, 5B won't be a problem with any e-drum kit. Kind regards!
Make sure they have the nylon tips on them.
Drum tec ball beater is included or you buy it extra ?
I wish they would make a kit with Roland feel, but Yamaha sound! 😂 That would be every drummer's dream...
How did you learn to play that well
Are the cables long enough to have ride where second tom would be and second crash where the ride is? So that I can play a one up one down tom setup basically. Cheers!
Yes that's absolutely possible, kind regards!
What double pedal would be good for this ekit?
The kits demo are the original out of box by TD-17 KVX 2? Can I get the set-ups of those kits on my TD-17KVX? They sound inspiring!
Hi, the new V2 firmware for TD-17 and TD-27 sound modules is available for download from the Roland website as far as I know now. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Thank you, sir! :) Got it!
Can you use a double kick on this?
the snare moves so much isn't it?
How is this compared to the efnote 3?
Can you use double pedal?
Is this kit better than the ATV EXS3 kit?
Can you use drum splitters on the rims of the toms to expand the kit?
Yes you can :) just like we did on this drum-tec Jam / Roland TD-17 kit, using the drum-tec splitters:

@@drumtecTVthanks! Also in your opinion would you say the sounds and features of the td 17 module compared to the td 07 are enough to justify an upgrade from a 07 to 17 module?
I will try to fit this kit in the 132x124 roland carpet. I hope it fits!
Hey Mike, might be a tad narrow with the hh stand maybe, but it should work generally speaking! We do have some nice drum rug options over here just in case ;)

What is the difference bet current td17kvx and this V2
Which one will be worth buying and will any module upgrade will be available as download later
As i am planning to buy the td17kvx
TD-17KVX2 comes with the new flat cymbals CY-12C-T and CY-14R-T. I'd probably get the new version of the kit because of those, they play more realistic/less bulky and the ride is 1" bigger than the older CY-13R. More info on the kit:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-17kvx2-v-drums-set
You might get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de for info on availability, also you can get any custom kit configuration from drum-tec. Kind regards!
What mat did you use? I don’t remember seeing that specified in the video?
Hey Jason, it's a Roland TDM-20:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-tdm-20-large-sound-absorbing-drum-carpet
Kind regards!
Just ordered one of these, will I need a hi-hat stand for the hats?
Hi Gary, yes hihat stand is not included in the kit. Enjoy & happy drumming!
What is the name / make of the mat ?
Sir first good evening from India my question is that what is the literal difference between this and td17kvx
New Thinner CY12 Crash cymbals, a thinner 14" ride (last one was 13 inches) , and new preset kits
Hello, how are you?
I own a Roland TD-17 KV.
I would like to know if there was a change in the sound of the kits installed. If there is a download possibility for the TD-17 KV.
Thank you very much.
Hey Erich, the new firmware is available from the Roland website. Kind regards!

Is this the way the kit sounds on its own without using something like Ezdrummer? If it sounds this good with it’s stock sounds I think I’ll get one.
Hi, yes these are all TD-17 module sounds. Yet, some of the kits in the demo are taken from drum-tec Sound Edition packs, like the TD-17 AllStar and Real Acoustics Edition:

is it possiple to fit a double pedal on the kick pad? seems kinda small
Yes you can, yet the Roland KD-10 pad won't be too stable & playing feel / rebound won't be very realistic neither. You can upgrade any e-kit with a 100% Roland compatible drum-tec Real Feel bass drum though:

Hello everyone, from 0 to 10 how much better is the cy 14r-t compared to the cy 12 r?
Hi, the TD-17KVX kit had the CY-13R actually. The new CY-14R-T is 14" and has a thinner profile, which I do prefer over the older more "bulky" cymbal pads. I'd personally give it at least a 7 or 8 :) Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV thanks for the reply, really these thinner ones look better
Greetings,
I wanted to kindly ask what differences there are between TD17KVX and TD17KVX2.
Is it possible to insert the update on a TD 17 KVX?
Thank you
yes you can, the primary difference is the hi hat stand
The first kit sounds like it’s designed to compete with the Yamaha DTX-PRO
It's on par with sampled VIs
This or the Efnote 3?
They sound too good to be realistic...never a mishit or odd placement of the stick just gives a very flat fake feel to otherwise killer drumming
Hey, does this kit have better responses than dtx 6? cheers
I'd say yes, Roland modules/kits have state-of-the-art triggerunbg for sure. Kind regards!
Hi Hat stand and Bass pedal to be purchased from other sources(different brand possibly). Does not come along.
Absolutely, you can find more info on the TD-17KVX2 kit over here if you like:
www.drum-tec.com/roland-td-17kvx2-v-drums-set
Kind regards!
Qual é esse relógio que está usando? Bateria top demais!!
😲 😮 😲
the worst part of this particular one is the rack because kick has to go in the middle(annoying if you've got lots of upgrades, extra cymbal floor stands ,amp speaker etc) and because of that you're forced to have hihat in specific place if you use double bass pedal.also cymbal rack mounting is a joke, straight booms with balls at the end,no arms ,no nothing. So you end up being very limited with set up options unless you do some upgrades to hardware like I did and have extra floor stands for cymbals so I can mount toms differently and have 3 in line above snare,2nd hihat on the right too..pdx 120 is NOT great as a snare(hot spot ,and rim shots problem)so I replaced it with PD-125BK and use ex snare as 4th (floor) tom.Other than that it's a great kit that will last you for years if you keep it updating(software wise) and take your time to tune it to your liking,Don't expect it to sound great out of the box,It won't happen.Happy drumming everyone
드러머는 얼마 입니까?
Is the td17 2.0 update better than Yamaha dtx-pro?
That's hard to tell in general, the sounds of one might be preferable to one person, while another person might prefer the exact opposite :) You can compare the sound demos here on the channel & decide for yourself, best would be to try out both kits side by side actually:

Does anyone know how well the hi hat plays without hi hat stand? I.e. when mounted on the rack
I would assume if you didn't use the trigger it would require you to buy a foot pedal for it and not feel as authentic.
@@custum18 Thank you for replying. I ended up buying the kit with the required hi-hat stand.

Hey Flavius, as far as I know it isn't yet. You can pay a visit the official Roland website every now and then, they will release it pretty soon I think. Kind regards!
@@drumtecTV Hi there. Yes, I think we need yo wait and check the cloud for the update. Are there big differences in feel with the first version of TD17?
And by the way I really like your drumming skills. Is there something you recommend for an intermediate player as an online couse. I am more focused on groove and constancy. I guess I have the technical know-how
@@flavviuss Thank you! these videos keep proving "it's not the drums, it's the drummer" theory. Sure the sounds and feel of this kit vs a top line roland TD-50K2 or VAD or EFNOTE will be less good than its counter parts, but he's once again showing you can play these to a high standard. The acoustic sound pack from drumtech does make a big difference if you get it as I agree some of the default kits don’t sound great.
How much in uk
Do you know any easy way to record roland td 7 kv?
Sure, you can either use the USB out of the module & record to your compuer / DAW directly (you'll need the TD-07 audio driver from the Roland website). Or you can use a Y cabe like this:

Drums sounds like cheap midi-based toy. But fells almost like a real drums
Sounds bad honestly. I'll stick with my yamaha dtx6k2-x all day
Sounds good, but still sounds 'electronic'...
