As an autistic adult with a largely autistic family, thank you for treating this child with the kindness and dignity he deserves! I loved the end when he was running back and forth to let you cut his hair even though it was hard for him. The stim breaks were essential. He did so well despite his discomfort and so obviously trusted you. Just a beautiful video.
I am an educator who has years of experience working with students with a variety of needs. In this field, you must have a gift to impact those in need. Vernon, you have an amazing gift from God!!’
I agree AMEN 🙏🏿 AMEN
❤❤I was just getting ready to type those exact words ❤❤
So True
My daughter is 3 and nonverbal. She is autistic. Watching how you understand him and took your time with him is heart warming. Thank you for doing God’s work ❤
Does she have access to a board with pictures to communicate? If not, it might be really helpful
Teach her sign language
What a cutie. He knows what to do, he knows it’s going to happen, he just doesn’t know how to deal with the sensory part of it. Sweet boy. He’s doing great!
I was thinking the same.
My 4 year is the same way when it's time for a hair cut
I'm CRYINGGG! Giving mom tips on using words speaking to what he can do instead of saying no because it triggers him is top tier beautiful high vibrational human energy. I love how Johnny was upset and running away but when he came back he placed his head where it needed to be to cut his hair.
Sometimes you just need a little break
Yesss! ❤ I loved that as well cause it really showed how much trust Mr. Jackson was able to build with him!
Hope that her child has treatment in that parents learn and work with pros.to help child.
His store of wisdom from experience is probably more valuable than the haircut. Bravo
This is awesome we need more people like you
God bless you beautiful caring Heart ❤
God blessed the world with this man! We need more like him!!
Lord bless Vernon and these parents as they learn to talk to their child in a different way
This man needs to recognized in a major way!! He is awesome! A blessing ❤
THIS MAN WORKS, WITH PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS...HE IS UNITY...WE ALL NEED YO LEARN..❤
Color does not matter in this situation. It's his amazing patience 🌹
Amen! ❤👍🏼
You have so much love and patience❤
God bless you Sir❤
Vernon, thank you for being so sensitive and caring to the special needs children. I grew up with a special needs brother. After our parents died, I became his guardian and caretaker. He was never a burden to me. He passed away in 2019 from kidney failure. I miss him terribly. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍. Keep the positive energy flowing.
This barber is top notch BRILLIANT ❤
But now, he has lost his hearing! 😂😖
Awesome job. I've worked in this field for over 30 years.
@@claudiaboneparte2432 Same . Since 1982 👍

A Total Gift from God this man is
This man is a saint. What a blessing for these children and families. Let’s support him so he can keep giving these free haircuts away!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce you to, Vernon, 👦🏾"The Child Whisperer!" 👶🏼
ALL these comments are so good, I thought, "what can I contribute?" But I had to say something! I was so very moved! So I want to share what I learned! ~ "No" is a trigger sometimes, why not "redirect" the childs thoughts by saying, "come here, do this" BRILLIANT! This man is such a natural! Also, like he said, imagine how frustrated even we adults with NO disabilities whom have voices and vocabulary get when we cant get our point across! Now, imagine how a child...a child...with NO words and NO vocabulary feels when they cant get their point across? Pure WISDOM. This wonderful "sage" teaches wisdom, patience and vital understanding to the parents so they may better communicate with their special needs children. But guess what? It taught THIS 63 year old with a vast vocabulary things that no book or teacher EVER has! God bless him and his mission of love! 😊❤❤❤
Elegantly said, thank you 😊
@@michellemann6362 thank you sweetie! I could have gone on and on, but this story was all about Vernon. 😘
Vernon may God bless you for your kindness and we can ALL learn from you ❤
Both are AMAZING individuals!!
Parenting these kids takes true skill, education, patience and huge love…..I work with them, most do not get the above. Look closely!
She and dad! Look closely
“I believe in you.” Got me. He was so frustrated but kept coming back to conquer his fear of the clippers. Handsome young man and a blessing of a barber.
This gentle, kind man is a true blessing to the clients who come to him for a hair cut.
I wish we had more people like him in special needs classrooms. We are desperate for empathetic educators.
Children are not little adults regardless of their capabilities. He's a wonderful person.
Children are tiny humans who deserve kindness and respect. They are themselves unique and special beings.
"Adult" does not indicate maturity or merit.
@@daredoggo no. It means a person fully grown or developed.
I love his patience with this special needs kid and how he's teaching the boy parent on effective techniques. What an amazing barber!
Kids with special needs flourish with love from special people. I commend you sir!
I'm a dog groomer and we often utilise exactly the same techniques with our clients. Many pups, often from traumatic backgrounds, display similar behavior traits to people who are on various levels of the autistic spectrum. It's beautiful to see how patience and empathy can positively impact creatures great and small. Kindness goes such a long way.
Dogs are given vaccines too, so I'm not surprised.
That mama's got her hands full. Bless her
Well yes but part of it is her fault, she allows him to run the narrative. He’s four, 4️⃣, they teach them how to start sign language and use a communication device in kindergarten. Secondly, he could not possibly be in school bc the pacifier is a HUGE NO, school wouldn’t allow that at all. He isn’t a baby and shouldn’t have things like a pacifier, sippy cup etc. It’s clear that she uses food as a tool for him, autistic children should be on a strict diet. Foods and drinks AFFECT THEIR BEHAVIORS. He can learn but must be taught differently and receive positive or negative consequences depending on the situation. Parents must put in the work to help their children prosper, period.
The main reason why he's behaving this way is because he's not controlling the situation. The barber is allowing him to feel in control even though he's not.
I am crying happy tears. He took the trauma out of it. May God bless you always. 🎉❤🎉❤. Great job.
Me too 😭☺️😭☺️
I’m in love with this man. I’ve worked with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for over 20 years. This man understands, has patience and is kind. We need more people like him in this world. 🥰❤️
What an understanding, kind and loving man you are. Bless you Vernon!❤
How does this gentleman know so much? He teaches the parents and creates trust with his special needs clients.
A gifted and patient man. 😇
Wow! I have worked years with special needs folks…I can honestly tell you not only is this man a saint but he has such a gift! I have seen people with decades of training and experience in the field of special needs and they don’t have an ounce of this man’s compassion, patience, understanding and caring. He needs to run classes so others can follow his lead. Well done sir!!! ❤
That Part
Educate others
He is an exceptional Human Being God Created
This type of thing isn’t everyone’s calling. I work with the roughest children-teens deemed garbage or the future career criminals of society. I have a gift to redirect young black, brown, and white boys and girls that society throw away. All of them have gone to jail or are in gangs. I can teach and train them properly. They will listen, learn, respect me and others. My point is what this man is doing IS NOT FOR ME. The constant crying and pacifying of this boy would make me walk out on him and his mom. He’s autistic NOT UNTEACHABLE, teach him in a different manner. Mom has pacified him too long, now w/o feeding him or holding him down she receives the negative responses. I know there’s different levels of autism/neurodivergent ppl, they all can learn appropriate behavior. Unfortunately, ppl will ignore the negative behaviors and give in to them versus teaching him right from wrong. She’s not doing him any favors by pacifying him and mom won’t be here forever. I’m sure she doesn’t want police intervention either that might not work out well. This man didn’t allow him to run the show, he didn’t give up his authority either.
@NonperfectionPerfectionist Mom is learning, along with her son, and there's already progress. They needed and found a good teacher in this man.
There’s a young man sitting next to the mother watching all this. I hope he’s learning how gentle and patient a real man is. This barber is a real man.
I did not like his expressionless, disinterested face.
@@carlac9782He doesn’t have to be interested in someone else’s business first of all, secondly he watched patiently. I’m sure he probably asked questions once camera was off or when they left out.
As mother of two ASD young adults, I applaud you especially in our community where autism acceptance is difficult, people think you can punish the behavior out of them, they’re hypersensitive to everything, touch, noise, they can’t help it.
Yes but you can still discipline the special needs children.
I love mama in the background so proud of her boy that tries to be good when he is so terrified & clapping her hands at him for encouragement, so heart-warming, made me 😢 cry. 🇺🇸🧸🎈✂️
This man is so good with all types of needs. Very patient and understanding. He even makes it fun for them and that is everything! Such a wonderful human being, more of us should be as giving. ❤❤
The man with the locs went from sitting there looking like he ain't never getting this haircut to smiling and learning some new techniques!❤
A perceptive and persevering gentleman. He assessed the little mans needs and successfully cut his hair, giving his mother some valuable advice too. Great work.
My nephew’s first haircuts were awful. But eventually found a barber as kind and compassionate as this man. He’s now 15 and loves his barber. He’s now getting shaved too 😂. Men like these human beings are such a blessing ❤❤❤
What a special man! You can tell he loves children and is full of compassion and patience. We need more people like this on the planet!
Nothing like a barbershop to bring people together, but I never expected this. 🥰
Speaking in the affirmative is SO IMPORTANT for all children! ❌Stop running! ✅Walk!
Edit: And for any relationship! ❌Stop looking at your phone when I’m talking to you. ✅When I’m talking to you, I’d appreciate it if you would be fully present and look me in the eye.❤️
I wish this was taught more rigorously. Being in the affirmative is life giving. Teaches people what they CAN do!!
@@younkm1 Yes!!! And it’s positive speak and not so negative. No! Stop! Don’t! Nope! ALL DAY LONG. Ppl unintentionally perpetuate negative energy in their own lives, and it’s exhausting being around that.🥰
🙄
@@captaindangler1675 🤓
@@captaindangler1675Exactly, society will not pacify children that haven’t been taught anything. Teaching starts in infancy, you must teach and train the autistic babies too, just differently. God forbid cops are called on them bc of their behavior, they won’t pacify at all. Teaching them may be tiresome but do it to save your child and yourself some grief. No harm is intended but I see this daily in my workplace unfortunately.
No words just tears can explain how much goodness you have done.
Love how you try to walk in the child’s shoes, anticipating his fears.
Love the firm yet gentle coaxing-no baby talk.May God continue to bless this gentleman & the children he works with!
What a wonderful man. So patient and loving, teaching mom some pointers with her child.
That little baby def playing up his emotions but I never thought I’d be crying watching a child try to get a hair cut. He was so cute and the barber was so gentle and loving. Y’all both did a great job
I worked with special needs children & it does take a special person with Patience, Love,& Understanding to be able to handle them.
The smile on the moms face was PRICELESS. brought me to literal tears because i absolutely know and understand how your kids make u feel
This guy has lots of patience he has a gift from God what a blessing ❤
God bless that man. He said exactly what I was thinking when he told her to stop telling him no. I read in a parenting book when my son was born to not tell babies and kids no. Give them the proper alternative instead. If you counted how many times you say no, it’s ridiculous.
Most kids special needs are that they need better parents
Does that boy have a man in his life that he can watch him get his haircut to show him what to expect and that it’s ok and doesn’t hurt and you look and feel better afterwards
Mr. Jackson, you are truly an angel with infinite patience. Mama came in tired, frustrated and beat up. You worked on her as much as you worked on Johnny. Mama's demeanor was greatly improved and lightened by the time his haircut was done. Look how relaxed and happy she was at the second visit. Whoever that lump of humanity was that sat beside her, he needs to go. He was a pure negativity with zero compassion and a missing soul. Mama was tired but he was an uncaring shell.
To see mom smile like that, you can tell she is such a loving mother.
You have a special gift . May God forever bless you and the work you do
Such patience with that gorgeous little boy. The understanding you have is a blessing ❤
You have a gift. You have no idea how much people like you mean to parents of special needs children. God bless you.
Speaking in the affirmative is a perfect way to communicate with neurodivergent individuals. Give gentle positive alternative direction instead of yelling negative correction. You are a blessing to these children & their parents. Keep doing God's work! ✝️🙏🏾💜👏🏾🙌🏾👍🏾🙂
THIS BARBER IS A BLESSING💝.
OMG...I love this man's patience and compassion! Lord!!❤🎉 And Lil Man trusts him now!!! I love this for ALL the reasons!!
That smile at the end…. Great job mr. Jackson!
I admire this wonderful gentleman more than words can say! God Bless you Sir!❤️
You’re such a blessing to these families Sir! Johnny looked in the mirror and stopped crying when he saw his own beauty.
God bless the Barber, the sweet little Angel, and the family.❤️❤️
I absolutely love your content! Thank God for you!! This young man’s behavior changed in just 2 visits! Your videos are heartwarming and encouraging.
The baby smiled at the end after being touched by the clippers. He was roud of himself for getting through it. That was everything. Job well done.
I'm retired now but I used to work with our beautiful children with special needs. Your pure heart and patience with this little one was a joy to see. God bless you sir! ❤
When he came back and put his head down for you just melted my heart!!!!💜
The barber understands how to work with children
Mom bring him back to this man
God always send you an Angel we just have to stop and listen
This why he send his son Jesus Christ to help us out but we have to listen
Now if you don’t understand ask again Jesus will show you in a different way He will never leave us alone Amen 🙏 everyone be and stay blessed 😇
Thank you from a mother with children that has disabilities
This man has been blessed with the gifts of patience, love, and respect. And passes it on to those he crosses paths with. A wonderful person, in and out. ML&R
Mr. Vernon Sir … you are a gift from God. I pray you are blessed abundantly !
So Agreed I stated that before I viewed your comment.. So true
Thank you, Vernon, for acknowledgment and honour in Jon’s sanctity.
He’s such a cute little man, too. ❤
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 PRAISE GOD FOR YOUR MINISTRY 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏
As a parent of two Special Needs sons this brings back many memories of their early haircuts. I took my oldest son for a haircut, I held him while she tried to cut his hair, I think I ended up with more hair on me than my sun had cut off. I went home and brought my other son back for his haircut (the first barber decided it was her break time!) The second barber cut my second son without any problems (I was holding him also), he was so content in getting his haircut that I was able to get my haircut afterwards while my second son was sitting on my lap. 🥳 The first barber couldn’t believe the difference between my two sons knowing that they both had the same disABILITY. Now that my sons are adults neither one has a problem getting haircuts!
Man, you are gifted
Great job...very refreshing seeing the patience kindness and knowledge being shared as you work🎉🎉🎉🎉
Just AWESOME GOD BLESS the YOUNGMAN and GOD BLESS the MOM
I love this so much. I work with kids like this little guy, and they have their own way of communicating. You just have watch and listen, soon it becomes easier to communicate with them. This barber is wonderful! We need more people like this in the world.
He is so adorable and he listened to you and your calming voice with him. Thank you so much. Amen
God bless you sir for your time and patience ❤🙏🏽🙏🏽
You have good patience that was so kind need more people like you
He is educating mom on how to talk in affirmative !!!!beautiful!!!❤
I have an autistic son and it's not really the haircut that brothers them it's the sound of the clippers. My son hated the noise being so close to his ears. I learned to cut his hair with clippers at home and I let him watch something that he liked on tv to help calm him. Autistic people have sensitivity to sounds and it causes them to get over stimulized and causes more anxiety. Once they accept it its best not to change the process and they know what's going to happen. The little guy will be better the next time.
*some/many autistic people. Not all.

You are absolutely right about letting it run at home and massaging his arm at home to desensitize His fear of the sound and vibration. It definitely works with the children at My school.

May God continue to give you strength and provide all your needs as you give the best of yourself to these beautiful souls we are blessed with in Jesus name.
It's so heartwarming to see that even when he was crying and screaming, he still walked back over and offered his arms to get used to the vibration of the clippers or his head to let you continue with the haircut. What a brave little man and an incredibly kind and patient barber
