This sewing machine has one interesting story, namely I bought it at a local ad, very cheap, I don't remember how many, given the price we didn't ask for a lot of details from the seller.
The machine arrived very quickly, as soon as I picked it up I wondered what kind of weight this is, what is inside the package is it a big stone or a sewing machine. ???
I open the package, I have something to see, the Pfaff 230 sewing machine is in perfect condition, I can freely say "mint condition", its box is absolutely new, I notice that there are no accessories and foot control ... pity ??? but ok, let's move on...
I took off the top cover a little harder, but then it was clear to me that the machine was probably not used for years, I took off the cover and saw a broken timing belt 😏...I try to start the machine by hand it goes very very hard, the lower axle is practically frozen, everything is stationary but perfectly clean and dry.
I see the serial number 5810738, I conclude that the machine was manufactured back in 1957.!
I'm still trying to move the machine mechanism for a while, I notice that it's impossible and that the complete machine has to be disassembled and cleaned to the fullest detail ... since I love challenges, I did it...
When I started disassembling the machine, I also noticed that there was no dust under the machine, under the needle plate, no pieces of thread, nothing, most likely the timing belet cracked on the machine soon after purchase, the owner covered it and left it somewhere clean a dry room where she had stood for decades...??!!
The disassembly of the machine itself could not be recorded, namely in those years the Pfaff factory used a strange mixture of grease for the first assembly lubrication, I read somewhere that it was a mixture of grease and paraffin oil ... mostly this factory grease turns into glue over the years and most circuits have to be heated to dissipate that fat, it was a very demanding job to replace and recording all that was impossible, if there are any questions on this topic feel free to write in the comments, I'll try to answer.
I bought a spray for dissolving stubborn grease, a combination of solvent, mild heating, persistence and caution not to do something wrong, not to break some part ... I was most afraid of plastic metal gear and dismantling the assembly around it, that was painstakingly and very carefully, and the slightest scratch could destroy the gear, I eventually succeeded.
Everything was ready and clean to assemble. This "story" of mine will be in three videos, the first two are assembly and the third is a sewing test.
I did my best to show as many details as possible, but I admit that some details are missing, in some places you can't see the screw I'm tightening, some parts are placed inside the machine so presentation is impossible. I repeat, feel free to ask anything that is not clear.
As I said this is the first video out of three, very soon the second part and then the third and final test.
Finally, let me say that during the assembly I use a mixture of synthetic grease and oil for sewing machines, the ratio is approximately 1-1, it is practically like the first lubrication in the factory, afterwards only oil is used. Let me also say that video not have any accompanying music, I don't think it is necessary, and for the smallest detail there are copyright issues, there is no background music.
Greetings to all sewing machine lovers, spectators and our Subscribers.

Your videos really help! I picked up a 260 and it's very dirty. I'm taking apart and cleaning one component at a time. Your series of videos gave me the confidence to do it myself.

You have to be very careful if you intend to disassemble everything, some elements are as if welded due to old grease and corrosion.
you must pay particular attention to the plastic-metal gear in the upper part of the machine.!! good luck

Great job. Well demonstrated. The only deficiency I felt was the lack of lighting, the area of work was not illuminated properly. Otherwise everything was appreciable. Thanks for uploading this video.

Do you have the video that shows how you removed bobbin case assembly and reinserted? At 12:20 time point I didn’t see it.

I don't think I have that video, in this series only the assembly of the machine is shown, there is no time setting, it is difficult to explain, and to be honest, few people are interested in it.

I have bought a Pfaff 230 from an Estate Sale this week; it is very clean, I have tested the machine briefly at the purchase site, the machine lit up; the bobbin was empty of thread but the top part was threaded upto the needle, it ran smoothly (using no fabric); brought it home, pluuged in and showed my wife by running it smoothly; then I let her try, she ran the machine briefly with no problem, then she tried to run again and the machine jammed and is in that condition since then despite many attempts to make it work Took off the bobbin case and found no thread entangled in the bobbin arera; trying to waggle the balance wheel but it only would waggle may be quarter of an inch in either direction. Could you give us a hint on what's going on; or recommend any action we could take?. We are no where close to your level of expertise. Thanks in advance for your help.

First of all, do not try to start the machine with electricity, turn it off completely, this is to save the engine.
These are very old machines, completely unpredictable without detailed service, who knows how long it sat somewhere without any maintenance and lubrication.?
Remove the bobbin case, remove the needle, remove the top cover, remove the belt from the engine... and slowly move it back and forth by hand, lubricate all marked places with sewing oil... check the condition of the internal timing belt...? It is very difficult to memorize the place of the stoppage like this, it can be in many places...

@@MasinskiKutak Really appreciate your sincere and long reply; followed your instructions and the jam cleared; oiled all the red marked slots and the machine now runs smoothly (without thread or fabric); however, with all the settings set to Zero or default the needle is running for Zig Zag stitch (left to righ and so forth) instead of normal straight stitch meaning some synchronization issues. Gradually will get there hopefully. Thanks again for your help.

Maybe you should give up that job for now, you could create a serious problem, the model I showed is different, although the similarity is great, you can't turn off the zig zag,?? does the width regulator zigzag move the associated shaft in the middle, maybe it just slips, pay attention..? The situation doesn't seem to be promising, zig zag regulation is done in several places...

Merhaba 😊 İğne değiştirmenize gerek yok, önemli olan iğnenin ev tipi dikiş makinelerine uygun olması ve düz olması, Pfaff iğneleri diğer iğnelerle aynı.
İğneyi doğru yerleştirirseniz ve iğne kırılırsa, bu servis teknisyeninin incelemesini gerektiren bir sorundur, bunu kendi başınıza nasıl düzelteceğinizi size kelimelerle anlatamam, imkansızdır.
Bahsettiğiniz 25:58 videodaki zamanın sorununuzla hiçbir ilgisi yoktur.!

What type of cover and measures does pfaff 3o use to place an engine?
It must be the same as that machine.

You mean "are the motor mounts for the Pfaff 30 and Pfaff 230 the same"? My answer is i: don't know
What is your problem,? you have a motor but no holder? motors located outside the sewing machine can be installed without the original holder.

@@MasinskiKutak I wanted to put an engine on the Pfaff 30 machine, but the screw for the engine support is missing, so I wanted to know what kind of screw it is and the measurements, as the screw that comes with the engine is wider.

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  Рік тому

As far as I understand, the problem for you is the bolt that tightens the engine.?
I don't know what the diameter of the screws is, but the screw as a machine element is at least easy to find, it's an ordinary screw like any other, nothing special.

@@MasinskiKutak I've looked here in Portugal even in a Pfaff store and they don't know the measurements, they say it must be a screw in inches, the one that comes with the new engines is wider and doesn't fit.
Said screw does not reach 0.50mm, it must be between 0.48 and 0.49mm

I have a 332 fully funtional for at least 40 years. My mom used to sew for other people. Now I am using it for My clothes. In the last few days it has been getting thread between stuck between or into the bobina y porta bobina (don't know the name in English). Could this be a time belt issue? If so, how can I adjust it? Time belt is ok, although it has been changed or adjusted in probably about 15 years

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  Рік тому

What do you mean "stuck"? Can you take out the bobbin case, does the machine catch the lower thread, can you start the machine by hand...etc? If the timing belt is correct and well tightened it should not be a problem, it can happen that the "timing" is disturbed on the shuttle hook.! If the machine is completely stuck, unscrew the needle tensioner and remove needle, clean everything around the bobbin case and try sewing...
