I think it's strange that it's never commented on how messed up it is that people were making comics capitalizing off of Barbara's death and parodying it.
actually grandma Edith wrote that one(or helped to write) no one outside the family could have known about key in musicbox or crawl space in walters room so someone inside the family most have written that comic maybe the same person who gave interview about mole-man (aka Walter ) under the house
I absolutely love this game, have for years, and I adore the theory that there is no actuall curse but rather that all the members are just so used to blaming every bad thing on the curse that they don't even realize how dangerous their behaviour is. I mean really, the whole familie is a walking horror movie for people with anxiety about safety. Still absolutely stunning and a lovely game
Make sense,There's also Theroy it the Grandma eating actually how did a part in some of the deaths and she made those stories up to try and cover up the truth.
To me, it’s less they blame their bad behavior on the curse and more a lot of shit happens in 100+ years. Some people get unlucky or make bad decisions and shit happens. But psychologically, it fucks you up. It’s literally just a coping mechanism. A scapegoat is often a coping mechanism and a fictional scapegoat is a lot healthier than blaming a family member and ostracizing them… which unfortunately happens to the Grandma in-universe and what fans do to the Grandmother. People keep blaming her for the tragedies rather than grasping shit happens.
Fun Fact: If you look down at your feet while playing the game, you can see that Edith has a baby bump and can figure out she's pregnant before she mentions it in the game.
Among the deaths of the Finches, the one that really intrigues me is Barbara. Others can be explained easily or speculate on what really happened to their fates but for Barbara it has many theories on how she died.
I love the fact that despite each story being fantastical, you can find a true story within it, a little girl locked in her room with no supper, eating everything she can find including a poisonous berry, hallucinating about continuing to eat and her hunger eating her as a monster. It's truly amazing that the game tells you so much without shoving it in your face, great game. My thoughts on Barbara dying is that it's possible she fell down the stairs, or the boyfriend otherwise killed her, I think the slasher was the boyfriend trying to scare her still though
One thing I really appreciate about your playthrough of this is allowing the story to tell itself without too much commentary DURING the narration. I think some playthroughs comment a little too much when we really need to be listening and allowing the story to be heard. Really enjoying seeing you branch out on these!
The one thing I note very few people get about Molly's story is that the Toothpaste and berries she eats at the beginning. Toothpaste is not safe to consume in larger quantities, and in her time would have likely been dangerous as heck. The berries are from the Holly plant which causes sickness, drowsiness when a lot are consumed. Being that she's 10 , I'm sure the amount she consumed would be enough to kill her outright, and since she ate all that on an empty stomach, probably made the effects worse. She basically hallucinated her entire story as she succumbed to the poisoning. what I love about this game is the way the storytelling makes you want to believe the fantastic stories rather than the practicalities of how these family members died. It's an interesting analysis into grief and processing the loss of loved ones. No one wants to actually think of how their loved ones died or what they felt in their final moments.
When I first heard that the game was classified as a narrative walking simulator, I wasn’t expecting much from it. But the “mini-game” segments and simple puzzles were such a brilliant way to break up the monotony of exploring the house (and property). It’s a beautiful story, and I’m glad to see Mike playing it!
Damn, the nostalgia from 6 years ago are coming back.. I remember seeing Ihascupquake playing this game.. Also, a game called "The Unfinished Swan" made by the same developer of What Remains of Edith Finch explains what happened to Milton Finch
Hey Mike just a quick thing. I think Molly died of food poisoning since she ate all that nasty stuff. Those berries are in fact bad to eat. I’m so glad you’re playing this it’s sure to be fun and I can’t wait for you to piece together the meanings of the game
Yeah they're very poisonous a little girl with no one to check on them for a full night after eating all of those? Small chance of survival. Would also explain the hallucination. Very irresponçible to have them in a 10 yo's room :/
Well those look like holly berries. The holly that we see as a symbol of Christmas. She probably hallucinated a good while before she truly died. But would that mean she ate many inedible things after the holly berries before she died?
@@cakefrosting6451 ty ! I forgot the english name. Tbh she only ate the toothpaste and fish food before starting to hallucinate and those are disgusting but not dangerous

Molly ate holly berries which are poisonous. edit: Keep in mind Edith Sr. told the papers about a "mole man under the house" (Walter) and she had to be the one to tell the comic writer about the story of Barbara. Details in the story that they couldn't have gotten from a police report. She had a wild imagination and encouraged it in the family. That's just my interpretation of this game.

I'm so happy to see you play What Remains of Edith Finch. It's one of my favorite games and it has a lot of symbolism that would make a great story explained video🖤
Can I just say that I love this game; I literally played it through to the end in like 8 hours. It's a game with an interesting plot, immersive, and just overall a good game.
I'm actually happy that I get to see you play something else other than horror, SHB! Like, I know it's your main thing, but your soothing voice and funny commentary would suit mystery and other, non-horror games as well.

I am excited for another part of this game, I love the style of it! Also, I think Molly didn’t die from falling out the window. I think it may have been food poisoning, maybe it’s what gave her those crazy adventures of eating stuff?
I really like how the story of this game sounds easy to interpret but you still have this feeling that every story has an irony that we can't comprehend for the mean time. That there is more than what was written in their diaries. This makes it somehow like a horror game because you are expecting something unknown and the feeling of fear of knowing the truth. Looking forward for the next one!
I’m very excited to see what you think of What Remains of Edith Finch. I think you will find it a very interesting play, Mike. The story and the mystery of what happened. I don’t want to spoil anything for you or for anyone who has never seen the game but things get very interesting towards the end and I would love to hear a theory about what you think.
I agree with the theory that Molly fell out the window. She would’ve been hallucinating from the berries and fluoride in the toothpaste. All of the animals fhe she imagined turning into can be seen in her room (origami shark, cat ear headband, an owl photo). The ship scene could be her mind reimagining the story of how they came to America.
To be honest, I went into horror games cuz they have some of the best mistery stories out there mostly than the scary side itself. And not many channels covers them so extensively. So for me other mistery games you feel like playing are 100% fine by me. Keep up the good work bro.
So from what I can tell so far before next episode. Odin Finch: Drowned in high tides along with the old house. Molly Finch: Died from Holly Berries, Toothpaste and Uncleaned Gerbil food. Calvin Finch: Died from Swing Accident Sam Finch: Died from being knocked off a cliff Barbara Finch: Died via murder. Walter Finch: Ran over by a train. Was Memorialized by both the Conductor (possibly the one driving the train at the time) and the Finches.

I'm really happy to see you playing this game! some of my favorite of your content are the theories and such and I think "What Remains of Edith Finch" really lends itself to figuring things out exactly. Deer are also hunted for their meat and horns. Since Sam was a skilled hunter and based on his dialogue it can be assumed that he planned to either cook the venison or dry it for jerky, and then mount the horns on the wall at home as a memory of his daughter's first kill.

A great creepy/mysterious game is superliminal. Its more of a puzzle game that has really cool and mind bending mechanics, but it also exudes a very ominous and creepy vibe.
for those wondering what the berries Molly ate were, they were holly berries and are said to be poisonous. from what I've seen while looking these berries up, the symptoms appear to be the following: severe and prolonged nausea drowsiness vomiting and diarrhea these berries are also poisonous to pets, so it'd be best to avoid them while walking your dog if you see them. also, on the wiki for the game, if you look at the comments for Molly's page, you'll find one or two that seem possible to explain what was happening with Molly. one comment mentioned that she could have experienced hypoglycemia/low blood sugar while another one mentions how when she was choking, she was choking on her own vomit when she was an owl or imagining herself as one. all I'll say is that Molly and Gregory's stories leave me filled with dread, since their deaths were very much preventable
I've honestly never seen this game before. Always heard good things about it though and 8 minutes in I'm already feel sorry for Edith and her family. I'm currently brewing some tea right now which strangely fits what I'm watching. I can see Edith's family sitting around the fireplace with a good book and cup of tea.
I think it's strange that it's never commented on how messed up it is that people were making comics capitalizing off of Barbara's death and parodying it.

Thats Molly hallucinating to death from eating the berries from the mistletoe. This game is truly breathtaking.
That's what I thought
Yeah, holly berries are toxic and can lead to vomiting, diarrhea and hallucinations. Poor Molly died of hunger and toxicity from the holly berries.
I absolutely love this game, have for years, and I adore the theory that there is no actuall curse but rather that all the members are just so used to blaming every bad thing on the curse that they don't even realize how dangerous their behaviour is.

One of my absolute favourite games of all time. Always love seeing new players experience it as it's the closest I can get to playing it for the first time again.
Same god I always wish I could play this for the first time again
I'm glad you play this game, this one is really beautiful ! :D
I'm so excited for this!! I've had an obsession with this game for months now
So excited. Thank you Mike for supplying great Content! No one sounds like you, no one uses vocabulary like you, no one calmly runs through these horrors only speaking calm motivational tidbits lmaooo haha I just love it all. I went in just now but I legit appreciate everything. I loved when you did cooking companions ☺️💕👑🙏🏽
Turned this on as something to fall asleep to but that was hours ago, this game was so good! Definitely gonna look up the Milton game !
Keep doing what makes you happy because it shows when you're enjoying yourself 😊
I'm excited you actually decided to play this game! It's one of my favorites and I'm excited to see how you would explain this story if you are ever going to create a story explained video. I hope I get to see more videos with these types of games since for me its really relaxing.
I love this game so much!!
I already saw playthroughs of the game a long time ago but I was SO excited to see you play it now too 😍
I'd love to see you play more games from different genres in the future 💕
This has been one of my favorite uploads!! I’m so excited for more videos! :)
It's a good game with crazy background history. Twisted history.
FINALLY I am so excited for you playing this.
Will you make a edith finch story explained? Because I would love to watch that!
I avoided other UA-camrs play this game just for Mike to play it, finally i’ll be able to understand the hype that is going around with the game, thanks Mike! 😂❤
Oh my goodness I loved this thank you! Please do the rest!
Omg finally!!! Ive been waiting for u to play this thank uuu😭😭😭
A great creepy/mysterious game is superliminal. Its more of a puzzle game that has really cool and mind bending mechanics, but it also exudes a very ominous and creepy vibe.
If you scroll the camera down you can actually see her baby bump
This is one of the best games you played and i love it when you are so silent and just play the game.🤗
FINALLYYYYYYYY, This game is amazing, glad to see Mike play this game. It's so interesting and amazing
for those wondering what the berries Molly ate were, they were holly berries and are said to be poisonous. from what I've seen while looking these berries up, the symptoms appear to be the following:
severe and prolonged nausea
drowsiness
vomiting
and diarrhea
these berries are also poisonous to pets, so it'd be best to avoid them while walking your dog if you see them.
also, on the wiki for the game, if you look at the comments for Molly's page, you'll find one or two that seem possible to explain what was happening with Molly. one comment mentioned that she could have experienced hypoglycemia/low blood sugar while another one mentions how when she was choking, she was choking on her own vomit when she was an owl or imagining herself as one.
all I'll say is that Molly and Gregory's stories leave me filled with dread, since their deaths were very much preventable
When I first heard of this game, it intrigued me so much. I love the story of this game and am excited to see you break it down!
Recently I saw a gtlive about this game and the game theory posted the same day weird
I remember this game but not the title. Thank you for bringing me back to my late teen hood, Mike
The visuals are so amazing!!!!! Please do more of these kinds of game.
Who would’ve thought a family tree would get this dark and disturbing? It’s more interesting when it could let you control the game.
Can't wait for him to do not only horror games but also games with horror elements as well
Ahhh this is such an amazing game and seeing my favourite UA-camrs play it is just the coolest thing!!
