- The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan is facing staunch resistance to his ULEZ expansion plans and across the capital protests have erupted against the expansion. In parts of the capital the ULEZ cameras themselves are being damaged or removed by the British public who are determined resist the Mayors plans.
London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) already covers the centre of London between the north and south circular roads, but now it’s set to cover all of Greater London by 29 August 2023.

Anyone who's older, or has kids knows this is crazy and threatening to the ordinary person. If worse should happen (maybe a violent riot, or a terrorist arrack) and I need to get my loved ones out of an area, what am I going to do if my EV is flat? Or do I keep a can of petrol in my garage to power my normal vehicle for emergencies? If the alternative is getting a bus then eff that. People with loved ones really need to seriously consider this.

They have already mentioned a charge per mile, this will be followed by a charge for the weight of your vehicles , wonder what this will mean when they start taxing electric vehicles for their use of the road. Electrics are going to rip the roads to shreads.

Sadiq Khan’s, to reduce toxic air by expanding the ULEZ to greater London will not work.
He doesn’t really care about toxic air quality and here is why:
- He has already made the toxic air far worse since he has introduced the LTN’s which have increased the toxic air on the main roads because we are forced to use them as there are no other alternatives, especially during rush hour. The roads are now grid locked with traffic moving at walking pace and the fumes are getting denser and not dispersing. LTN’s need to be reopened as it is causing more damage than good.
Among all this, the mileage in vehicles has also increased due to the fact that we are forced to go the long way round to get to the required destination - all accumulating to even more emission being emitted! Bravo Sadiq & team.
- The health for pedestrians and children as they walk along these main routes to get to stations, schools, shops is deteriorating. Even the drivers inhale more fumes when we are stuck in stationary traffic. This is really aggravating and makes no sense!
- Cycle Lanes: Should not be taking up an extra lane of the roads, large pavements could be divided into two for cyclists.
- The introductions of 20MPH roads are also a problem because emission fumes don’t disperse quickly and the air is getting even more polluted because of the need to drive in lower gears.
Sadiq’s statement: “It is to reduce toxic air pollution” is clearly not accurate and is making matters worse. The situation is getting extremely out of hand and something needs to be done to stop him from ruining our climate even more. He should resign and Londoners should vote for someone who will make London a greater and more desirable place to live in. There needs to be a more logical and strategic plan that is well thought.

it's happening in places like surrey - they call it something different like congestion charge, low traffic neighbourhood, 15 minute city, 15 minute neighbourhood - but they are all the same - removal of vehicles and restriction of movement - they should come and be truthful (unlikely!) and call them as they are - 15 minute prisons.

Here's a question that's just sprung to mind, if paying the ULEZ charge actually neutralised the emissions your vehicle generated, then it's worth paying. However, I'm not aware of a system that achieves this. So if the ULEZ charge doesn't stop drivers from using high emissions vehicles, and it doesn't neutralise the emissions generated, what is the point of the charge (except maybe to deter you from using the vehicle?), but more importantly, what is the money being spent on because I'm pretty sure it's not being spent on neutralising emissions.
Khan needs the money because london is always broke, khan is financially inept & the goverment are sick of bailing him out, he's destroyed transport for london.

This is how you know it's not about the environment, and all about control: A better use of money would be just to fund the busses and subways to the point where they are free to use. Watch people's habits change regarding public transit. And it wouldn't require any teams of people to do this or hardware or software implimentation. Just one action, and watch poor people feel the benefit, the streets become less congested, and all the while rich people are not taxed at all. (since this would STILL cost fewer tax dollars than any ULEZ or other big-government control measure).
