Honestly, I don’t feel it’s that different than the sanctional events we had in 2019. I think it’s going to be most confusing figuring out who qualified through which means, which was also an issue in 2019.
Nice, as someone who is into the sport but don’t always have time to keep myself updated on everything that is happening I like this kind of news segment to bring me up to speed.
I had set a goal to make quarter finals after 2023. 2024, changed to top 25, made me mad, but I was pregnant anyway... Now they get rid of them when I was ready to get it haha.
I do think Crossfit is somewhat chaotic as to what it is or wants to be. On one hand it wants to be a process to help people become fit. In this regard it is community oriented and fits the statement Crossfit is for everyone. To this end, the open, community cup, and other affiliate events, provide the local members of the Crossfit affiliates to test their fitness against other members of Crossfit affiliates. This is a good thing. BUT, on the other hand, the Games Season, is largely for the elite professional athletes. In this regard the Crossfit Games are more like professional sport event. The games are clearly NOT for everyone. This is not community based but exclusive. These athletes are largely sponsored full time athletes. At best the only real connection between these two things, is that the Games becomes largely a marketing event to draw interest to the affiliates. I don't think Crossfit HQ has a good understanding of these aspects and how or if they can work together.
I agree with a lot of this…especially that HQ sometimes fails to have a good understanding of how to partner “CrossFit: the professional, competitive sport” and “CrossFit: functional movement to live a healthier life”. But I think it can do valuable to try and find a way to partner both of those things as opposed to separating them. The games can be a great representation of what this fitness methodology can do and expose more people to it. The age groups are especially inspiring. I think it can really benefit HQ to try to tap into that.
Not chaos lol. Its not that complicated until you try to say it out loud. 2019 Season was very similar and was fun... Made it like a longer pro season (WFP??? 😅). We've done this before, we can do it again.
It’s funny when people (not you) complain about CF and claim HQ never listens to “the people.” And then, when HQ makes changes, they complain about HQ not being consistent. 🤦🏻♂️
CrossFit Games organizers are confused about what they want The Games to be. Of course, we the audience are all confused also. It’s unfortunate there’s no Dana White equivalent in the CrossFit space.
I agree! They’re figuring it out on the fly because it wasn’t started with the intention of being what it has become. It was backyard throw down that has evolved into a full time career for some.
The problem is the games and expectations around the games changed, grew, & evolved. Certain individuals within CrossFit want to still run and control it like it’s still a ‘backyard throw down’. That’s why the last 5 years or so have been so disjointed.
This shit is confusing for the viewers too! I have no idea wtf is going on (and I’m watching videos explaining the shit) and I’ll probably miss seeing any of this.
Awesome update! Love having you back with your news/break downs. Hope to see you out at NCC, it’s going to be EPIC!
Definitely hope to attend!!
Good insight!
Thank you!
There is alot of confusion and chaos heading into this season with no real direction. I will just wait and watch whenever events pop up

Glad you enjoyed it!
9:00 The reason we did this is to earn more revenue from the community. Dave Castro decoded.
While CrossFit is a fitness methodology, it’s also a business…almost all businesses want to make money. CrossFit is no different in that way.
Tia is super loyal to CF.
If that’s so, I wouldn’t blame her. She’s built an empire based on being the CrossFit Games champion.

Bummer! But you can still try and get that top 10% in the open! Rooting for you!

Totally agree that we can do it again!

Agreed!

The first CrossFit games were in 2007, seventeen years is not on the fly, they are a shambles, nobody should try to make excuses for the HQ.

I finished in the 98th percentile last year and was nowhere near a “pro” level.
😬😂
Get Castro and Faul out. Those are the changes that NEED to happen.
I’d be surprised if that happened this season.
@@Amanda_Hari It’ll probably never happen for Creeper Castro. He had too many cult followers.
The company CF will never attract new or hold in to old fans of the sport, with this sh€/show.
I think only time will tell! But I wouldn’t be surprised to see open registration go down this year.
This shit is confusing for the viewers too! I have no idea wtf is going on (and I’m watching videos explaining the shit) and I’ll probably miss seeing any of this.
The Open (end of February-March) and The Games (August 1-3) have very similar dates to past years. It’s just the middle that’s a little wonky.
