We were in Murchison during the school holidays and nearly did this this, I've biked it and been through in a vehicle but my family have not. The bridge is cool for dropping big rocks off too. Great video.
Years ago (mid 80s) when they were gold mining at horse terrace, they bought in a 120 ton "demag" digger over this little track. No boom or bucket on it to save weight etc. It fell through the road into the pakihi swamp at the top of this saddle and they had to bring 1, maybe 2 d11 dozers up from the mine to winch it out.
Always an enjoyable little side track off the highway. Gets tight in a large truck

How long did it take from the turnoff to Murchison?
It was probably about 2 easy, take your time, hours.
