They're (Micron) building a huge new fab near me (Manassas, VA) not sure if they're gonna produce crucial products there or just fancy chips for the defense industry but either way it's pretty cool. There's not many American companies still on the cutting edge of consumer PC hardware so I always try to support crucial if they've got a competitive product (unlike Intel).

    Hi Buildzoid again,
16 years ago I bought an Asus Rampage Extreme, a QX 9650 and a 4 Gig kit of Crucial Ballistix Tracer.
I managed to get the CPU to 4.2Ghz and the ram to just over 1900mhz.
After messing with Gunning Transceiver Logic and memory timings and voltages for FSB which was on H2O
I didn't think this was a bad OC. To get the FSB from 1333Mhz to 1907 and the CPU from 3.0Ghz to 4.2 after only 2 months of blue screens and failed posts was for me an exiting achievement.
The main point is Crucial(Micron) make some awesome chips.
PS. The LEDs on the modules were gimmicky at first but proved really useful because if the OC had failed
they would freeze up way before you saw the OC failed post screen. Brilliant kit. Then again in 2004 £156 for 4 gig was a bit on the high side but well worth it.. Love your channel.

Only issue is, it's not quite that simple. DDR stands for "Double Data Rate", so the math is actually 5100 / 2 = 2550 MHz, so the IF would need to be clocked to either 2550 MHz for 1:1 ratio (likely impossible) or 1275 MHz for 2:1 ratio (so much slower).

Are you going to tighten timings on video card memory?

You have been recommending their Balistix line for a while (at least for those that want to overclock RevB, or just run with XMP), so I assume you are on their 'good' list.
Also, if I am not wrong, AMD APUs should not be chipplets, or at least not the new 4000 series APUs. I don't know how memory would overclock on those, but you could try to get your hands on one and test it. Would not be cheap, or easy to get a 4750G though

What we need is 7200mhz RAM so we can run 2:1 FCLK. Maybe Ryzen 3rd gen has an adjustable divider instead of just 2:1?

    5100 sounds fast, but I"m happy with 3800 CL14 FCLK 1900

You need to be a little less self deprecating, because this isn't a video about nothing. Here is something that we probably wouldn't have learned if they sent it to someone else: Crucial's "none insane" RAM can still be overclocked insanely. I didn't hear from Linus about how they really did this, nor about how much they broke the mold, so the information you provided is really cool.
On Ryzen you should probably OC the Infinity Fabric as much as you can, then drop the speeds to match that and see how much timing you can pull. On Intel... do you think anyone will let you borrow a good i9? I saw a Der8auer video today and he was saying how his Intel chips are pretty crappy too, it seems to be an issue.

    G'day Buildzoid,
It would be interesting to see how low you can get the timings at 1:1 IF on AMD at 3600/3800MHz,
I really like the look of the current Gen Crucial Ballistix RAM, I have my Editing PC with R9 3900X (PBO on), X570 Tomahawk & Ballistix running at their 3200MHz XMP, just gotta go back & find the OC vid you did to get to IF & RAM to 1800/3600 or 1900/3800 😁,
This is not a 'nothing video', 'I really enjoy your Rambling about a product videos Buildzoid, especially on a 'Bad Day' (having quite a few this year), I find your voice very calming & I always learn something worthwhile about the technical side of PCs 🥰
I like how Crucial put the Instructions for the Padlock in the case 🤨,
'Crucial Help Line, How can I help',
'I can't get the padlock open for my Ballistix 5100 RAM, where are the instructions'
'They are in the case, Glad I could help'

The infinity fabric connects the two ccx's right? So couldn't the 3300x ignore the infinity fabric for really high performance as it only uses one ccx?

How about running these RAM kits with Ryzen 5000 series CPUs ? They should work @ 1-1-1 ratio, right ? November 5 isn't far from now, and you could get an earlier sample, couldn't you ?

Try it on a msi motherboard like you did it on that cheap 4gb 2133 stick, that you take to 4000 or something like. You always have luck with the mem overclock on intel platform on msi MB. Good luck, friend
