It's shocking he is leaving but what shocks me more is that his smile is gone. He is a jolly person. However, it's missing!
Klopp has put so much of his life, heart and soul into rebuilding our great club that the cost has been his wellbeing. As Liverpool fans we understand that and can't be selfish in trying to keep him or be angry at him for leaving. Klopp gave us our self worth back, not just the trophies. He made us feel like true winners and champions again. For those few seasons we were hearing the words "best in Europe, best in the world" and as fans we hadn't heard praise and respect like that for over 30 years. He put us back on our "fuckin' perch" and we owe it to him to stay up there with the best long after he's gone.
Also, Nicol's negative view of Alonso has no basis in fact. Alonso is not expected to be a clone of Klopp. As a fan I don't want a clone of Klopp. Klopp was one of a kind and there can never be another like him. Alonso doesn't have to rebuild the entire team or club culture like Klopp had to. Alonso just has to follow on from what Klopp has built and like Paisley did after Shankly, make no major changes too quickly. Don't fix what isn't broken and quietly apply his own unique philosophy and style in due course. Alonso is more than capable of doing that.

The day to day pressure on top managers is relentless. Very few survive in one job for very long. Pep and Klopp are the exceptions. I'm not surprised he needs a break.
Of all the available managers out there, DZ and Alonso play a similar style of football to Klopp. And please don't even mention Stevie G. Club legend but not elite manager he definitely isn't.

I'm an Arsenal man and when Sir Stopwatch left, i wished him well but couldn't wait to see the back of him, down to his stranglehold of the PL. Of course he's one of the greatest managers, but no one else had money them days, only MU! But his antics vexxed me tapping his watch at Refs and all the atrocious decisions that went their way against us. We had big referrering problems before VAR!
When Wenger left I thought it was 5 yrs over due, for he had lost his magic for quite some years, so was delighted and looked forward to some one else.
When Maureeniho left, I would have took him and all his toxic baggage to Heathrow in a wheelbarrow, but one with a square wheel to give his some aggro back.
When Pep leaves I'll begrudgingly miss his style of play and he's an entertaining guy with Spanish warmth to even just watch him speak.
So, even though I'm not a Liverpool fan, this is the saddest Managerial departure I've felt.
And by the comments from other NON-Liverpool fans, many others feel the same.

Should have given the job to Pep Lijnders as he is Klopp assistance and the style and tactical should be similar and the most important thing is he knows the player well from the academy up to liverpool senior players.
Nobody talks about how the players will react. And god knows how this will affect contracts due up and transfers. It’s a death knell for Liverpool.
I disagree. The players will want to make Klopp proud of them. But the onus is now on the club to bring in an impressive Manager to match Klopp in some way.

It will be a big shoe to fill. Liverpool scared of going into the wilderness again. Every great manager will one day call his job to the end. You can’t keep on forever but as a united fan, he’s been massive. His intensity is great. Wonder if there’s a coach who can maintain that if he leaves.
