I think I got more ASMR from the clips of you in bed. The scene is so soothing. The warm lights. Your soft voice. The bed comforter looks so comfy. It relaxed me so much and so 💤

I came across a smaller channel today called "Musical Molly Khan" that you might take a look at. It's this lady that collects and reviews music instruments, nothing crazy, but she just has such a calm and happy demeanor, and I thought her videos might be a good fit for a certain ASMR crowd.

Rich from Let's find out asmr is also one of my favourites! Especially his whispered videos...and when he does old books I'm basically over the moon with joy lol! I recently found out he has a baby now though, so I'm curious how he'll continue his channel.. I hope he'll be able to, but I'm sure he'll find a way!

i cant tell if that guy (7:45) has a hyperactive disorder, loves attention, or is taking the piss out of ASMR. the excersize ball thing at the end makes me think the whole thing is a joke. however im very sensitive to ASMR so it gave me tingles haha :)

While it is giving me tingles, i like asmr Videos where the Intention of being relaxing is obvious and that guy is pretty much the opposite of that

Do you think you’ve built a dependency on listening to asmr to fall asleep? Is it bad if your dependent on sleep aids to fall asleep? Do you think it would be better to fall asleep on your own without these aids? Just some questions I had, love your channel and content!

I used to watch podcasts quite a bit, but I always found myself intently listening to them rather than falling asleep. Love to learn new things, especially from Eric and some guests on the JRE. Haven't found myself on any podcasts lately, been trying to keep busy with writing a book and graduating college.
I certainly look forward to trying out barefoot running and the nicer weather coming soon in Iowa.

Me and my partner have also recently been on separate sleeping schedules (me at like 11pm or 12, him at 4 or 5 am) and we’ve been trying to get him on a more convenient schedule; so I understand where you and your girl are with that. Cudos to you for trying to improve your sleep so that you guys can get your rest together. Good luck and great vid!!

Wow Jerry B. Jenkins! That's a blast from the past. His fictionalized retelling of the book of Revelation was so popular with evangelical Christians in the U.S. that it basically changed popular theology overnight. I would credit primarily those books for being the reason so many American evangelicals seem to be hell bent on destroying the earth (thereby hastening "the rapture") instead of making anything better. Really weird and fascinating phenomenon.

I’m very jealous of anyone who can sleep on demand. I have been a chronic insomniac since I was kid, it’s very unpleasant both physically and emotionally. I feel it makes you feel different from other people, alone, isolated etc.

  • @cinnabun2439

I'm much the same, I need something somewhat engaging, but an easy topic to understand to listen to so my brain is distracted enough to fall asleep, but not to distracted that I don't sleep at all. I usually listen to Stuff You Should Know, they've been around for years and have a huge catalogue so no shortage of "light" episodes and both hosts talk in a nice even tone. I would also recommend Phillip Adams from the radio show Late Night Live (on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's radio network). His voice has a nice deep, even toned quality and he has super interesting guests from around the world that talk about lots of social topics.
Edit: check out Philip's interview with Noam Chomsky on UA-cam.

I was listening to the "My favorite sleep podcasts" section and how you mentioned having trouble falling asleep if the material isn't mentally stimulating enough. I would highly recommend checking out The French Whisperer ASMR, his content is very interesting and relaxing as well, ranging from Historical and Mythological. There are dozens of videos and I believe most of them are also on Spotify. He also reminds me of Let's Find Out ASMR as well so I hope you like him!

Another tip would be Dr Todd Grande's channel. He's not so much running an asmr channel but he does have that calm stoic voice that basically makes you fall asleep if you listen to it long enough. However he is a psychologist and treats one of my favourite topics: mental health analysis of any kind of case. Mostly recent cases that were in the news in America and/or worldwide. He also has a lot of mental health analysis videos about serial killers. Oh and the best thing: his dry sense of humour is the best!

I tried to quit weed when I was in college. I was seeing positive results and some negative ones but was glad I was doing it, until about 3 weeks in. I couldn’t fall asleep at all. Not the first time in my life. Well I couldn’t fall asleep the next two nights either. I couldn’t multiply 6x8 even though I was in college taking calculus and that’s when I got scared.
Like you said, it is a form of torture. I remember crying because I couldn’t fall asleep and just how helpless it felt. I have smoked pretty much every day since that episode. Working out has definitely helped but isn’t the silver bullet some people make it out to be. I recall hearing once that you “get the best sleep” when you are both physically exhausted AND mentally fatigued. I thought they were just words but I think they hold more meaning to a doctor.
Anyway my theory is brains like ours, over-thinkers(I hate the term) just don’t get mentally fatigued, or just not enough in our typical lives. I have taken anti depressants, but I don’t believe most of those drugs get the result we would want. As far as I know there is no medication that will “slow down your brain” but not also put you into a fog or make you an emotional zombie or something to that effect.

Those are not common in America as far as I'm concerned, but I'm fairly certain we just call them bladders. Sorry if that's wrong.
Edit: Upon further research, they are advertised as water bottles... I'm still calling it a bladder because it doesn't resemble a bottle at all😂.

I’m sure you didn’t mean to but when you said you were jealous the man found a wife so intelligent I couldn’t help but be offended on your girlfriends behalf (of course I don’t know her or anything about her), if she watches this video I suggest you explain beforehand that you didn’t mean what it sounds like 😰😭. I really love the Mythillogical podcast for sleep, it’s a great combination of interesting research on the history of various myths, improvisation between two good friends in a sweet “these guys are obviously great friends” way and great voices with relaxed pacing. Also if you’re ok with/interested in strange stories from the past (some are gruesome but they’re clearly labeled and not salacious) narrated by an amazingly great voice you should check out obsolete oddity here on UA-cam. I’ve had a migraine all day in the recent past and couldn’t stand any light or noise but I found I could tolerate obsolete oddity’s voice and listened through his whole back catalogue while laying in bed, it was a tremendous help on taking my mind off the pain and boredom of not being able to stand most stimuli.

My friend, I was with you, until you advocated Tim Ferris, as a source of calm (!). Ferris is well-prepared, yes. He can get "A-list" Guests, yes, but...he always seems to be on speed, and he makes me cringe, no..."CRINGE!!", when he interrupts his Guest, with his predictable " Oh, I did that too, before you, and, I did it, several minutes, after jogging, naked, up Kilimanjaro, with Wim Hof " attitude.
Ferris is the grade school kid, who got punched, in the nose, by non-bullies, because was/is an insufferable, motormouth, name-dropping dick.
