In this video I have the job for this new homeowner of cutting back and removing some of this overgrown hedge !
They were planning to make another car parking space so some of the hedge needs to go!

Huge hedge row, what variety? Yes, some times a good hard cut back can create a better plant or open up an area. It's been years since shrubs were trimed up. I always admire the Europeans for their flat or town homes yards... very cottage looking. Its good you have a chiper. Looks nice, job well done

This hedge was mostly cherry laurel with a few extra shrubs at the end.

The cuts I did will help to kill the stump off as moisture will sit in there. 😊👍
Nice result but if I live to be 100 I’ll never understand why trimmers refuse to cut the hedges/bushes off the house. It’s terrible for both the bricks and mortar plus it makes a crisp, clean hedge job look untidy and unfinished.

Maybe so but in this case it looks like it’s unfinished and that you forgot that part of the hedge. Just my opinion.

Hi Mark. I've noticed a lot of your overseas contemporaries don't use chippers and are quite content to make endless runs to the dump with a trailer full of sticks and fresh air. Strange. 👍🤔
I don’t always use one but if I know there will be a lot of waste it makes it easier sometimes 🙂👍
