Can't thank you enough sir mcalllister for posting these valuable interviews with the master. Sir Russell's way of teaching young and aspiring guitarists is phenomenal. His 167 pieces of advice or something is a mine of information every guitarist would be wise to get hold of.
Thanks for the new videos! I activate notifications for the next parts. Let me tell you this is the best Russell interview I have seen, I'm so a fan of him :)
Before a performance I like to play with the radio on. Conservative talk is the best. If you can play with that going and keep your concentrations then you are solid as a rock.
Yup- and as we mature our ability to learn new pieces maxes out. The mind’s file drawers get filled, making memorization harder. It’s always a conflict wanting to play well from memory vs having to rely on the score in performances. Thank you Maestro for your insights!!!
I'll bet David's had plenty of experience with pagers going off and people being seated late. Some performers don't respond as well. Went to a solo jazz piano concert years ago and he (I'll call him KJ) just went off at those disruptions Made life miserable in the hall, people wanted their money back.

Though it’s made to look funny what a valuable lesson it is - thank for this wonderful post
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is gold! How true - picture next position. And stay humble, like DR, but believe in yourself!
Great advice!

Reminds me of the times when I would practice around my daughter when she was very young.
I know that feeling!

Master guitarist
Thank you!
"My guitar doesn't know that piece."
Que figuraça. hauahauahuah
👍
I would purchase a guitar anti slipping like that. Any suggestion? Ty
Hi Carlo, I get mine from Amazon and search for anti slip mats for rugs or even dashboard anti slip pads for cars. Lots of options.
3:33 that A sharp totally sounded like someone's phone ringin' in the middle of a performance.. lol
Absolutely! A Klanger!
What piece is that
Prelude 1 Villa Lobos
@@galleryofguitar thank you

A nightmare for the concert performer!
wow, this Russell dude is pretty good, he should really consider playing professionally
Haaaaa!
Learning to play is so much easier than learning to perform. 😂
Make sure to give yourself as many options to play for people as possible, anywhere and everywhere. It eventually becomes more familiar and relaxed.
