@@rebuzz6866 "people who are directly responsible" I honestly don't think Nicholas' children had anything to do with it; other than that, yes, I do agree that Nicholas himself wasn't that good of a ruler (though quite pious and a good family man) who's family didn't deserve death (keeping in mind they didn't just stop with the deaths and mutilation of the corpses of not just him but his wife and children as well as their servants either but also went after all of the Romanovs they could get their hands on, not bothered by whether they were directly influential in politics or whatever their personal views were, or even involved at all) Chances are a lot of what we know about the last Russian Tsar is simple Bolshevik propaganda where we tend to forget the minor details like the daughters working as nurses during war time (I believe Anastasia was too young though?) and Nicholas' anonymous charity funding and donations, he wasn't the direct cause of the war that saw the dynasty fall either. If anything, these people, who meant to do good and truly believed in God and were murdered for their supposed crimes (were the children and servants even able to be held accountable? imo they were innocent and definitely passionbearers) Another layer of somewhat counterargument (though I agree Nicholas could have probably tried to do things differently) is that the autocracy and nobles were very much corrupt, he had to appease his court just like any other Emperor, and those men neither wanted nor would they ever have accepted change. The murder of the Romanovs was absolutely heartless and disgusting, especially considering the five innocent children. And watching this film makes it even more clear how pointless and unnecessary their deaths really were. Great film.
Yeah, but it still doesn't justify killing the children who had absolutely nothing to do with the political drama and chaos occurring in Russia. They should have just sent the children to another country and banned them from Russia entirely. Not murder them.
In a monarchial dynastic system the family members are very much a part of the "political drama" just by existing. Once it became clear that they would or could not be "extracted" from Russia by any of the ALLIES, their fate was sealed. It was apparent to the Bolsheviks that they were "expendable". If they only executed the Czar and/or even the Czarina on a trumped up "enemy of the people" treason charge, if any of the children survived, the dynasty would have continued in exile with a direct legitmate heir(s) as the figurehead. The Bolsheviks did the expedient thing and committed these atrocities of their "liquidation" w/o a 2nd thought. In their eyes the thought of any of the surviving Romanovs loose plotting counter revolution in Europe, Asia (or the USA!) was a non-starter. That any of the survivors would have been allowed to live in the new USSR or lead a "normal" life outside of Russia is a fantasy.
Phil Ad, not all governments felt that way. The Provisional government had no plans to execute the Tsar or his family, and in fact tried to encourage other countries to take them in. The primary reason for sending the family all the way to Tobolsk was to protect them from the bloodthirsty revolutionaries looking for blood.
@@tlcetc4506Like every leader, he made mistakes. That being said, there's more than enough evidence that shows that Russia had thrived in many aspects under his rule. If WW1 had never happened, I honestly think the country might have improved even more.
The film is brilliant! Only Russians would have been able to recreate their one history so well. Apart from the excellent cast, what a blessing it is to listen to the sounds of this beautiful language!
I watched the Fox Studios animated movie as a kid and became obsessed with the history of the Romanov Family and researched as much as I could. 23 years after I saw the movie, my second daughter was born (3 weeks ago) and I named her Anastasia
In Jan 2018 when i went through the worst trial of my life that stretched out into a year, I gained so much strength from the Romanovs. I watched this movie and read every book i could find. They were my absolute models for how to deal with everything i was going through. Even now, almost 7 years later i cant think of them without devotion.

If you are interested in the life and death of the last Russian Imperial family, you can have a look at our recently published book, which features previously unpublished truths about their story: www.romanovs.eu/en-book
It is true that this is the most accurate Romanov film. The deep essence of their personalities is successfully depicted and the historical accuracy is remarkably good!
@@RomanovRoyalMartyrs Even though the authors of this film might have had the best intentions, the film is very far from being "historically accurate", and the way Nicholas and Alexandra are depicted in it is quite controversial. Some may like it and some may not, but regardless of personal tastes, the film simply depicts many of the events and characters inaccurately.
47:45 My tears are in my eyes. Alexei is such an angel. To protect his friend, he even lied to his mother but later he still asked for forgiveness. His mother definitely knows his little plan. But to protect her son, she pretends to be fooled. And the music is just about right. I feel sorry for the Romanovs. They should not have been executed in that manner, no matter what.

So, a couple of months they 'suffered' was more brutal than those hundreds of years the Tsars ruled, imprisoned, killed or exiled other human beings? Why, because it was their 'divine right' to shit on others, huh? Lol

I read that the actors playing the Romanov children actually had their heads shaved in the movie. Talk about being dedicated. Greetings from America. 🙋 🇺🇲

Very well done and it brings forth the deep sadness many feel at the horrible loss of the Imperial Family. A wound I feel everyday and will until I die.
Thank you for this upload. I will never forgive those who killed this family and in so they killed so many Russians. This was a tragedy that should have never happened. They loved Russia with all their hearts... Tsar Nicholas and his family are still treasured to this day. And I hope that more people will treasure them and always remember them in their hearts.

The EMPRESS Alexandra FEODORVNA Is portrayed in a more favorable light than I have ever seen. If I am not mistaken the scenes inside the ALEXANDER Palace where actually shot in the palace. Well done .
What a beautiful film about the most heinous crime of the centuries. This bittersweet movie shows the beauty & charm of the family amid their opulent existence mixed with the political brutality of their circumstances. The film company achieved the storytelling in a very proper high-quality way comparable if not superior to BBC/PBS standards for historical accuracy and perfection. The viewer becomes riveted. In the end, you realize the children were innocents, the girls virginal, the boy and heir but a mere sweet child, the Tsarina a caring mom, and the Tsar a devoted dad who probably just wanted to spend his days as a gentleman farmer and family man. There just wasn't enough hours in a day to also be Tsar, he'd have to be omnipresent. Definitely these people are saints or martyrs or passion-bearers, whatever the proper distinction. The film is long, in two parts, at first think you might not be able to do it, but in the end, you will be in tears and feel it wasn't long enough.
I saw a picture once of the Tsar Nicholas II shoveling snow, (I think it was during their captivity, not sure what location) but he seemed content to just be doing normal things like being outside with his kids shoveling snow and it broke my heart to know what happened to them. They had no way of knowing, and doing what they thought was right. The Tsar even gave up his throne and it was still not enough.
Your book is so very lovely. I gave it to a friend as a gift to make him discover the Imperial Family, and so I wait to have enough money to get me another copy of this very excellent book.
Beautifully done, so far I am liking the movie. Can’t wait to see the rest. I love the Russian language , although I understand they did speak fluent English amongst themselves.
I love this movie quite much. The actors are excellent. And I like the piano music we can hear played by the Tsar, I wonder if it's possible to find the score....

Yoooooo besides the ending getting to me but when the guys tore apart Tsar Nicholas's picture....dammmm my heart dropped man, imagine what he felt or what he was going though when he had no choice to to give up his throne?. Dammmm such a tragic loss.
They traded in for a government that in the long run was much worse, and more's the pity. The Tsarist regime under PM's Stolypin and Kokovtsov (1906-14) was the best governance Russia enjoyed in the 20th century - certainly better than the hellish mess of Ulyanov, Bronstein and Djugashvili.
He never really wanted that throne, he was a family man who was thrown into the role when his father died unexpectedly. He knew nothing about being a Tzar. The whole story is incredibly sad.

@@нинакошеленко-х8р we agree with you 100% Any serious historical researcher of the 21st century can easily read and see that Nicholas II’s reign was remarkable and he himself was far from being the weak and naïve leader or the cruel and bloody tyrant portrayed by communism and the West! The fact that these 2 diametrically opposite extremes were attributed to him should be enough to make someone think of the absurdity! Was it not very natural that a century of communist propaganda would do their very best to distort this truth? One only needs to read the (Russian) archival documents and sources. So he had to do it all, largely, himself. It's well known the Imperial family preferred to live like middle class- they were mocked for the cheapness of their private living quarters!! As for Nicholas, Imagine yourself in his shoes. Would you want to be the one to change the Dynasty? People say he was a bad Tsar, but I think the problem is Every Single person in his empire wanted different ways- it's almost impossible to choose one way when hundreds of people are telling him that their way was best. As a Protestant I don't believe in Saints, but one cannot deny the piety of the Romanovs in captivity or before that even. Nicholas may not have been an exceptionally good Czar; though modernly used sources are likely biased because of Communists. One thing is for sure, Nicholas was a good willing person with a big heart, and so were all those of his family.
The PORTRAIT OF A TSAR is a chapter in the book that looks into that: Just a few lines from the book: Nicholas was not, as various historians wished to portray him, too meek and mild to hold this position. Those nearest to him preserved a few instances in which the young emperor’s powerful personality became apparent. You can find out more from the book www.romanovs.eu/online-store The following two articles also discuss the same: www.romanovs.eu/weakness-of-meekness www.romanovs.eu/painful-points
Alexandra was Protestant (Lutheran) before she converted to Russian Orthodoxy and she was the most fervent convert I've ever heard of. 💙 The Church was the biggest thing in her life next to her family.

The film is indeed a good production, but the truth is that it has many serious inaccuracies, both historical and about the essential character of the family members. When you read our book, you will see exactly what we mean!
About the film "Nicholas and Alexandra" from 1971. Even though the film does retain a sympathetic approach and understanding of the imperial couple, still it VERY far from the historical truth(s). It presents them exactly in the way the West has always portrayed them (no need to get into details here). But it is justified a little bit because at the time (1970s) the Russian State Archives were not yet open (they opened with Glasnost) and most primary sources were not yet available to researchers. That's why Rober Massie's book with the same name, i.e. "Nicholas and Alexandra", also lacks in this respect since it was written in the 1960s. We hope this helps!
If you look deep into what happened to this family, you’re going to be enraged about what some of the executioners did to those girls after the shooting. Not hard to figure out what I’m saying. According to the source I read this from, the commander at that site was wanting to end these two men. But they were so short handed that he couldn’t spare the loss. That’s how brutal the Russian Civil War was at the time. It seems to be almost never mentioned here in the states, that war. They fought each other longer than the German in World War One.
The Russian civil War was brutal and the brutality brought to bear by the Bolsherviks was unimaginable. I personally don't believe the Bolsherviks gained anything from the extermination of the Romanovs. In fact the Romanovs are sustained by myth and legend because of it.
My late grandmother was a Romanov she and her parents fled the country in 1917 on a ship hoping to go to us but the ship beeing over crowded broke down in Istanbul never to sail again so they remained here later married my grandfather 20 years her senior she was only 17 had two sons iam the daughter of her older son
So happy to know there are surviving relatives. Are you involved in any of the identification process? DNA bases? Written any of your memoirs? We all feel very badly, and wonder if Russia would have had a different future and her churches?
The Russian Imperial Family were largely German, of course. Catherine the Great had no Russian ancestry at all. Nicholas II was, at best, about one-eighth Russian. The Court spoke French, officially, but English was becoming very popular. Nicholas and Alexandra spoke to each other and wrote to each other, in private, in English. So, the Imperial Family and the Aristocracy was very detached from the ordinary Russian people.
What I will never understand is how the British royal family refused them sanctuary? No doubt the Communist revolution was an unstoppable force at this point but the Romanov family did not have to die. This was the worst of betrayals, they must have felt the world and even their own relatives had turned their backs on them and sealed their fate.
I agree, that betrayed is one of the outstanding parts of this story. But what can you expect from "the royals" I know one thing and that is Tsar Nicholas ,his Tsarina Alex and their beautiful children would have sacrificed even the throne to save King George. So foul of all of them- it certainly wasn't "the people" they were thinking of, but their own butts.
Because there was a very real possibility the same could happen to the British Royal Family. Tsar Nicholas made his own bed and he had to sleep in it. Blunder after Blunder. Sending Men to die by Millions without rifles, ammunition and food. All these European Monarchs rightly deserved the Gallows with how they play with human life. Like a game. The only Royal Family to survive the War were the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's. Could you imagine having over 2 million Casualties in your Country. You lost family and friends. Half your town has been exterminated by the War AND Your King (England) allows the Family along with THE MAN (Tsar Nicholas) that mobilized his Nation and unflinchingly threw gas on a fire that killed your people and widened the War? Austria/Hungary, Germany and Russia started the damn thing. If I was alive at that time in England and My Government let those bastards in to live the high life...... uh ahhh.

I have been fascinated by Russia and its history for decades, since I was in my teens (now 66), and have studied it via books and documentaries. The Romanovs were fascinating, from Michael I, crowned at the Ipatiev Monastery, to Nicholas II, murdered with his family at the Ipatiev House, an odd coincidence. I do not believe Nicholas II was a bad man, but he was not a great Tsar. Unfortunately, he had been raised to believe that it was his divine duty to rule Russia, but he would have been far happier if he could have lived out his life with his family on a farm or small estate somewhere. He was a devoted husband and family man who was not cut out to rule a huge country like Russia.

@@RomanovRoyalMartyrs Thank you! I will check it out. When interested in a subject, I try to access different resources so as to get different perspectives on the subject instead of one researcher’s POV. For example, I have read a number of books on Rasputin and have concluded that he was not a “mad monk”. He was a crude womanizer who had a strong will and a semi-hypnotic ability to calm people, like the young Tsarevich, which was effective in reducing the bleeding and pain from his haemophilia related injuries. The legend of the way he died probably had more to do with Yusupov’s hysteria than fact. When I was younger, I read Russian fairy tales (along with the folklore of other cultures. I found Baba Yaga fascinating. I also remember that many of the tales I read had the message that if they could only get to the Tsar, everything would be alright. One thing I am curious about is that the video shows Tsar Nicholas II looking at photos of a woman who appears to be Matilda Kshesinskaya, Nicholas’s mistress prior to his relationship with Alexandra. Its worth keeping in mind this dynasty was effectively a dictatorship and behaved like one. The treatment of soldiers during WWI was a big part of the reason it fell but by no means the only reason.
I can't help think of the unwillingness and disinterest of King Edward VIII towards being king - he wanted a personal life, a true love, rather than the royal trappings he was born into. These two men seem to have shared a love of family and intimacy, over power and control. They were not suited to their times.

@@rebuzz6866 "people who are directly responsible" I honestly don't think Nicholas' children had anything to do with it; other than that, yes, I do agree that Nicholas himself wasn't that good of a ruler (though quite pious and a good family man) who's family didn't deserve death (keeping in mind they didn't just stop with the deaths and mutilation of the corpses of not just him but his wife and children as well as their servants either but also went after all of the Romanovs they could get their hands on, not bothered by whether they were directly influential in politics or whatever their personal views were, or even involved at all)
Chances are a lot of what we know about the last Russian Tsar is simple Bolshevik propaganda where we tend to forget the minor details like the daughters working as nurses during war time (I believe Anastasia was too young though?) and Nicholas' anonymous charity funding and donations, he wasn't the direct cause of the war that saw the dynasty fall either.
If anything, these people, who meant to do good and truly believed in God and were murdered for their supposed crimes (were the children and servants even able to be held accountable? imo they were innocent and definitely passionbearers)
Another layer of somewhat counterargument (though I agree Nicholas could have probably tried to do things differently) is that the autocracy and nobles were very much corrupt, he had to appease his court just like any other Emperor, and those men neither wanted nor would they ever have accepted change.
TLDR: They were good people that did what they believed was right, keeping in mind their good spirits and faith in God, humility and other virtues as well as pure devotion to doing good they truly deserve to be recognized as passionbearers after getting their lives robbed from them by these honorless criminals.
I cannot get ten minutes into this without tearing up. So sad and pointless and cruel was the fate they met. Not deserved.

@La Serpenta Canta hi!
I was waiting for a movie like this.❤️😉🙏
If you look deep into what happened to this family, you’re going to be enraged about what some of the executioners did to those girls after the shooting.

If I was alive at that time in England and My Government let those bastards in to live the high life...... uh ahhh.

Is it? And if so, why would he be looking at her photos?
@@RomanovRoyalMartyrs I would love to get the book but it is not available in the U.S. if I can ever afford travel to Europe, I will get a copy there.

📺 история Царь семья 👑 жалько 😔💐 Большое Спасибо.
Please do tell the name of that beautiful yet solemn music @ 10:35
Galibin- this is the prince Golitsyn! А ведь его семья когда-то могла бы взойти to the throne of Russia!
I'm sad. I truly wanted to see this. The English subtitles are too small, even with my reading glasses. I bet you it's very good.
We're sorry about that, Rose! We will eventually try to upload the subtitles in UA-cam (now they are embedded in the video) and we will let you know if we do so! Sorry!
@@RomanovRoyalMartyrs Thank you! That'd be great. God bless you!
@@rosemarie3784 God bless you do, dear Rose!
@@RomanovRoyalMartyrs Thanks! Guess what? I have great news! I found a way where I'll be able to read the subtitles! I watch UA-cam on my phone but I never use full screen. I turned the movie to full screen and now I can read them! I'm so thrilled! I'll be watching it over the next few days, parts 1 & 2. I think your channel is fantastic! Now, I have been asking the Romanov Family for intercession in prayers, especially St. Nicholas! I have no doubt they are interceding for you and the success of your channel! God's blessings be upon you always! 🙏💐
@@rosemarie3784 that's simply just wonderful news! Thank you for the blessings!! We will try our best to keep up with our work! All the best to you!
I read that the Romanovs usually spoke to each other in English- they were all fluent in English!
Empress Alexandra's mother was the daughter of Queen Victoria. English was for her a native language and she spoke almost solely in English to her children. Nicholas' English was also perfect, and he was described as being so fluent as to be taken for an Englishman. 😊
YEs, when you read their letters to each other, they are all in English.
@Phil Ad Alix spoke perfect Russian! She did have an accent of course, but she knew Russian perfectly!
@Phil Ad first, we kindly ask you to avoid using such expressions towards our project team, that is, accusing us of lies. Secondly, please note that apart from all the memoirs and literature of that time which unanimously testifies to this, there is an abundance of surviving letters written by Alexandra in Russian. We have plenty of them in our archives. Nobody ever disputed the fact that Alexandra spoke and wrote in Russian! So, please, let us not engage in any further fruitless discussion on this.
@Phil Ad that is perfectly correct - thank you for being so kind in coming back and sharing the results of your research with us here. Unfortunately, most people, are not willing to admit their mistakes and do not get into the trouble of gathering information. So, we appreciate your diligence. If you are really interested in learning many truths about the family, previously hidden or distorted, you can read our book. It is strictly based on primary sources and uses an extensive bibliography, including an abundance of documents from the Russian State Archives. It is written in a reader-friendly way. All the people who got it say that it is the best Romanov book ever. You can find it here: www.romanovs.eu/online-store
Its worth keeping in mind this dynasty was effectively a dictatorship and behaved like one. The treatment of soldiers during WWI was a big part of the reason it fell but by no means the only reason.
BULLSHIT. That's post-Communist bullshit... like all the lies about the NSDAP
One of the big problems was the Bolsheviks signing the peace with Germany, in 1917, depriving the Russian soldiers of the 1918 victory
@@sidoniewinterpasternak9938 For what? Germany didn't start war you know? Or the second WW for that matter
This is actually an amazing film
So sad hasn't portuguese legend! But I loved this.
But what was the home language in their home ? I know they didn´t always contact in Russian, but English or French.
Hello, Jussi! Tsar Nicholas spoke only Russian to his children. Alexandra also tried to talk to them in Russian, but they did use English as well.
They were so in love
One wonders how the world would be different today if this royal family had survived.
I was wondering about it a lot. It’s so sad what took place at that time.
They didn't.
I can't help think of the unwillingness and disinterest of King Edward VIII towards being king - he wanted a personal life, a true love, rather than the royal trappings he was born into. These two men seem to have shared a love of family and intimacy, over power and control. They were not suited to their times.
Excuse me, but David Widsor was unfit to be a decent human being, not only King, a weak willed puppet in his mistress's hands like dear Harry is today, and a devoted pro Nazi...how dare you compare him with Nicholas Romanov, who was a good father and husband, but lacked the strength to be Tsar?!
They could have been saved by relatives all failed them.
Not so simple. Relatives could have done more, but it wasn't like a tap of the finger.
so sad 😭😩 why king george V not help romanov family
How?

@user-md3yk6yi5d How did they know when Russian royal families would be executed. Nobody knows at that time.
Thanks
Painful to watch the tzar was God chosen King it was sad that he was destined to be the last tzar of the Russian empire love it a lot from South Africa
That movie is based from real historical as the accurate place and actors
Greetings from Indonesia
Благодарю Вас за труд!
Love it, master piece💜💜💜💜💜
Tsar should have just stayed on the train in Mogilev, surrounded by all the loyal troops. What a blunder to try and go back to Petrograd.
17:54 "Things will settle one way or another..." then the train scene... wow...🥺
Maybe Nicholas II failed as a ruler but was triumphant as a human being. Beautiful movie
He didn't really fail as a ruler. He was eaten up by the rest of the world's great powers who wanted to divide Russia in spheres of influence between them.
BS.
👍👍👍👍👍💯
