I am so hooked on Jane Austen. Just recently bought her main books, Letters to Jane Austen and Sandition. I know I have more to go. Thank you for your interesting and fun videos on her and her works.
According to James Edward Austen-Leigh, in his memoir of his aunt, Jane Austen's favorite author was Samuel Richardson and her favorite book was Sir Charles Grandison. "Her knowledge of Richardson’s works was such as no one is likely again to acquire, now that the multitude and the merits of our light literature have called off the attention of readers from that great master. Every circumstance narrated in Sir Charles Grandison, all that was ever said or done in the cedar parlour, was familiar to her; and the wedding days of Lady L. and Lady G. were as well remembered as if they had been living friends"
Wonderful Emma!! I've also read that the banter between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy mimics Beatrice and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. Not really an allusion - but I think I might check the play out on Audible just to see for myself.
Northanger Abbey is my favorite Jane Austin novel. I’m really looking forward to next month’s reading blog! 📚 📕

You can’t go wrong with Austen, that sounds like an excellent collection!
I've wondered for ages what that Emma and Henry line was referencing in Persuasion! This is great!
Thanks! The little references like Henry and Emma are so cool!
Great video, very comprehensive!

Oooo! So fun! I’m not sure about the play, but I plan on attempting Dorothy Wordsworth Diaries for my nonfiction. 😁♥️
I’m thinking Dorothy Wordsworth might be a fun group read on discord, I can’t wait to pick her back up again!
Loved this! I need to read Lovers Vows!
