According to James Edward Austen-Leigh, in his memoir of his aunt, Jane Austen's favorite author was Samuel Richardson and her favorite book was Sir Charles Grandison. Wonderful Emma!! I've also read that the banter between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy mimics Beatrice and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. Not really an allusion - but I think I might check the play out on Audible just to see for myself.
