All of this has humanized what we all thought was a monster. The Sheik was over in every area of his life. Like Terry is explaining; he was the Sheik all the time.
I was a kid and would love to read pro wrestling magazines back in the early 1970's and i was fascinated by the different regions and wrestling associations - and The Sheik and his pencil and his blood baths - those stories and photos amazed me back then -- I lived in the northeast so we had WWWE - when i would visit my grandma in Miami in 1970 and 1971 i always went to a show to see Jack Briscoe - a guy I would read about but never saw back home - those were awesome times - plus we had great new music coming out all the time - no cell phones, no social media, no internet - no woke, no PC - no way would i want to grow up now, no way.
The Sheik my favourite time of pro wrestling 60s and 70s only seeing some of these guys in magazines from far away in Australia. The Sheik was regularly on the cover or a story inside and for anyone who believed he would of come across as terrifying.
I tried watching the Marty jannetty shoot video, and couldn’t get through it. Marty was everywhere. I would have thought sabu would be the same way and I was wrong. Very good shoot interview.
I think it all comes down to the "stuff" they do. Sabu likes beer and the green stuff. Marty seemed to like well everything. And sadly in his interviews seemed to be seriously messed up
