maplestory from 2005-2010 holds such a special place in my heart. There was nothing like being a kid, having no responsibilities, hopping on the computer as soon as I got home from school, and waking up on the weekends and playing all day until bed.
Let me buy your account
same!!!
I remember these days, I spent way too much time playing MS with my younger brother, but we only had one computer at the time so we had to share
Literally man :( the old days were different
Oh gosh same. It was very fun back the. I’m wondering if I should pick it back up
All I can remember in the haydays of leveling for hours. . . .
"CC PLZ"
I was here first.
Lol finding and keeping a good training spot wasn't easy
I remember you share, tell them to cc plz if and they didn't you would ks them until they leave or they would come with a high level friend that could nuke the place.
defame please
PLZZ MESOS i nub
even to this day, f3 is still a staple in maple culture 🍁
I have memories on facebook of me back in like 2012 and i literally type F3 to people. They have no clue wtf im saying.
f3
i f6 that
f4 ☹
F5
I feel so old, I was there back when pirates were introduced. The game was much slower back then, I was considered "noob specialist" among my friends because I could hit second job in a day. And having a zakum hat was a status symbol.
Talking about old I was in my senior when I got suck into Maplestory and most of the playerbase were 15 and under.
sameeee
Me too. I remember that day vividly.
@@lordvasileLive well i played the beta and it was awsome cause it was when we were young :)
@@yoni115 Well I was a adult when i first started playing maplestory. I even drop out the rest of my Highschool(senior) to play it LOL
my most memorable moments are hiding from balrogs on my way to orbis as a new player xD we would have someone go peek and check for them and it was the most exhilerating thing ever xD
Bruh you don’t know where they are (could possibly right at the door🤣) but still peek. And if you die you have to take the ride again and it’s like 30mins lmaooooo
that first time outside the ship was a biiiig mistake
@@neoshung3656 hahaha yeah 😂 fun times
@@radezzientertainment501 yup... we all made it 😭
Omg you just unlocked a core memory hahaha. Peeking out and coming back in saying "no rog" to try and bait people to going out and dying hahaha
Omg! 0:57 my picture was featured! To think the day would finally come where I’d be in a Coppersan video, thanks for making my day Coppersan!
oh man when surfboards and snowboards were the polearm of choice :')
skis 2 :D
Lol I created an aran recently just so I could use my surfboard that I have had for years at the right lvl and actually use it as a main weapon than just a random extra weapon in my inventory.
@@qawqaw1481 I haven't seen a pair of skis in forever, that isn't a cash shop skin.
@@izaak1509 no man skiis are i belive gachapon items , a few rank of skiis , and they are spear category , not polearm , red ski orange ski green ski sky ski , lower damage , but normal attack speed vs slow for high dmg spears ^^ resulting in more dmg overall for time spent i think
@@qawqaw1481 Will need to look again then last time I did gachapon which is kinda recently I mostly only got work gloves and lvl120-130 pendants.
But all I want is more permanent pets. Because ms is now so annoying without one.
Miss the old maplestory
So do many. That is why oldschool ms servers such as maplelegends and maple royals exist! Try them out!
@@jeffstahley2176 what is the best from this 2 Servers ?
It depends on if you want a speed through or a more natural game. Maplelegends is more like the original game in terms of progression. Where as mapleroyals has what is called vote2win, which gives you a large sum of cash for free daily. That allows you to progress mich quicker. I personally prefer maplelegends and am currently playing on that server :)
@@ArcReasom both are trash the OG maple story is still best but nobody doesn't that kind of server
Man I remember when it used to take months just to reach lvl 30. I felt so accomplished
Yeah I remember being so happy hitting level 50 on my Aran and getting my wolf mount only to find out afterwards I had to pay like 15 million mesos for it
Dam now we getting aging and scared of health problems, like dude who even died from covid at 36. Fucking scary to worry about those nowadays.
getting to orbis and to carnival pq after was like finding a whole new world
And surviving the airship ride to Orbis. It was always fun seeing the newbs that forgot to go inside die lol.
I remember using cheats and reached level 37 in 1 day.
None of my friends believed me XD
i still remember getting stuck in orbis cuz i was too broke to afford the trip back to ellinia
Then you would " fame " someone for 10-15k !
omg. this is so true. i remember grinding so hard for lvl 70 just to get my third job... man... good times
i got stuck in sleepywood back in 2007 with my poor level 15 warrior...
Bro I use to beg the high levels for mesos
Down bad. 😂 I remember the days. Just going to hang out and have a trip.
I remember in old maple when u go to el Nath at low lvl, u can say goodbye to this char lol
When I was young a friend of a friend played Maple and was a noob. I didn't like him, so I told him to follow me up to the top of Ellinia's Tree That Grew and jumped off to Sleepywood. He thought I was showing him a secret and ended up being stuck in Sleepywood because he was too low to get past the Evil Eyes.
@@presidentstone7359 the good old times hahaa
do you remember the times of ks wars at zombies i sure do :)
@@DotaMidKnight123 Zombies, Scarecrows, and Jesters lol. Getting your high level alts or guildies to out ks others. Great times indeed!
@@presidentstone7359 bro twisted jesters was insane
I remember the PQ where you fight against another team to clear as many mobs as you can. That was peak PQ because instead of fighting to get in, you fight it out inside.
The carnival pq?
Monster carnival :)
Holy shit carnival PQ I haven’t thought about that in so long…..
lol I remember that, and it used to give me such rage when the opposite team would go “glhf” and then “gg ez” at the end
Tauromacis/Taurospears were my worst nightmare back then, lol. (I've always been mostly a soloist.) Took me forever to to do all of the Sleepywood quests. Also, anyone else miss Singapore/ CBD as much as I do?😥😊
Oh man, that was a nostalgia trip. I still remember sitting around chatting with people waiting an arbitrarily long time inside the ship on the way back and forth to Orbis. Trying desperately to get parties together (and into the queue) for the PQs. Selling fame for 10k. Doing long farming quests only to have my progress halted by a vac hacker every 5 minutes... Ya know what, maybe not all of it was great looking back lol. The community itself has always been fun at least =)
I still think the TWO things that killed Maplestory.
1. Potentials/Cubes/Enhancements - Just keep the old scrolling system.
2. Too many classes with similar abilities. Everyone looks the same and does the same whole map skill just in a different colour.
remember when u need assasin for haste? or u need a warrior for hyperbody, to give hp to low hp archers, Now every class is tanky and has haste. yep no unique mechanics for each class anymore.
That's the crazy part. I like the direction the game went in terms of content, with the story stuff and progression outside of grinding the best spot for hours (atleast to 200)
But the minmaxing is stupid, potentials, which are RNG, enhancement, RNG, old scrolling system was also rng, but you knew what you were getting, Cubing is just a way to get as much money from people as possible to roll a gacha on stats.
Same with classes, they could've easily kept the old classes much the same while moving the game in the same direction in terms of content and progression.
Now every class is effectively the same, AND some of the most iconic skills are gone, such as assaulter for chief bandit, dragon buster/fury for dragon knight (heck, it's not even dragon knight anymore) just to name a few.
Having all classes do the same is not exactly 'balanced' either, plus, the game encourages you to have alts for buffs anyway.
Also adding Kenshin to Kanna class. The most ridiculous idea ever made by any game designer. They should teach that in collage on gaming courses... Show them case of Nexon and terrible decisions.
imo the potential system is far better than the scrolling system mostly because scrolls were infuriating with how easy it was to ruin/boom your new gear which meant you had to shell out on cash items to what felt even worse than cubing.
Though imo the two things that killed Maplestory would be your second point (Class diversity getting thrown out the window) and the push towards the solo grind experience. Both of these turned Maplestory from an MMO into an MSO. I remember rocking the core trio of DK, Hermit and Priest back in the day and if any of us went missing, we felt it. These days we'd hardly notice as we all pretty much do the same thing and even then we'd probably be hindering each other due to the maps not being large enough to fit the massive attacks we're all pumping out.
I do kind of wish Nexon would shift more towards party play. The game was far more enjoyable when it was about socialising and the journey instead of solo grinding and how hard you can min-max your dps.
The difference between potential and scrolling was that scrolling was luck dependant but also primarily relied on your own in-game work. Ala item and scroll grinds.
Potential not only required luck but also had very stupid power disparity. Sometimes they give you stats you don't care about, sometimes they give you 3% of what you need, or you could go for 18% of your main stat/attack and +30% boss damage. That in itself was overpowered, but the worst part was, it required REAL MONEY to consistently cube yourself up to that level. You can succeed a random 10% scroll of dumb luck, but you would NEVER get a unique potential from the start, let alone it being what you need.
That introduced severe pay2win in the game.
2006-2011 were golden years. the feelings from playing the game was special
One of my first memories of Maplestory is axe stumps and dark axe stumps were super OP. Also the infamous slime tree.
Oh the nostalgia is so strong. Ive been playing since pre big bang, I remember the release of the pirate job. Never got far in the game pre bb but had soo much fun.
I’ve never experienced another gaming experience like the OG Maplestory. It just felt like such a breath of fresh air, might be because I was younger but the magic and carefree nature of playing an MMO on our sub par internet was magical. The community, party quests, the world building, and OST was a perfect mix of weekends being wasted away. Still looking for that online experience ever since. Much simpler times.
Wow, this takes me back fr. I loved how social the game used to be. Took me forever to get my bandit to lvl 30 and I was so happy
Are there any other games you would like to see? Was thinking of making this a series
MEIPERU SE TO REE ONLY
Might consider WoW or DotA
Two biggest
grandchase?
Crossfire perhaps?
Wizard101 could be cool
been playing maple since the beta test but haven't played much in the past 5-6 years. i watch these videos & it brings nothing but inner tears and bitter sweet pain for remembering the BEST time in my life
I think we all feel you Jimmie
likewise. the feels.
It was the best time in our lives and always will be. MapleStory forever. 🍁
"inner tears and bitter sweet pain" is right ...
Love this. I remember hanging out in 6 path cross way when they added the pirate flags/nest look out things outside what would be the path to the nautilus a couple weeks later. So hyped to create a pirate.
Man. Love these nostalgia type videos. An interesting topic you could cover would be: maplestorys biggest scandals ? The recent cube rates scandal and the subsequent compensation has me wondering what other kinda big scandals may have happened in the past !
I dream that one day they will release an official oldschool pre-bb server.
I remember the ol' days of tracking. It was a must in snagging a spot in PQ, but also an incentive to stalk your favorite #1 player training in the server...provided you didn't die on the way there lol.
I remember way back then when there was a party of people that tried to make the trip through Leafre to see FangBlade training, but I died on the way there since I was still lv 10 kek.
I went to himes and died instantly to see FangBlade training next to 2 other ghosts of people who had died doing the same thing, it was one of the most glorious things I've ever seen lol
I used to be huge into this game. Kradia born when adventure class was the only option. Lots of memories and good times. It lost its luster later on when one person could solo almost anything. The game has turned I to what private servers used to be. I have tried to revisit the game and while I ran into old friends, there is just so much content its extremely hard to get back in.
the game ended on the year 2016
Maplestory has been ruined .
The game in the early days was amazing as it promoted partying and interacting with others .
The slow and challenging levelling process was what made Maplestory satisfying to play . Reaching "Level 30" was such a big deal back then .
Now anyone can hit level 30 in a matter of 1 minute with the proper help and boosts .
Parties aren't necessary as you can solo bosses easily .
Talking to others isn't promoted because the focus has now been on solo than playing with others .
Ironically they overcomplicated the game thinking it would give it more depth by adding in Starforce , Item Rarity , New Uninteresting Bosses , New Uninteresting Copy And Pasted Classes , Boring Cutscenes and many more .
The old Maplestory is gone . The new is here but it isn't new , it is hollow and empty and devoid of any of the magic the old Maplestory once had .
It was fun while it lasted . What a shame .
yeah man they ruined the game from what I remember aroh dt he time they extended new leaf city with the haunted mansion area. they they added cut scenes and way to much things the whole game became co fusing and then they moved all the maps around like wtf. they removed fog I think at the time I couldn't believe it. forest of golem was a staple map. every 1 trained there for hours I suppose they just don't want money the idiots. they made bad choices I'd still play a official server pre big bang one.
@Erick Lozano yeah I would definantly give it a ago again if it was around the new leaf city release time.
It’s more grindy now, so your first point is moot. Parties are necessary for end game bossing like seren. Talking is now through discord with guilds like every other game. Games get more features as time goes on. There I answered all your points.
Bro I played maple back when I was 19. I’m 35 now & my kid be playin maple now too lmaoo
Yeah so Nexon, when the hell are you gonna come out with an old school server?
Then i would play it again
old school as in.. low mobility, insane grind just to get to lv30?
@@raulgal2261 it wasn’t that bad if you played back in the day
@@embarrased4326 I kind of agree, but back in the day we also had a lot more free time :)
@@raulgal2261 yea ain’t that the truth 😂😂
For those who are cutious there are a couple very lively oldschool maplestory servers. Namely maplelegends and maple royals. They both have consistent player bases and are free to play!
Great video! Also shows the sad part that it's mostly a solo game these days. I play with friends right now and there's just 0 to do other than grind in a map. Theme dungeons are Solo, PQ's give no xp compared to anything else. It's sad.
man, i miss grinding on ludi pq
I am an exclusive pirate player I only play after MapleStory mobile on iPad and I never played in the golden era of original maple story but I love it and I think every player should learn how to play MapleStory M
B> 30 Luk Sauna Robe B> 15 Luk PAC B> 10 ATK BWG B> Zakum helm run B> Maple Kendayo B> Steelies, Ilbis
I want to see more old school maple story
The only thing I really miss about OG Maple is the art style. It was EXTREMELY unique.
I've always been a mostly casual player who liked trying new classes so I really love what Maple is and try not to burn out on post 200 content. My main is only 211 lmao
What about the current MapleStory artstyle that isn't unique? Also if you could elaborate which aspects of the artstyle are you talking about, the background? Character design? Sprites?
@@aitakemi Honestly, its fine but I guess got more anime-like slightly
What it killed for me was the trillions of dmg u deal and the whole screen is just numbers
Great vídeo my man as Always!
Yo back in the day:
Party quests were the best way to level up
Fear the Balrog on the way to orbis
Sleepywood was difficult to get to(well at least for me)
Fangblade was a legend
You had to go through specific towns to get to others
The Open Market used to cause serious lag due to the amount of bots, scammers, and people in general who chill there
And the RANDOM BOSS SPAWNS IN HIGHLY CROWDED TOWNS WAS SO FUN
I remember being obsessed with maplestory. Suggestion: can you make a guide for returning players if they only have like 1 or 2 hours a day to play? I'm interested in playing again but it still looks like a time sink and I just don't have that kind of time anymore with a job and family.
You won’t be able to progress at a reasonable pace past like 220 but you could definitely play for like 1-2 hours a day and do a lot of content! I can tell you more details for reboot if you’d like but not for reg server :)
@@brcasalino Ive just created character after 12 years of break (Also playing for 3 weeks now on pre bbb priv server) and i wonder if this game has truely no interactions at all. I made char on reboot progressed to 50 in like 1 hour on burning and didnt even meet one person... only quest where i talk and talk and talk.. Even no killing. Is it truely game where You just lisent to storyline, rarely grind and always do everything solo now? Why its not single player game then lol
@@sinxdope4230 you don’t really see people till arcane river (200). I always see people before that though. The most popular (non laggy) channels are cc1-10 roughly so there’s definitely people there. The most popular is cc6 from what I’ve experienced. You don’t generally do quests (exception is the 3 theme dungeons from level 30-70), you grind. just search up a levelling guide. People socialise in guilds and in boss parties now
@@sinxdope4230 most social stuff happens when you join a guild, its pretty lonely until then
I started playing in 2005 when 3rd job advancement didnt even exist yet. Took me about 2 years to reach my assassin to level 50+, lots of manhours and PQ used to grind. I stopped at 2007 when my account got hacked.
I miss the socialization.. Now maple is so lonely
youre just not high level enough
i used to play this game a lot i remember grinding the party quests -.- you could cheese the tickets by unplugging and replugging your internet cable quickly so you could skip parts of it:P it seems it has changed a lot in a good way.
2005-2009 Maplestory
2010-2021 Payplestory
Maple before Big Bang, and early big bang were the DAYS. Still remember when people thought Mechanics were the END of Maple...RIP Kim Ju, the OG developer of the game. 🙏🤲
I remember playing before the pirate class was released. Saw an ad in game informer magazine to discover the game. Little middle school me did the math one time on how long it would take to level using Ludi-PQ. It was discouraging lol. Honestly the speed of leveling was freakkin ridiculous... but I wanted the bandit skill thousand cuts and assaulter sooooooo bad. When I got it? And I got my pickpocket pilfer hat? Jeeze, that felt so dam good and cool.
thnks so much for this vid. I used to play on 2006
I was playing before pirates came out, I remember it took me almost a month to get my mage to lvl 30 lol
That kerning square was actually released in 2007 in TMS, designed based on Taipei 101. By taking subway you can even go to Ximending, and night market in Taiwan. There were location maps like Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan in TMS. Not sure about in the other servers, would really like to know about it.
Unforgettable nostalgia
back in the day when level 70 was max and people had fame/defame wars due to channel stealing.
also the hated rng of getting 4/4 dice rolls for starting characters
i remember between the release of the pirate class and the cygnus knights (or at least before big bang) that i finally got my first lvl 30 after 2 years or something
*everyone liked that*
Edit: also I have no idea how you're so concise, you did the whole history in 10 minutes.. crazy!
ugh i miss that game so much... :3
Still hoping to get a nostalgia server some day. Maple is so boring today.
Guys, i love this game omg, first time in game i was 13yr old And now I'm 27 yr old and i keep playing this game, 14 years of maple ♥️
Omg same.. started as 13, soon turning 27. Keep mapling❤️
i like when rpg bosses needed to beaten my a party. now, everything can be solo'd kinda sad
i started in 2006 back then my whole class played was so much fun
myself played on and off til last year
now its just a solo game
When you reach to top lvl in mmorpg EVERYTHING IS LITERALLY AOE
On april 23 the game will be 20 years old. Lets pray they will make surprise new server with classic maple story. I am 100% sure there will be so much more players and they will make more money
Many people are looking to play 'new' MMO and its best moment for it since MMOs today are really bad (same goes to present day maplestory)
Haha, I loved this game when I was young before pirate class came out I was an assassin, (barely level 35ish) and after the pirates came out I was drawn to the brawler class. Quit after Big Bang shortly because I hated what they did to the buccaneer class.
Came back a few weeks ago and I am having fun and brought even my old irl friends back into the game. This game was where all my time went when I was around 7th-10th grade.
miss old maple but thinking of getting back into the game soon! who wants to join meee 🥺🥺
Dooooo it
I miss the old days where maps were full of players spamming chat non-stop. Guess we can't go back anymore :(
I guess 2010 is where things went wrong
BEAM ME WITH THAT NOSTALGIA COPPERSAN IM READY !!!!
i first started playing around 2008, which was my freshman year of high school. im so nostalgic for the days when reaching third job was a serious accomplishment that took ages to do unfunded.
I miss the pre-Big Bang days. The great community, the player gathering, and the guilds that were built in those days...
Those were the true Golden Years of MapleStory.
Henesys Hunting Ground I... Was the go-to spot to meet friends, make new friends, recruit people to guilds, get recruited, and simply just chat with others.
still couldnt believe coppersan still plays maple.. stay strong bud..
Back like to 2006-2007 my older brother showed me the game, I was sooooo damn clunky with my Warrior and my bro so fast as a thief
Nowadays he is the warrior and I´m the thief/Mage
and thats like 14 years ago....
This is exactly the same with my older brother, he showed me it around the end of 2005/6, he was a an Assassin flying around with Haste and I created a warrior, that took me months to hit 30 on.
I started playing in 2005 on the old beta server then in GMS Scania up until the Hero classes were released, back when we used to have to walk around every map and exploring Ant Tunnel was an expedition and chatting to each other as we trained in parties and took the ship to Orbis ... I still have trauma from almost a year of grinding my cleric to level up at coolie zombies lol ugh. I just started playing again and It feels like a completely different game especially with the solo gameplay style and sense of community is completely changed!! Thanks for all your videos it's been great to watch and learn what to do in the game again *F2
I am sad that MapleStory is so focused on independent playing.
Part of the beauty and charm of the game was enjoying the journey by party questing, making friends, and exploring.
With so much focus on endgame and bossing, it has become quite lonely when you are starting out and trying to make friends
I've been playing maple very casually since it first came out. Mostly for nostalgia and variety. The game systems being tied to irl money was always why I would quit for long periods of time. With reboot I've played more than I ever did growing up. It's still not the most accessible by western standards, but it's a good time now and again
It's just fun watching these type of videos.
So I was what like 8-9 when maple first came out I played a lot until maybe 8 yrs ago and now I have been playing a decent amount on and off in the past two years. Even with the increse in movement and the double jump and how quickly you can move to each new quest location I still find getting to lvl60 takes me a 2-3 days of mild playing(still like a solid 5-8hrs).
My main goal now is I have all 48 class maybe a bad idea on not the reboot server but I'm just trying to get all classes to lvl100 currently only have maybe 10-15 that are lvl100 or pretty close.
Damn I remember when orbis opened up.... When we FINALLY got 3rd job advancement. 😭😭
My buddy played from when we were kids in 2005
To young adults.. present day
RIP Billy. Miss you man..
The golden days were back when Zakum was the ultimate boss :-)
Gah, I do truly miss how the game once was, it would be amazing to have the social parts of back then mixed with the more doable leveling system of today.
I think what a lot of people are missing is that the vibrant social system of the old times was largely due to how hard and aggressive the exp curve was. As more and more players saw diminishing returns from training, many opted to enjoy the game in a social/cosmetic sense and it thrived in that direction as well.
Over the years, as leveling, training and bossing becomes more accessible to the casual player, you also see a steep drop off in players turning to social interactions to enjoy the game. I wonder how they could bridge the two worlds.
@@xDDufiosy i think it can be greatly improved if they just made partying more rewarding than playing solo. You should be encouraged to go look for other players to play with, but the game punishes you for that. This leads to a lot of channel hopping, where people just keep changing channels to avoid other players and if it gets bad enough, people will try to KS each other. Also, it doesnt help that most lower level content in the game can be easily solod, like normal zakum and Horntail. Even though Level 200 should feel high, after reaching it for the first time, it feels like I only just started the game. Training 12 characters at minimum for the Legion and Link skills to 200 is a grind most people in the current market wont endure. I wouldnt mind leveling up accounts if the game encouraged social interactions between level 1 and 200.
I enjoy the new skeletal animatons and I wish they'd make a 'classic' server or at least find out how to bring back party play into the spotlight.
Wow... Maplestory Classic is an amazing idea
good vid bud don't play anymore but might hop on sometime
RIP MapleStory 2005-2010 ;)
Dam the game i never got to play cause I didn't have a computer...in the 4th grade
2015: screen full of texture, props, characters and monsters
2017: screen full of numbers and skill effects.
as some1 who lived thru all of it, i can say this: good summary :)
If anybody else misses the old Maplestory and wants to do some party quests in Reboot add FáelánSylvan.
Love this kind of content! I usted to play in that exact time.
Maybe you could make a video talking about the rebirth classes. Last in the past Cygnus knights can only achive Lv. 120, later you could "rebirth" them in an Adventure class with a skill that allows you to equip an equip 10 lvls higher than yours.
Anyways, great video!
Feeling old yet.
Edit: Imagine getting Mark of the Beta
You forgot introduction of star force and how items in the past dropped with different base stats!
hours and hours in zombies farming money... jesus christ
this video makes me happy then sad. i wonder if i finally make the skip to reboot? i really wish the changed the end game and events to be more fun. i miss the good old days.
2013 kanna changed the training meta forever!
2020 hobo mule kannas: i thought our skill was foreverrrrrr!!!! (frenzy totem #1!)
I started during the pirate update. Soooo many good memories, too many to list down. My first time starting as a warrior, looking up builds and deciding I'd go dexless, advancing to spearman, doing Monster Carnival while we tell the other team to trade wins and summon Toy Trojans and Rombots, exploring Oribis and the other islands outside of Victoria Island felt like an adventure and I remember begging at the Oribis station for meals to get back home to Victoria Island cause I had no funds and I was barely level 20. That time I trained nonstop at Galloperas when I advanced to 3rd job Dragon Knight while a Cleric friend used Holy Symbol. Forgot to mention how special I felt because I was the class that had Hyper Body, and I'd remember people being like, "HB please." It was great. Gosh, I miss the old days of Maple and I could list countless good memories. I stopped after the update they added Xenon and haven't played ever since, but watching your vids, I'm happy to see Maple is still for the most part, thriving well, and still being constantly updated. Just a little ramble from an early days Mapler. Have a nice day guys.
Patiently waiting for nexon to add a classic server 😢
I miss the days when Zakum was a hard boss to kill
OMG, Fangblade, haven't heard that name in soooo long lol
Very enjoyable, thanks for making my evening better
Wow, just wow... I haven't played maple since roughly 2015ish, and I am totally shocked by your description of modern day maple. I actually picked up Dungeon Fighter Online (DFO) recently (which I had only played beforehand during the early 2010s in the Nexon era), and tbh, modern maple really just sounds like DFO with a worse gameplay loop... Borderline P2W, no partying outside of endgame content, really fast early game that essentially only serves to give you a feel for a class before you commit, a bunch of systems that are intimidating to noobies, ridiculous amount of classes, the need to make a bunch of characters, dailies/ weeklies, etc. etc....
Honestly, for anyone who plays current maple, why should someone play maple vs DFO? DFO's systems are ridiculously obtuse and require literal weeks/ months of research/ advice to get a grip on, but the gameplay is ridiculously good; maple still seems like the core gameplay hasn't changed, as in, you still just have your core damage skills, buffs, and utility, and you spend most of our time holding down a few keys to cast spells. In DFO, the gameplay is way more involved, and there are many classes that require a high level of skill just to play on an average level (monk, shadow dancer, elven knight, etc). What is the appeal of maple outside the art direction? Hell, I would argue DFO even has a better art style (subjective of course), because it is still keeping true to the old-school pixel art, whereas according to this video, maple has moved away from sprites.
Back in the early days when Constipation was one of the top players. Good times
