My family had an MDX and the 3rd row was used, probably, once in its entire time with us. This was evident when I went to vacuum it out prior to putting it up for sale and there was bunch of trash underneath those 3rd rows along with debris from years of neglect. People want these features as a just in case, but end up barely using them.
to everyone commenting without having done their research, this is the touchscreen found on the BASE RX. they have a much nicer and larger touchscreen on the higher level trims
The new MDX kills this RX350 dead, to be honest. Acura's V6 feels and sounds less anemic (likely due in part to the new 10 speed), and the new MDX doesn't look like a snoozefest to drive unlike the Lexus. Also, SH-AWD is far superior to the system that Lexus uses on the RX. I prefer Lexus over Acura, but not in this case.
I just bought a 22 350L over the MDX, based on my preferences. My priority is value luxury: ride, quiet, and audio. For those I trade torque, any pretense of sporty handling, and packaging efficiency vs the MDX. I picked the L version for its better ride and cargo room with the third row stowed, not for putting humans back there. I suppose someone could lie sideways. Thanks for another great review, Chris. It is true and undeniable that these Lexus vehicles can and should have more luxury, but again what more luxury than knowing that these will last a very long time, keep their value and probably won’t give you any mayor issue. These Lexus RX are also assembled at one of best plants in the world. Reliability in these vehicles are simply top notch and I will take that any day.
Watching this reminds you that lexus is still selling reliability as it’s primary draw. You have to pay more for a spec with a remotely decent interior which will look 10 years old on a good day.
Thats what I thought! When you look at the size of the new mdx and gv80s screens, this is kind of sad. Yes, I know there's a larger screen, but that should be standard on a 50k car.
The non Mark L base option sounds good. I've tried the basic audio system out on the NX300 and the IS f sport. It's not fantastic but it's very nice. Loud. Nice bass. They need to ditch the track pad in all vehicles and go to a touch option.
The 2021 sienna le stereo sounds like it has alot of bass that I can almost feel it in my chest but the sound quality overall took a hit when it comes to the tweeter. Never sounds like the treble can be turned up high enough bit there are 2 nice largish speakers built into thr rear tailgate and overall It kicks for a base stereo in the non upgraded LE
I am having a hard time choosing between the 2021 Lexus IS350 and the 2021 Volvo S60 T5 R-DESIGN. Lexus IS500 would be my ideal choice, but until its confirmed, if I have to make a choice, what should I choose?
Wife is going to be due in October and we need a SUV. Cross shopping with the MDX and the RX350. I really like the new MDX but that touchpad is something they need to improve. Even though the RX is older traditional interior it has aged well. ATM it’s still a toss between the 2 as the ride quality seems to be better in the RX

The way y see it is if you need to put someone that’s not too big back there, you can, otherwise you have a bigger storage place for luggage, groceries, etc. but one other reason is the AWD.
Just tested a new one recently. Little depressions in the road sent the RX bouncing up and down for a couple seconds thereafter. Seemed like the suspension was not dampening bumps/dips much at all. Did you have this same experience? Very off-putting/unexpected for a luxury car.
All these dumb people commenting about how small the screen is.. if you would do some research... you can get a pretty large 12.3inch screen inside there.. this is also one of Lexus newer designed SUVS and until you sit in one.. you definitely can’t appreciate how nice it truly is and feels.
Had a 350 for a few years. Meh. Buttery smooth engine and good looking interior but the infotainment killed it for me. Also, wasn't too impressed with the cargo space.

Why is the infotainment and interior in general dated in comparison to the ES 350? They need to update it next year. The ES 350 has a wonderfully large infotainment screen.
I rly rly wish Lexus cars had more power. If Lexus could make one sports car similar to the rx-7 from the old days or the r-32, they would be so much more popular. It's why the M3 and RS3 are so popular. For $50,000 you could get an Audi with more power, more tech, and more torque.

Same here. My mum test drove an RX350. It was awesome! It’s comfortable, it’s stylish, it has good technology, it has a good infotainment screen (if you get the technology package), and it’s roomy too.

I just drove a 2021 in the first major snow last night. Guess what? turning off the traction control DOES NOT turn off the traction control! MAJOR disappointment. Goes great off the line (in the snow), but man, I'll NEVER own a vehicle that doesn't allow me to completely disable the traction-nanny.

Lexus needs to send their entire interior team to learn from the Mazda MasterClass for a few weeks. Quite frankly, the compact Mazda CX-30 has a nicer-looking dashboard, arguably as good of materials, and a screen that actually fills out the bezel at half the price of this thing.
I have the AWD system in my RX F-Sport, and it’s quite good. The system lags behind because of the non-aggressive OEM tires they fit to these, but I’ve never felt uneasy from its performance.
I’m a Lexus guy, and I can honestly say that this is the dumbest implementation of a 3rd row I’ve ever seen. Who in Lexus thought, yes, this is practical?? They should have just taken the Highlander and souped it up a bit. Job done. The classic RX is fine for what it is, but this is a big fat L.

Come on Lexus stopprice gouging your customers now. You really couldn't make a 10.25" or 12.3" touchscreen standard for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, & Amazon Alexa 🤦🏽♂️🙄? In addition just rid of the touchpad bc it's pointless. Touchscreen systems are much better unless you can just make it a scrolling wheel like the earlier versions of the Lexus infotainment system before the touchpad & how the iDrive controller is, as well the previous MMI & COMAND scroll wheel was. Or fix the touchpad method & make it work better for CarPlay, Android Auto, & your own infotainment system interface the way Acura implemented the true touch 1-to-1 positioning

That dashboard is hideous! It's ridiculously long, and the overall look is not cohesive and dated. It honestly looks like a design from the late 90s and early 2000s minus the screen. Between that and the stupid side rear window. Alone would keep me away from this. Normally I like Lexus however, this needs an emergency refresh or a new design.

If you buy a 2016 with less than 50k miles, you're basically getting the same car in similar condition. These things take awhile to break-in and age.
