OVC is building a brand new 1965 Shelby GT350R Mustang

- When you have the original Shelby crew wrenching on actual 1965 Ford Mustang coupes, you're going to wind up with something great. The team is now called OVC, or Original Venice Crew, and they're finding actual '65 K-Code Mustangs to transform into Shelby GT350R race ready pony cars.
Under the hood is a reworked 289 cubic-inch V-8 engine, and now it's cranking out 450 horsepower. That power still flows through a four-speed manual gearbox and on out to the rear wheels, but here we find an upgraded trick. You can stick with the classic solid axle, or OVC will provide you with an independent rear suspension setup... which is what they would've done back in the day had Ford let its prototype IRS live on.
OVC will build just 36 examples (just like Shelby did back in 1965). Each one starts at $250,000. That's a ton of cash, but quite a bit less than an original '65 Shelby GT350R will set you back as those are inching closer to seven figures.
You could roll up to your local high falutin' valet stand in any exotic... or you can be a hero, and roll up in a car packing heritage, history, and one hell of a sound.

Watching this, I had the probably the most expensive idea I've had in years. I kept thinking, an early mustang with a voodoo V8 would probably be pretty unique at a cars a coffee.
I know where I can pick up a '64 that was restored about 10 years ago at a very reasonable price. Just found the part number... M-6007-A52XS for the fricken $19,995 engine from Ford.
... Well I'd still be way under $250k
Add a 6 speed Tremec, an IRS and modern brakes at the 4 corners (Wilwood, Brembo, etc...) & you'd still be below 6 figures.

you could...build for less..however.. OVC is the OG ( original Gangster) of 60'2 road racing. 250 is steep no question. SBR can build for less.. SBR, Still Building Rockets..my company.

and not the one handling a thin-rimmed steering wheel with no power steering. I'm sure you're a master of the race track.
Just trolling you dude, love your show and your podcast. Seriously though, hands on 9 and 3 and you`ll have an easier time, especially without power steering. It´s a fairly large diameter wheel and you wear gloves, you`ll be fine. And yes, I know a bit what I am talking about :)
I had them at 9 and 3 when I could... just a whole lot of machinery wanting to dance around.
I needed more time out there. It's hard to jump into a $250,000+ car with no driving aids and being told to go have fun... when the owner and company founder is watching, haha.
Driving a strangers car on track is always a bit sketchy. Self restraint is a virtue in your business, especially when you driving such valuable gems. I`d have a hard time doing it and it definitely deserves respect.
I still believe you can do 3 and 9! But it always takes a lot of focus in an unknown car. Just get you ass to the track more often, it should be less then 2h for you to WSIR/SOW.
It's about 2 - 2:30 depending time of day. I do want more track time, just life and other obligations are getting in the way.
I'm working on it though...
