I know you mean shop space, but there is a second floor above the office with windows that we've never seen. I wonder if its just an attic like above Rudnik's shop.
I really, really, really wanna send the GT-R over to get a full body/susp restore and a bunch more strengthening upgrades. Just need some time to replenish the GT-R life funds xD
Behind every great UA-camr there is a crew that deserves their flowers shout out to the boys that keep things moving 🏎💨💨for the boss💪🏼🎥🗣Lets Fucking Gooo🏁
Grant's getting a Z car, everyone's getting a Z car! I'm sitting at about 120k on my DE, it's gonna need a lot of love real soon. I got that car with 89k a few years back and it's been mostly good to me aside from this past year. While it had a lot of service history I quickly discovered there were a ton of original parts on it, and I've replaced/upgraded a fair few things over the years. 2021 saw a lot of things breaking every 6-8 weeks which was super fun. It's going to get a full engine refresh and I'm gonna take it off the road and rock a turbo Subaru instead. Got an older FXT for dirt cheap off a friend and already have everything for a complete engine refresh/upgrade as well as Cobb stage 3 (in their terms), should be a fun 300ish whp beater when it's done.
To give some more details, 06 G35 sedan. Owned it since late 2016. Put about 30k onto her. Second car is 04 Forester XT, 167k on the clock and dirt cheap. Same friend I bought the Foz from also had an 04 STI that he was willing to cut me a sick deal on, unfortunately I didn't have the space for it at the time. Pretty mint wrb example, relatively low miles at sub 100k and well maintained.
The difference between Tommy and everyone else...? No one except him has ever looked into an engine bay and said "Check out this brand new ground.Look how good that looks"
For the shop you should get a Smudge pot. They burn motor used motor oil. It’s a fire place and they burn clean, and vent it out of the shop. Basically free to run. Look on market place they are everywhere
That's the dumbest timing cover ever, I have a friend that's been a mechanic for 20 years that worked on one VQ and said he'll never touch another because of how long everything takes to do on them the customer never wants to pay the labor rate so instead of quoting people he just says no now... He compared it to working on the 300z but said the NA 300z is a little easier
All the people mentioning cars aren’t getting done forgetting the fact the Tommys standard is higher than how they left the factory. Customers are paying for a service and he’s making sure they get perfection, and I doubt the owners mind the wait when they know what they’re getting.
I wish we had a better scene with these cars here in the uk. Don’t see them much here. Perfect platform for drifting. But drifting is just not as popular as traditional racing or rally here. We also mostly have boosted 2l engines. Our aftermarket parts are also hard to come by. With all our insurance an emissions regulations you can’t even remap an ecu without having to declare it and paying a fortune in insurance. Particularly for young drivers. You guys in America just don’t get how lucky you are. Wish we had your freedom and gas prices! My first car was a 75hp 1.1l Ford Fiesta. I payed £3k for the car and £1700 insurance at 18 years old. The only positive is most of our cars are manual. Not many automatic transmission here. Good luck brother. F yeah!
“Cars aren’t getting worked on” aren’t there like 30 skylines at your shop of course some probably aren’t being worked on yet. Especially with only one mechanic
Maybe I was hit in the head as a child. But I have secretly kinda liked how the z's sound. I know they get a lot of hate for the exhaust note but I don't mind it. Can't wait for drifting content. Keep up the good work boys!
I don’t think people fully understand the struggle to get parts right now. On the outside it might look like nothing gets done on the GTRs, but it’s not your fault because parts just aren’t available and you only have Josh
I still don't see why you keep the twin turbos. Wouldn't a single turbo clean up the bay and make it a shit ton easier to work on? The new Garrett turbos spool insanely fast so I just don't see the benefit of it, unless your doing it just for the nostalgia.
3:21 Honestly that's how I want my oil cooler to be. I don't mind it going all the way to the passenger side, but my original goal was to sneak it between the intercooler and a/c.
Only downside of this channel is the vlog style. Would be better if you had someone recording. I’d like to see someone record Josh working on cars and talk tech like Johan on LZ’s channel
Holy fuck watching that timing job on the Z makes me shudder. I just got the last of my parts for my IS timing job, and it’s like playing with legos compared to that.
The quality of you and your guy’s work is insane. You guys are killing it. Juggling content for a dope as UA-cam channel, a shop, and still having a personal life outside of all this I’m sure is pretty hard. We appreciate the quality of your content and attention to detail you and your shop provide. Thank you. 💪💪
Just a reminder that the 14+ metal gallery gaskets will still go bad after a time they’re better than the paper gaskets in the earlier model engines but you still have to do it and the gallery gasket job with someone that knows VQs will go so easy
they lower both ratios and thicken the splines on the gears to make it stronger so you'll have technically the same ratio it'll just be heavier then stock as well
Water pump is another thing on these vq. Its sealed by two o rings and when the first o ring fail, it leaks coolant through the side of the block and when the second o ring fails it goes straight to your oil pan and can be looked as head gasket problem😂 I am working on doing the same exact job or vq de and it sucked scraping off insane amounts of rtv lol
I know it's not your style but paint matched to body color oil filters would be fire on some of those engine bay's. Already have paint in the gun when you do each bay so you could spray a couple and send them with each customers build.
Any updates on the merch from the civic giveaway? I still haven't gotten a email about delivery or anything... Trying to sport my OEM Plus Shirt to represent 💪💯👍
After seeing 20 of those beasts in the shop, all at once, it was cool to see the progression you go through with each one. I worked on old birds that have been flying since Vietnam, each one was a completely different monster. Great content man, especially your DILLIGAF attitude, that shit has me in stitches.
Grant getting 370z also .. must be nice 😊.. that project you doing to you’res 370z my family shop charge $2700 for it and since you’re there we also tell customers to add oil catch can and replace vavle covers gaskets and water pump kit .
Ay caramba, now that's my number.. One dry summer, as far as I remember.. Burnt-out, but gainin' every edgy penny. Then he hit him straight to the head like Reggie Denny. RIP MF DOOM
Can you do little explanations in the video like what 'S1' & N1 means with the skylines, been watching for years and still dont know and it would be good content
Well done josh I did them gaskests on my z big job to take on especially with 3 timing chains took me a full day of cleaning and replacing parts hope tom gets you some beers in!
Is Grant's dad gonna buy him a z so he can fit in with all the other kids
Of course grant can’t be left out
Grant’s dad has one he can borrow 👍🏻
😂
Grant's dad will be fucking pissed if he does doughnuts in the lawn....
You guys sound like a bunch of jealous girls! 😂
Tommy looking at thousands of dollars in engine upgrades and is like, check out this ground wire! Lol
Haha he is such a nerd 😂
a bad ground wire can become expensive. nothing to be overlooked. I get it though.
🤣 nice ground wire!
Cant make big power without proper grounding..
The Z is in good hands with Josh 🙏
Dude has wild experience and skill but also the chillest personality. Love it.
Best automotive content on UA-cam. Keep it up boys. Much respect for you and your crew. Goals: buy GTR that isn't clapped out and get it Fyeah spec.
Josh is hammering down on the projects at jdmspace garage!!
Love when Tommy decides to refresh his cars. Its always worth it. Also never heard him once call this a "build" or mention anything full custom.
I wanna see more of Ben’s welding.
Bruh I was thinking the same, Seeing that Tig on the pan would of been great too see a clip of a time lapse at least
everyone needs a friend like josh, buys a car and josh is like yeah i have worked on it lmao, and just goes to town
I so enjoyed every second of this one! The combination of technical info and beautiful pieces of work really does it for me.
You can't rush quality. I'd rather have quality over getting something back that's unfinished and not dialed. Just as long as I know what's happening.
On this season of hgeu, all the boys buy Zs. Grant is 100% getting a Z
Tommy's shop needs a second floor lol
It'd be fine if ruddy didn't move in lol
I know you mean shop space, but there is a second floor above the office with windows that we've never seen. I wonder if its just an attic like above Rudnik's shop.
@@brandon8997 ruddys space isnt very large my dude
Papa Tom over here sniffing the air like my dog does
I’m upset Nissan shadow fixed this issue and never addressed the issue with the gallery gaskets.
💥 NEXT VIDEO = Going to pick up LZ's new-to-him R32 GT-R with Grant ❗
I really, really, really wanna send the GT-R over to get a full body/susp restore and a bunch more strengthening upgrades. Just need some time to replenish the GT-R life funds xD
I don’t know what you pay Josh, but it’s never enough. lol
Love seeing the how to build now. As for your chains, try a Pontiac 3.4 that has both a chain and belt for the 5 cams.
You mean 4 cams right?
@@pottersi no 5. It was a pushrod motor converted to a DOHC. Still had the center cam that was blank and then the top 4 cams.
@@lowerd1 Interesting

i got my 03 g35 with 188k and i already put it through 3 drift seasons lol
I’m literally selling my 05 sti to get a z or a s chassis lol. I love subies for quick turbo 4cylinders but I want something new

You covered !!!!!!!! He’s a gem
I need a Josh to work on my stuff. Dude is a rockstar.
For the shop you should get a Smudge pot. They burn motor used motor oil. It’s a fire place and they burn clean, and vent it out of the shop. Basically free to run. Look on market place they are everywhere

Yep, good engines when they are running... might as well make a spare block and do the maintance on it and swap it if the other one needs work.
You should do assembly plates :) "this vehicle was build by JOSH"
All the people mentioning cars aren’t getting done forgetting the fact the Tommys standard is higher than how they left the factory. Customers are paying for a service and he’s making sure they get perfection, and I doubt the owners mind the wait when they know what they’re getting.

Turns a paint booth…to a parts room. NOW THATS SMART
“Cars aren’t getting worked on” aren’t there like 30 skylines at your shop of course some probably aren’t being worked on yet. Especially with only one mechanic
Great content, Tommy! Josh, is the definition of Master Mechanic!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maybe I was hit in the head as a child. But I have secretly kinda liked how the z's sound. I know they get a lot of hate for the exhaust note but I don't mind it. Can't wait for drifting content. Keep up the good work boys!
Josh is so gangster 😳 10x better than Dom , and us Doms dont diss other Doms but damn he makes us look bad
Gonna work my ass off so one day I can have the knowledge josh has or close to it, guy really inspires me
Nah bro these UA-cam mechanics could do a full resto on a rare JDM car that was never sold in the states in 2-3 days easy
can we dedicate a 20min Video of Josh Assembiling a Engine!?
I don’t think people fully understand the struggle to get parts right now. On the outside it might look like nothing gets done on the GTRs, but it’s not your fault because parts just aren’t available and you only have Josh
Hopefully one day I can grab an R32 before they get even more expensive and rare. I'd love an fyeah restoration. So sick
My man Tommy’s nose started going crazy when he smelt that gear oil😂😂😂😂😂😂
I still don't see why you keep the twin turbos. Wouldn't a single turbo clean up the bay and make it a shit ton easier to work on? The new Garrett turbos spool insanely fast so I just don't see the benefit of it, unless your doing it just for the nostalgia.
"Why is this leaking??"
"I don't kn.."
"FIX IT"
I'm getting Gordon Ramsey vibes lol
Pappa Tomm, how are any of us supposed to keep up with this outright big ballin?
Fucking Grant.. "I'd be SHOOK if you couldn't buy just the condenser itself." 😂 😂 😂
3:21 Honestly that's how I want my oil cooler to be. I don't mind it going all the way to the passenger side, but my original goal was to sneak it between the intercooler and a/c.
It seems like it would be much easier to just throw a 2jz in that Z rather than rebuilding it
Daamn u pulling alot of views over these last vids, congrats dude the content has been fire lately so the views are well deserved
Special guest coming + Track car = Dustin Williams
Tommy n Dustin would be good to see work together.
Probably should've used EPS gallery gaskets for the Z tbh
A local shop here has done 200+ of them with oem upgraded gaskets and loctite on the bolts, none of them have failed
Only downside of this channel is the vlog style. Would be better if you had someone recording. I’d like to see someone record Josh working on cars and talk tech like Johan on LZ’s channel
It's junk dood, unlike that mint one in the attached shop.😉
“NiSmO cAtCh CaN” only you would be so excited about that dang catch can you showed us three weeks ago 😂
Dustin Williams is about to get that FYeah spec treatment
Holy fuck watching that timing job on the Z makes me shudder. I just got the last of my parts for my IS timing job, and it’s like playing with legos compared to that.
To think Tom paid 10.5k for this 370 sucks lmfao
Grind the welds and use Stainless steel shot blast it will hide the welds on that oil pan
The quality of you and your guy’s work is insane. You guys are killing it. Josh is the GOAT. I would 100% trust him to work on my cars. Tommy, try Nivea Smoothness, it is unlike any other.
Seeing y'all do gallery gaskets on the Z brings back Nam style flashbacks of doing this exact same job in my friends garage in the Texas summer.
Don’t lie Tommy we all know your only friends are will and grace next door haha
You DO NOT impact the galley gaskets covers. YOU DO NOT IMPACT THEM.
they lower both ratios and thicken the splines on the gears to make it stronger so you'll have technically the same ratio it'll just be heavier then stock as well
you should rb swap the 350z
Unstoppable team with Josh and Ben. Cleanest work around

Im waiting to hear your opinion on 350z, 370z and the infiniti versions. Do you see them going to be legends like the skylines?
Any updates on the merch from the civic giveaway? I still haven't gotten a email about delivery or anything... Trying to sport my OEM Plus Shirt to represent 💪💯👍
And Josh is the GOAT mechanic. Only thing left is to get a Dyno and a tuner then everything is complete???
How did josh become such a wizard with cars?!? Dude is on a different level
He was born in garage on stormy night thunder hit he shot out his mom and start to restore 280z
SHOULD HAVE VR30 SWAPED IT!!!!! Made it oem+
I want to see meat possum! Hope he's doing well!
Where's my homie Ty?
I'd like to see some of Josh's personal projects/vehicles
Thanks for something to watch during my lunch break papa Tom
Lunch squad checking in 🥪
its safe to say tommy is more mecanicly advance than rudnick

Tommy has a team of goats. Love it.
did people get their t shirts from the civic yet?! i didnt get mine yet
The zink coated shit is dope af

The shine off Tommy’s head is better than most the of rudnicks cars
Tommy show us how to clean the transparent OEM reservoirs please! Clean reservoirs, and fluid looks good! You know whats up!
*I noticed a lot of aftermarket gaskets are metal with a paper, and rubber coating/topping like a three layer cake*
So basically no cars are finished just like they said on Facebook?
I'd effin love to work @ Tommy's shop so many different projects to get experience with!
Lee’s car is so nice and Bowman’s is just nuts. Id keep the blue couplers tbh in that bay. I honestly cant wait to see you’re gtr get the treatment
You guys should do a shop livery on the 370s to promote the Fyeah shop.
Greddy / Trust extended sump on the oil pan. Edit: Didn't realize you would show it in the same vid lol.
Tommy hangs out with a bunch of ricers in Florida and suddenly thinks blue couplers look good.
Ay caramba, now that's my number..
One dry summer, as far as I remember.. Burnt-out, but gainin' every edgy penny. Then he hit him straight to the head like Reggie Denny.
RIP MF DOOM
the only place in USA that restores GT-R Great business man I'm proud of you daddy tom
Can you do little explanations in the video like what 'S1' & N1 means with the skylines, been watching for years and still dont know and it would be good content
“I bought 8 wheels I don’t sleep”
day #09 of asking papa Tommy to finish the sunny for chicken Little!!!
Well done josh I did them gaskests on my z big job to take on especially with 3 timing chains took me a full day of cleaning and replacing parts hope tom gets you some beers in!
It still looks better than Damien doing engine work.
A d.a sander will hide welds better than any sand blast could. It also leaves a similar finish to the sand blast but takes off more material.
I wanna say there going to buy another 370 but for grant
I think Grant already saying this.
Fyeah!!!!
Joe TIBURON lives!!
