- Today we're at Greenville Presbyterian Church in Donalds, S.C. and it's actually in Greenwood Country and not Greenville County. This is a gorgeous church that church members have maintained and modernized. And we're here for the cemetery which has a lot of revolutionary war veterans buried there, including 5 of my ancestors.
I'm German Scottish Irish and was raised Presbyterian so this was barking straight up my tree. A nice history lesson indeed. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I love all of our veterans and our war heroes.
Hi. My name is Pat Reeves Morgan. My mama, Nell Seawright Reeves, wrote The Saga of the Seawrights. I really enjoyed your video! I remember the story of the ones who froze fleeing the English from her book. Very cool! Thank you!
Hi Tom! I was looking on UA-cam to find an old video of Donalds with my grandfather in it but instead found this great video. This is my family church and I have always loved the history about it. Andrew is my 5th great grandfather and James is my 4th great grandfather. James is the one I joined the DAR under and the rest of my Seawright family is out there as will. We have a Seawright reunion every year in the summer at the church if you two would like to join I can get you more info on it. We also have a Seawright book that has a lot of information in it and there is also a good book that was written about the church with some of the history and stories in it.
Very interesting.
Tom, very interesting video. I’d like to meet you sometime. Would you be willing to meet at Greenville Presbyterian Church someday?
So the Belfast area was actually called London borough at the time
Video on the Battle of Long cane?
Tom, you should come down and look through the cemeteries in Edgefield, where I am from. 3 really old and still "active" ones (if you will).
Thanks for posting this. James Wardlaw mentioned that his uncle and local revolutionary war leader, Samuel Moore, was buried in this cemetery beside his mother, Margaret Moore Wardlaw in an unmarked grave. I descend from Samuel's brother, Eliab B. Moore, who took over leadership of the regiment after Samuel was killed by Bill Cunningham in 1782. It's very interesting to me to see this place and hear the history.
We are frustrated with Colorado. They’re trying to ruin it. It sure looks pretty there.
Love love what you both are doing.
Tom you and I are cousins.
Andrew Seawright is my 7th Great Grandfather and his brother Samuel Wilson Seawright is my 6th Great Grandfather. Also Lieut France Johnson, son-in-law to Andrew is buried here.
His wife Margaret Seawright Johnson Miller is my 6th Great Grandmother. I understand she has a marker here.
My husband Tommy and I will be visiting the Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery this Saturday 24th. I am so excited. We live in Texas where the Seawrights and Stevenson’s settled.
I would love to meet with you if possible. I agree that I am here because of God and each and everyone of my grandparents good or bad.
I have a long list of Cemeteries we will be visiting on our trip this weekend. Starting in Hartwell, Ga. then onto South and North Carolina and finishing up in Booneville, Tenn on owe way home. Would love for you and Regina visit some of these cemeteries.
Keep up y’all’s wonderful adventures. Wish I could join y’all in your treasure hunt.
We can probably meet you at Greenville Presbyterian around 2pm on Saturday if that is possible. Please send us a list of the cemeteries you would like for us to go to!
