Hey Harrison, first love the channel, its been supper helpful with the sewing machine. I've watch all your videos on trouble shooting but haven't found info on my problem. i may have missed it so i apologies if you covered this already. My machine gets jammed every time i try to sew. The thread coming from the needle gets hooked by the shuttle, but before it gets drawn back up and out it catches on the small, tension spring on the back side of the shuttle, where the bobbin thread comes out. Would you happen to have any suggestions ?

If you going to sew with artificial sinew I would only use one of the two tension disks on top. That way it doesn't gum things up too much. Also use the set of hole furthest away from the shuttle spring on the bobbin shuttle.
I have noticed on some videos, that the foot leaves tracks on the leather. Is there any way to keep that from occurring? Thinking about purchasing one of these machines. BUT, I don't want to leave railroad tracks on my work. Getting tired of doing so much hand stitching...
I don't sell these machines personally, but there are many online places that do. I bought my machine from Bantam Saddle Tack they are located here in the USA and they have awesome customer service!! Prices range all over the place, just depends on what you are looking for.
My shuttle picks up the top thread and makes about one stitch but the thread doesn't come off the shuttle. When the shuttle returns to pick up another stitch the first stitch is still there and ends up under the bobbin; then the thread breaks.
I would like to do western boot repair and am wondering if you can sew the sole. I have seen a lot of sewing of leather pieces but not along the edge of a boot.
I would not recommend this machine for western boot repair because the presser foot is too wide. I experimented with this machine to see if it would work, but you need a wide lip around the boot in order to sew around the sole. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a spare, or make, a pressure foot with the outside removed making it narrower and if so would it have enough contact with the boot to advance between stitches. How much down pressure does it have and is the down pressure adjustable? I see some videos filing down the grips on the pressure foot because they mark the leather.
I think you're on to something... Yes, it is possible to get a spare presser foot and to adjust the pressure on the presser foot. These machines have two adjust nuts one for the stitch length and one for the presser foot. I agree with filing the teeth down a bit because they come pretty rough, but a lot of people go overboard with it!! A lot of the marking issues can be fixed by adjusting the pressure of the presser foot.
I am not sure I am skilled enough to make a pair of boots like Red Wing, I am just getting started with my cobbler hobby. I would like to learn how to make boots, but for now I am still a grasshopper. LOL Thank you for your comment!!

Please help. I can't get my presser foot to walk. Watched your video on taking the machine apart. I have done this twice still can not get the foot to walk. Please help. I'm about ready to chunk my machine in the trash. I think I wasted my money.
More than likely it's the stitch adjustment screw. If you adjust it too far out or too close in, it will stop the presser foot from moving. I do offer one on one video help if your interested.

How did you clean up your machine i just purchased one and it is covered in oil and grease
Brake or carb cleaner works best.

Michael Fields Yes, you can file the teeth smooth and that is eliminate that problem, but you would have to manually advance the material through.
I can't wait to oder mine next month so I can fix any sneakers and maybe make some extra money patching Holes in clothing

Have you tried polishing up the bobbin shuttle? I had some issues with my shuttle so I did a bit of polishing with my Dremel.

What size thread and needle do use for sewing two 8-9 once leather together. They are veg tan material. Making holsters, etc.

A buddy of mine is working on designing a presser foot that will allow these machine to sew around the sole. I will keep you posted.
