  • The merino race is associated with transhumance and merino wool, the best in its class.
However, between the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga an old breed of sheep is preserved, which we know as "Merino de Grazalema", which differs from the original merino due to its wide variety of colorations and due to its milk capacity. It is a non-transhumant sheep and it has interfine class wool.
The Sierra de Grazalema, one of the points in Spain where it rains most is responsible for the existence of this kind of cattle so primitive and hard.
We will add that perhaps the cradle of the merino race is found in this other ancient breed, more primitive and rustic. Another aspect that we find interesting to highlight is its resemblance of layers with the "Lojeña sheep" and with the "Corsican sheep".
