My experiences in The Villages have proven to me that this is the friendliest hometown. When I broke my hip 2 years ago, the amount of support I received from my neighbors was outstanding. I was a resident of a rehab facility here in The Villages called "The Club" for a whole month and lots of my neighbors came and visited, bringing me flowers and gifts. When I came home, neighbors came by to help me clean my home, clean out my refrigerator, grocery shopped for me, changed sheets on my bed and even made food for me because I was on a walker and couldn't walk on my own or drive yet. I'm so grateful for their kindness and support! Can't live in a better place in my opinion. 😍 "Only if they're very good looking"! LOL The look on Jerry's face.......priceless!
I’m an introvert, so I like to socialize when I’m in the mood. The lady who paints (she’s 76) but wants some limited socializing, find a friend to have dinner with, go to movies with, occasionally shop with, etc. I belong to a social group that I go out with occasionally, when I’m in the mood. That way, you have your alone time and time with friends.
I'm glad that you enjoy your friendship with us as much as we enjoy yours! Looks like Gizmo is capturing your attention and getting you trained for his treats. Smart little doggie! Love Mondays and Thursdays!
Love your Monday Mailbag where you answer viewer's funny and serious questions. It's always makes me laugh when Gizmo groans everytime you mention a treat. And of course his silly jokes always "quack" me up...
So we live in south Florida and switched from a tile roof to a metal roof mill finish (metal finish) and love it. The mill finish actually reflects to heat from the sun making the attic space cooler (then again how cool is any attic gonna be in summer time no matter where you live). The metal roofs withstand high winds and rain much better and insurance companies even give you a discounted rate for having them.

Where I live I like to think people care about each other. I see videos of things that happen in LA or NY where bystanders just walk past someone in need of help. That would never happen where I live. It upsets me when I see that, but I still believe most people help each other.
So reference the cart tires. The rule of thumb for all tires (cars, motorcycle, trailers, campers etc) is a 5-6 year life span, shorter if your vehicle is exposed to alot if sunlight and not garaged and/or treated with tire protectant. The sun and weather is your worst enemy. What you really need to watch for is cracks on the tires sidewalls. When you see them its time to replace. Also most tires come with date codes as a guide (week and year manufactured) like 47/20. 47th week of 2020. Hope this helps
Hello from the son of a Ball State Alumni… my dad graduated BSU in 1960 and was a career teacher in Chicago teaching social studies. As a kid I used to help him grade his class papers, something about the sense of power from wielding that red marker!
Thank you for the reminder of the Russel Stovers. I had seen your show when you had visited that decadent establishment. When our daughters (and we) visited our house in May we went to Russel Stovers after an airboat ride. IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Giant ice cream waffle cone - FILLED WITH DELICIOUS ICE CREAM! Also the price was VERY VERY REASONABLE. Don't forget Kilwin's ice cream and chocoates in Spanish Springs. The next time we visit maybe we can get a scoop or two with you! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thats was fun! Loved the story at the beginning og the man who fell and so many people were there for him! That was so heartwarming!❤❤❤ Great answers to great questions too! Tell our best friend "Gizmo", we are sending hugs and love love love his riddles❤❤❤👏👏👏👏 You guys and doggy are the best! "HAPPY LABOR DAY VILLAGERS!!!"
I have seen a golf cart coming out of a trailer park on Morse Blvd. heading to the multimodal path. We live in Hawkins which is very active. I agree that all of the southern villages are very active (as active as you want to be!). I have never been anywhere else that is as friendly as it is in The Villages! Neighbors, people on the multimodal path, and everywhere in between! A Lifestyle visit is the best way to experience it here. Gizmo is so darn cute! I love how he lets you know it’s time for another treat! Pirate Gizmo! Hilarious! Thanks, Jerry & Linda!
Maybe the person asking about outsiders getting passes, was referring to people that go to the squares to listen to music, eat in the restaurants, and shop in the stores. The squares are open to the public, although, I know some Villagers feel that they should not be.
Thanks for the answer about metal roofs. Was looking to replace in a couple years. Have seen couple metal roofs on homes, there are not many. Also my understanding it lowers heat in attic like having radiant attic barrier? When looking online did find shingle like metal.
I sometimes forget that it is Monday & then I get on my computer & see you two! Happy Day! Love your videos so please keep filming! Gismo is the best! Hugs from N.J.❤️🙏🇺🇸🦴
Agree about cigarettes butts, I hate seeing them and think people are ignorant when just throwing them on the ground. We actually have no friend who smoke as I find it disgusting 🤢
The other day I pulled up to a red light and the guy in the SUV on my right threw his cigarette out his window and almost hit my car. I honked my horn and I hope that scared him.... 😆
i used to smoke, but was very conscious of where i put my butts out. I used to bring a container to the beach to put my butts in. Nothing worse than using the beach as an ashtray!
I'm used to electric golf carts because that's the kind they have at Disney's Ft Wilderness Resort and Campground. You just plug them into your cabin or campsite when you return and they're always ready. However, I really want a retro cart that has the design of a 1950s era Belaire. I don't know if those only come in one fuel type.
There is a shortage of shipping containers too. I was able to get furniture I ordered this week delivered in The Villages within a week of purchase. I'm not sure what the key to that is. I may have bought items that are not generally in demand. But I bought a couch, a recliner, a chair, and 6 bar stools. The same was true about our golf cart. Go figure.
Loved the tip on Mystic Ice Cream.. my sister will be spending the winter at Fenny and she has been looking for places for a karaoke... have already sent her the info and I'm sure this will make her day..Thank You again for all GREAT info as always.. enjoy this day we have been blessed with🙏🇺🇸

Lots of shortages. We are building a lake home in WI. Ordered Blue Star appliances in February and they just arrived. Other things we cannot get. And as you know, the price of wood has doubled. At this rate we may not be able to afford a second home in TV!
Y'all are awesome,,,look forward to every video..could you answer this question. On the next mail bag maybe...does the villages allow lifted golf carts, I've never seen one in the videos..have a great week💖
Good to know they allow metal roofs. 30yr roofs do not last 30 years down here. The sun, heat and storms put a lot of wear and tear on the roof. I have lived in Florida for almost 30 years and have replaced my roof for three times. One was from hurricane damage. Another roof replacement was from hail damage from severe thunderstorms.. Luckily my insurance covered two of my roof replacements. The Villages are inland so the roofs may last a little longer than the homes hear the coast. Metal and Clay tile roofs do better and last much much longer.
Gracias for answering my sweeeeet question! Added all suggestions to my TV notes. Rest assured I won't be doing karaoke -- Gizmo and EVERY other dog in TV would howl in pain! 😉
We’ve been waiting since February for a couch and 2 chairs. Maybe they will arrive in Nov. 92 degrees and 80% humidity is hot in IA, ILL, NJ, TX, ND, and FL!

At the golf cart path going into SSprings people are always faking they lost their cards. I asked gate people and he said nothing they can do. Also, they cross 441 by Morse and off they go.
The latest beef is concerning Lakeside Landing residents. They are off Rainey Trail/ CR 472 just West of TV. They have street legal carts which grants them access to the streets in TV. Some of these residents are claiming that the VCDD has told them they can access the Multi Modal Paths with their carts. The fact is that the MMP's are paid for and maintained by the residents of The Villages in their yearly maintenance assessment and are not public like the streets. This should preclude nonresidents from using the MMP's and produced the subsequent complaints. As to the gate passes, there is a golf cart only gate in the Historic Section that allows residents to access shopping areas on 441. A gate card is the only way to get in and out, hence the need for counterfeit gate passes by outsiders.
So as a future retirement person I’ve noticed through looking for homes that there are several for rent. Is the rented houses also age restricted and are the renters an issue at times. I don’t think I want to purchase a house next to a rental.
Metal roofs are nice and last way longer than shingles. Linda....as far as heat is concerned...it would depend on the color just like a shingle roof. And from looks of it......if the villages themselves are using standing seam roofs on their buildings.......they have set the precedent for OK'ing standing seam roofs if you want them. Not really... i asked and it takes a long time to charge them.
