Ubisoft: lets make a pirate game, ohh but lets leave out ship boarding and melee combat because thats irrelevant and pirates dont do that lmao. This is gonna be another massive let down.
And let’s include timber-felling, because pirates absolutely did backbreaking labor instead of just stealing resources and sailing vessels from those who already did the hard work. Pirates also used flame throwers aboard their very flammable ships, and frequently had to endure the struggles of sail stamina when trying to either close the distance or flee other vessels.
Also pirate ships have Michael Bay explosions when they are destroyed.
Feel like if not many people buy skull and bones that Ubisoft will say oh well they don’t like pirate games

I just don't get it. They had such a great foundation in Black Flag to build on, and instead they decided to remove everything fun but the naval combat and then spend the next 10 years giving it a slight graphical upgrade. After playing the beta, it's a definite no from me.

@@ni9274the only "problem" with Black flag is the limitations of that time, the art direction for example is way better in ACBF, S&B don't have heart put in it.
@@ni9274 Black flag in many ways looks way better, but that's kind of besides the point. It's insane that skull and bones can be compared to a game that came out 10 years ago on ps3 and xbox 360. Compare skull and bones graphics to anything of the last 3 years and it loses badly. It looks worst than Assassin’s Creed Mirage, also a ubisoft game, Ghost of Tsushima whipes the floor with skull and bones, and that games is from 2020. And all of this isn't even considering the terrible gameplay, no hand to hand combat in skull and bones, pretty much no pvp, no real story and a load of bs wokeness. Why is the ship filled with 70% women? Back in the day, a woman on your ship was bad luck, they'd be killed along with the person that put her on the ship. It makes to sense at all. Pirates were fearsome, brutal, and 99.9% men. The ship now looks like the start to a bad lesbian porno.
I played Skull and Bones on closed beta and it was shocking .The crafting is a joke and there is no boarding just a cinematic

The first comparison alone is enough to tell the games apart. The fact you can just walk on an island as well as swim seeing a ship in the distant which was probably his ship. Showing the amount of exploration in a game 10+ years ago which for some reason can't be duplicated now is strange. It's like nasa trying to go back to the moon but can't for some reason.

Where did you get that this can’t be duplicated ? There are plenty of games where you can swim to your ship just not skull and bones.
NASA never said they aren’t able to go back to the moon, they said it would be harder now cause they have less ressources and didn’t keep the technology.
There is a moon landing planned in 2026, I hope this will definitely make people like you shut up but I’m sure you will find reason to not believe it.
The weight of the ship in skull and bone is none existence. Ships feels like a tiny raft. While in black flag you feel the weight the wave and the vibe. Gonna play black flag again.

It's funny, they just talked about their work on the water dynamics in skull and bones in the Ubisoft Forward stream talking about how they tried to make it realistic, watched some side by side clips of skull and bones compared to ac4 and I was like "yeaaahhhh... riiight..."
I can't fathom how they so disastrously missed the mark here.

The Skull and Bones outfit has him looking like a demented legal secretary.
The splashes from cannon fire in SaB looks like someone just greenscreened a hand slamming on a tub of water, while AC4 has it look like large bodies of water flying into the air in little drops of water like it should look.
That’s copium, the one in AC4 is literally just a cheap white effect you don’t see the « particle of water »
@@ni9274 There's not much videos you can find for cannons firing into water for reference, but look up water explosions, and you'll see they look more like the AC4 blasts than in SaB.
Large amounts of water flying into the area wouldn't hold together like a smaller splash.
I wasn't expecting to like something from Skull and Bones, but I must say the out of map mechanic is cool, that's something...

Black Flag and Rogue are still both some of the best Assassin's Creed games and apparently also still some of the best Ubisoft games

I think i go back to play AC black flag.
I don't know of any game that can do pirates better than AC4. I didn't want to see the latest game inferior to a 10 year old game.

Black Flag is witohut doubt my favourite assassin game, but i also loved how Odyssey was even more open world and less restricting. A pirate game with Odyssey's open world and black flag's sea adventuring was the least i would expect. Instead the game has Black Flag's open world and Odyssey's Sea adventuring.
So I guess the running consensus is that AC4 Black Flag is, and will forever remain the best pirate game until ubisoft gets it together?
tbh everything looks way better in ac4 but this sequence after leaving the map looks dope in skull and bones but thats all. Sad that they cant even program e better game today than back 10 years ago
Oh man the music took me back to playing ac black flag for hours I just like this ac a lot cause of pirates and I was willing to check skull and bones when it got announced but I won’t cause it’s just a live service cash grab
Assassins Creed: not a pirate game series but managed to have the best pirate game of all time
Skull and bones also need hand to hand combat and freedom to free roaming to everywhere.
Ubisoft literally could've just given us the same player mechanics that we had in ac4 and it would be fine, maybe a little less parkour and no assiassin sense but aside from that, much could've been the same, heck Rdward wasn't even a creed member, he was just a pirate, but he could still do all the parkour, as well as soldiers chasing you and curriers running away, combat wouked nicely too

in BF4 you had whole island made to be looked and explore, but in SB you cant even leave your ship and explore random islands only ones that game let you
Why did you not use the ramming skill in BF but did in S&B? Crow's nest is a nice addition, though it is redundant since you have the spyglass. Harbor exploration is an unfair comparison considering that BF has an expanded land exploration.

imagine a great pirate.. who cant swim.. :D :D :D all they had to do is copy past black flag with upgraded graphics and upgrade the crafting system make it more complex start with small ship and then end up with black pearl or an armada be able to handpick your crew.. :D be able to search islands fro treasure.. :D thats it.. :D that's all they had to do. :D and now we have apirate who cant swim or board an enemy ship.. :D :D :D D in 2023.. :D
Are skull and bones that was plan of remake Blackflag from Shanghai Studio ?
Skull & Bones started its development originally as a DLC for Black Flag. Fans kept saying they wanted a Stand Alone BF, but all pirates, no Assassins. So that is what Skull & Bones was supposed to be. But, they kept losing/replacing senior members of the staff and the development of S& B ended up walking the plank and diving into development hell.

Although the ship battles weren't bad in Black flag I always preferred boarding and battling it out, it was always so claustrophobic as there were so many people but fun aswell. This is a massive letdown considering Ubisoft done really well with Black flag, it's sheer laziness. Where is the passion in these companies jheeze hire someone that actually has a passion for making games.

2:33 some of the worst crewmates ever! I was obviously sailing to the 13 Colonies to assist George Washington.
Skull and Bones is as messy as it is because it was passed around to different project leads multiple times and each one of them had a different idea of what the game should look like. Which is why Skull and Bones has "classes" for their ships. It was at one point going to be a PvP hero shooter with ships.
Make no mistake, Ubisoft had no fucking idea what they were doing with this game and after floundering with it for almost 7 years called it "the first AAAA game" with a $70 price tag. It's probably worth $30 or $40. Not $70.
Been playing the close beta on ps5 and gotta say its ok for what it is but i think ima hold off until the rumoured as4 remake if there is one i cant believe you'd make a pirate game with no gun and sword combat dah fuck?
I was obsessed with this game, I wanted to pre-order and anything else because I was a big fan of black flag and I still am but I am happy that this open beta was a thing, I played for two hours and I am already bored, and let s not forget about the money they want us to pay for it. It s a complete shame because if they would have put some sword mechanics even a board one I think that I would love the game, but it s a complete shame.
