  • Diamond Head Trail is a popular hiking route located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It ascends Diamond Head, a volcanic tuff cone that is part of the Honolulu Volcanic Series, formed approximately 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption. The trail offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the city of Honolulu, attracting numerous hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The summit of Diamond Head offers spectacular vistas of Waikiki Beach, the turquoise waters of the Pacific, and the urban landscape of Honolulu. The Trail has historical importance as well, as during the early 20th century, the United States military used the crater as a strategic lookout point. Remnants of this military history, including bunkers and an observation deck, can still be seen along the trail.
The hike itself is about 2.5 km round trip, with an elevation gain of 170 meters. Although relatively short, the trail is steep and includes sections of switchbacks, stairs, and a tunnel, making it moderately challenging.
