Nice video to Hannibal & Face. I agree Face looked up to Hannibal quit offten as a father figure and Hannibal quit Offtenly acted like a father to Face . Hannibal cares about B.A. & Murdock no doubt but i'v seen several episodes where Hannibal seemed to be really protective over Face mostly on the episodes where Face was in trouble or in danger i'v seen a few episodes where Face was kidnapped by some ruthless groups of bad guys and Hannibal was always ready to do some damage to the baddies and save Face. So yep Hannibal does act like a father figure to Face.
There are A-Team reruns every weekday right now, and with Covid lockdowns I have them on, but I never gave it much thought. Until one night, my subconscious informed me in a dream that there were slashy moments with these two. Lol barracuda smile! Yeah, sometimes it takes a while to see... I never had anything like that dream happen before in all my history as a (very early) slash fiction fan. People who write of the "father and son relationship" with the arguing and protecting etc. are not wrong, it's just that...who cares about dads and their adult sons getting an ongoing depiction of adventures where the dad is, however, constantly impairing the son's each and every heterosexual move? That's where the father analogy ends, while remaining an important analogy. The script works on the principle Take One for the Team, rather, much like the starship dynamic (get to have fun on planets but the longterm stuff is on the bridge). The psychological equivalent of the father is the individuation figure - hence the arguing (revealing self, testing) while at the same time the entirely positive role this relationship maintains in the overall plot. With the show being branded as "family friendly" the younger kids would (supposedly) view it as a positive parent-child relationship of the kind that America wanted to see in the '80s. But having grown up, it really is not the point anymore what your relationship with your parents was, even if you feel that something was missing, and that you could replace it with a tv fantasy. The true answer is in that individuation figure, that's who's truly needed and missed - and who should be found on adventures with you.
