I have been so scared to learn any new application as it takes a hell lot of time but then I stumbled upon this playlist and man! today, after watching this video, I have finally made something in figma! Thanks a lot for this playlist.
I'm self-learning UX/UI Design and i'm really glad i've found these videos. Thank you so much!
does it help?
sudah sampai mana belajar nya?
Perfectly paced tutorial! Not only that, this tutorial taught me all the important features I need to know as a beginner! I'm actually a web developer who started learning web designing for my personal projects. I was afraid of using design tools. Now this tutorial helped me to enjoy designing with Figma!
Finally clear and up-to-date answers to a lot of questions.
Thank you for saving me a lot of time by teaching the basics in an easy way !
You're welcome, Asmaa! Glad to hear that the video helped you!
This tutorial gives a wholesome & pragmatic foundation.
I could learn and try to apply it directly.
Even tho I need to pause frequently & switch back and forth between the UA-cam screen & my own Figma screen to test it out, I feel quite satisfied to follow and learn from it.
Thanks for creating and sharing this tutorial! :>
Buy yourself a second monitor. It makes all the difference!
Love it so much I just finished the wireframe video now I'm taking some rest and back to this section soon :).
This is a super helpful video covering all the important aspects of Figma ❤️
Figma Is the best interface design because it is simple as compared to other designs interface Again thanks Figma.
This is another fantastic guidance! I had loved it!
20:29 Now that checkbox has been removed. To do the same thing now, you go to the Prototype bar and there will be a position dropdown menu, select Fixed to make it so those layers don't scroll.
YOU ARE MY HERO. They need to update these things.
Thank yooou
@@wr5023 You're welcome.
@@milkman7674 Glad to hear that.
Thanks!
6:04 renk kontrast kontrolü
I'm taking notes here, thanks to all team for this excellent explanation and video
Tagging along in these videos has helped me tremendously! Thanks.
I always felt scary of figma and never tried to learn it, how naive I was, it is incredible simple. Thanks for this tutorial!
Thank you!! Great content...finally normal human can learn how to design easily
without interrupting the process of learning at some point...
So happy that you found this new series useful, Suela!
if you are trying to get the shadow effect to work 18:57 and you can't because it doesn't look like the video, just know you can either set a bigger frame and use the shadow effect on the circle itself, or just untick the "Clip content" box on the frame.
Hope this helps!
Super helpful! Enjoying this playlist/mini series a lot, thanks
Great video, lots of techniques covered!
What A explanation I fallowing you till now I can design anything on Figma
This IS only possible due to you. Thank You, Sir
You're welcome, Waqar! Figma is trying to make design accessible for everyone, and really happy to hear that this series helped you. Can't wait to see what you design!
I am happy to find your channel. I learn a lot for a beginner. Many thanks
Thank you! Easy for beginners and very informative in the same time!
That's exactly what we set out to accomplish. Thanks for the comment, Mihai!
I found it necessary to Lock the Feed component (by clicking on the padlock icon) before dragging the Floating Action Button component over it or the button would insert itself into the feed, or above it.
Thank you!!! I was looking for THAT exact hint after struggling for like 10 minutes!
hey thanks! I was getting frustrated with it
Thanks
LIFESAVER! Thanks bro
Thank you!!!! I was struggling for 15 mins haha wondering why my buttons wouldn’t sit right
I would like to add my input by saying in vectors nad booleans section
when u go for "advanced stroke" u wont find round shape their rather click on center in the strokes section itself u will find there
and must say figma is doing awesome job..
At 14:52, the setting to change the ends of the lines to Round is no longer in the Advanced Stroke popup; instead, there are left and right line endings dropdowns with the first several being arrow types but then at the bottom is round/square selection.
thanks brother
Thanks mann..
Also, the "fix position when scrolling" option is no longer under Constraints, but is under the Prototype tab for that specific element.
To round only one point
1. Exit vector edit mode
2. Select vector
3. In Stroke section choose Round
The content cover all the basic things and i loved that, I don't have to waste my time on 10 different videos. But i feel there is some parts in the video that are shown with simplicity, I would really appreciate sometimes that the video is not that clean and they go a little out of the way to teach some difficult parts.otherwise I have to perform different methods and time to do the simplest thing.
Great content❤
This is awesome! Thanks for the effort.
I watched this video with difficulty. The robotic voice and background music were a distraction all the way. I appreciate the content, but I think the delivery of that content can be hugely improved.
The background music has to go.
And then when you follow along exactly stuff doesnt work like how do I lock the button and nav bar so it doesnt scroll the option doesnt even come up under constraints
So the UI is working but the UX could be better 😊
Really great and consistent tutorial. Thanks a lot.
You're welcome, Александр! Glad you liked it!
Where can I find the pet images that are inserted, as seen @ 12:24
20:32 the fix position option is now moved to the prototype section. select the navbar then go to prototype. in prototype under Scroller behavior set the position to fix.
Thank you so much have been stuck for 10 minutes here🥲
Thanks for your helpful videos. I found something as a missing part in this video in part "Floating Action Button (FAB)". You didn't say we should lock the main frame before putting this button in the Home frame!
That's what I was looking for. Thank you. :)
Thanks a lot for the comment. i was facing the same issue too. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this! I was lost for hours
so nobody's going to talk about where to get the placeholder images from?
(i literally scrolled through the whole of the comment section)
Amazing tutorial
Stark plugin for checking color contrast......niceee
Where can I get the photos in 3:34? Please answer please
thank you for this tutorial
I have the exact same question but I see no-one ever answered you so I guess I’m going to find my own photos
Amazing tutorial thanks
Great tutorial, BUT doen t apply to latest Figma versions, Auto layout works differently when setting space, so it s a bit frustrating because Figma wont do as in the video.
Hello Béla, sorry for the frustration! Even though the UI is not up-to-date in this tutorial, the underlying principles of auto layout are the same. We announced new updates for auto layout earlier this month, you can check out this tutorial to learn more: ua-cam.com/video/floQKLsWAy4/v-deo.html
I like this!
Thank you figma 🎉
There's a major mistake in the section titled "Plugins, color, and accessibility". High contrast text does NOT create eye strain. Actually, low contrast text is what creates eye strain -- as the reader strains to read text that is too light. And the W3C guideline of 7.1 is the MINIMUM level of contrast to be passable. That means, it is a starting point. The more contrast the better. Black text on a white background -- or vice versa -- is actually the best and comes out at 21:1.
Wowww what I made OMG thank you so much 😳
Can you explain 18:25? How are you able to separate the components like that e.g: icons and wordmark
Content is very helpful. What I found very annoying (as a beginner who are just learning the program) is that since the video was created Figma changed its layout so finding things shown in the video is very difficult to replicate (e.g. instead of "Fill container" - mentioned at 9:46 in the video - now it shows "Hug content / Fixed width"). And this is only one example... :(
only select the text within the frame
For the FAB, how do I figure out what's 32 points from the bottom corner, when the alt key only shows me how far it's from the overall feed that is much longer than the Google Pixel frame?
in the video at 17:09 how are you getting icons in assets? Are these the ones which you have created as components, i did also make as components but there is nothing in my assets. please guide.
Where can I download the placeholder files to follow along? :(
Great tutorial overall and very helpful. Although I do notice the UI is different in the newer version. I also cant get my red circle point position number to show like on 4:10.
Hi Julia, we've launched some new features and updated the UI recently! If you select an object on canvas and hold down Opt on Mac or Alt on Win, you will be able to see the measure distances between the object you selected and the object you hover over. You can learn more about the measure distances from our Help Center: help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039956974-Measure-distances-between-layers#Measure_distances
How to get these Images?
Please help Figma
Very helpful
Thanks for creating this! I have a silly question. How does one download the image files from the design file in one go? The only method I've found is manually clicking on PNG files and downloading one by one.
Hey Felix, if you add at least one export setting to each of the assets you want to export, you can export them all using Command + Shift + E
Is there a newer video? The features of Figma from 2 years ago is different compared to now...I'm finding this video hard to follow.
thank you for your explanation, i have an issue at the part of " FAB " 18:20 , what did you do before drag and place the button, In my case, when i drop it (whatever the button is) it doesn't go on the image but at only between each feed, i mean they already went to go as a component(avatar, authorname, and image) so it blocked !!! ... if i can see your layer information i could... edit them. but ... i don't know. please let me know. ! :)
Hey Figma, I love how you explain everything very easily and to the point. Here I am saving a lot of time. However, I would like to ask a question is that, I am not able to find the "contrast" through plugins. The option is not available. So, does that available in the premium plan of Figma?
Hi Anjali, you'll have to install the plugin first in order to use in a Figma file. You can find the Stark plugin here: www.figma.com/community/plugin/732603254453395948 . Click the "Try it out" button to install the plugin.
I like this training. really hands on. I do have one question: is there somewhere a set of files that match with this training. So the avatars and others?
Hey Maarten, you can get a copy of the file here www.figma.com/community/file/915647337333327091
"fix position when scrolling" has moved to "Prototype" if you are guys are wondering. Do make sure you enable scrolling on that frame :)
Is this tutorial made with the latest version of the program? I can't seem to find resizing or padding when I choose the same objects as done in the tutorial. I'm confused... Besides that; great to have a learning arena in Figma.
It would be so SO much more useful if it was updated to how the tool looks today. It's such a pain not finding the things he shows or even the short cuts not working because they are not the same.
I have brand new up to date videos using the free version of figma that may be what your looking for any support is appreciated, heres a link to the first lesson ua-cam.com/play/PL7Jdp5ioe1GLO9YbSpgi4Le8v9C_9x9Kh.html
Also if anyone feels like the video is too fast, don't forget you can adjust the speed by clicking the settings gear on the video, I found going to custom and changing the playback speed to 0.85 was enough so it wasn't going so fast but not to slow that it warps the audio.
Would you be willing to give my videos feedback? Hope to see you there!
How can I align the rectangle shape perfectly in the frame center (should be equally on every side)
20:32 That checkbox has been removed. To do the same thing, select your FAB button/icon , go got Prototype > Under scroll behaviour > set the position to Fixed.
the keybindings are different. in the video, it says to hide layout grids by pressing (ctrl + G), but in fact, it's (ctrl + shift + 4). atleast that's for me.
That is for MacOS. The Windows users uses other shortcuts.
Well done 👍 , but i have some questions about figma, the first I'm Web developer i want to use figma to create my design for website but when i finished I lost my responsive so why , another question how i can change my figma design to html and css code , please answer me
Hi
Am i allowed to use this videos for my course of design on my website?
For copyright reasons
OK. I had to watch a second time to get some of the nittiy-gritty. But, really helpful video.
I really wish the animated gifs were provided somewhere for download.
Do figma hav a separete playlist for constraints?
It is a very old tutorial.....Many changes has been made since then....very difficult to learn.
Agree... Wish they'd make an updated tutorial
At 14:50, I cannot see a cap option for rounding like you are. I'm currently on an educational plan
Fantastic tutorials! 🌟 However, I've been finding it a bit challenging to hear the speech clearly due to the high volume of the looping music in the background. Any chance the music could be adjusted or toned down in future videos? Would greatly enhance the overall learning experience. Thanks for considering! 🎧🙏
I couldn't find the images folder. Where can I download?
In the auto layout portion, when I did the auto layout: the avatar slid away from the grey ellipse, the avatar and text stuck together and the text indented down in the Petma image. What did I do wrong?
On resizing fill the container option is not available. In my newest software auto layout is not working well.
at 02:27 the shortcut is shift + G not ctrl + G
@3:30 Cannot add assets to frames. I'm using the free version. It works if I have a file, but there appears no other way to add something. I tried the option with fill and you still need a file. The video does not show us where they get the images, or another way to do it. I took snip of the largest asset, and just used that for both images since assets will not work.
How can I send an abject to the from. And present prototype on one screen instead of two?
When I duplicate a section it does not automatically go below the image I have to move it. 12:02 when i press enter nothing happens
The "Fix position when scrolling" checkbox is not showing up under my "Constraints" section when I have the "+" button selected in my frame. Am I doing something wrong? Where did the checkbox go?
Hey can somebody help. I created a post in assets and after when I added couple of post and change the number of text on each the next post doesn't move automatically lower. The text from previous post goes above next one. Where I should look to set the option of autospreading the space between post or smth
Cmd+Shift+K: why am I only learning this now xD
Which font u used for petma logo?
Thanks for great tutorials, cant help with editing description on 12:14, did everything multiple times but text doesn't shift below
Hey Giorgi, make sure that the description text layer is set to Fill container (or fixed width), and not, Hug contents. Also be sure that all of the posts are in a vertical auto layout frame so that they will be pushed down as the text grows. You can also grab a copy of the finished design file in the video description, so you can reverse engineer the components to see how they were built!
@@Figma Thanks for helping me out! finally found my error: a had marked fixed height
@@Figma Description layer set to Fill container , all the posts are in vertical layout ( constraints & resizing - hug contents ) but post didnot shift below after editing the text
@@karanarora1488 In the components page, select the component frame and change the vertical resizing to hug :)
How did they made the logo????? is it anywhere in this video??
@figma - ERROR HIGHLIGHT - At 2:28 the tutor says that to get rid of Grids use Ctrl and G. This is wrong, that is the short-cut for Groups. The correct short-cut is SHIFT and G. I created loads of Groups and got confused... again.
In 3:03, how did you position it 8px above? I've tried selecting both shapes and then modifying vertical space, but that moves the rectangle instead of the circle
with the circle selected, hold down your alt key and keep the cursor hovering over the rectangle, then use the down arrow on the your keyboard
@@pearlite6243 Thank you, you hero! I was really struggling with it.
Where to find images used in Petma
Please help:(( I am not able to install the plugin you showed
my button is not lapping on the page as it supposed to, instead it is joining itself with the feed. pls what should i do
hello sb can help me i cant use to arrow key to get elements close or far from each other
Better than a paid course
please help me when i do auto layout it separetes my avatar from the eclipse and I'm stuck here!
What was the point in adding padding and then recentering it again? Not a lot is explained well or shown comparison examples to be able to understand what is happening. The fill container vs fixed with also wasn't very clear because they looked the same and no example was shown of it changing to see the difference.
I don't understand why so much of the screen is filled with the green background. It's difficult to see the text and little details
when i apply auto layout to the avtar and name layer the layer vanishes away how to solve this?? at 8:12
so much more user-friendly tool than ps and ai
on the 20:26 You say "select both" The nav Bar+The icon, how to do this ? with what keyboard combination? I stuck on this and cant see the Constraints :(
I tried clicking the bar, once I see it's selected, I hit Ctrl/Command on the keyboard, hold, then clicked the icon. Both should now be selected
Anybody else having issues with autolayout and contrains??? need more info about...i´m not really good at. Pausing every time something wasn´t quite right 😅
The navigation bar component scroll behavior position cannot be changed to fixed, what could be the cause?
Fab scroll behaviors Position can be changed from Prototype not in Design (Due to updates) but for the Nav bar Scroll behavior fixed option is not available , You can make that Sticky but not Fixed
Is there an updated tutorial? It appears many Figma UI features changed since this video and today.
IKR? This is obsolete. Watching this in March 2023 and it's confusing, many things have changed. They should delete this series and make an updated one...
can someone explain to me how to get the plugin Stark and color blind simulation? I don't have that as my plugin and I don't know how to get it on Figma. It doesn't show on the Figma Community when I tried to search for it. Thanks!
it's in the community when you search for 'stark', but under Plugins, which is the second tab. install it
Hi, Thank you for these tutorials.
I am working on the Free Version.
There is no google Phone on the options.
What I should do?
Hi, we have a few Google phones preset frames under the "Archive" section. Press F on the keyboard and you can find the section in the right sidebar.
@@Figma So, I think I found the way.
I had to select a phone from the list (Google does not exist), then I could press on the arrow next to the Frame and then all the phones appeared.
try to zoom in little bit for other tutorials
