- This video shows how to find the three principal stress orientations given a conjugate fault set. We plot the faults on the stereonet, and then locate the principal stresses, and back out their trends and plunges. We also cover conceptually what these steps correspond to on a real fault system.
YOYOYO just wanted to say thanks, been hard trying to read how to do these during iso for my exam.... so much easier to follow along and just makes more sense talking through it.... THANKS!
Thank you SO MUCH I can FINALLY visualise this stuff!
Thank you... i had forgotten how to find sigma 1 from sigma 2... now i remember... thanks to you😍
Thank you so much, not many people teach this online
Thanks lot Dr Houghton, very good demonstration for conjugate faults, i have also a "simple" method very usefull To precise more the stress axis using striae data aplied 4 isolated faculté. Rabat Earth Sc. Faculty Univ Med5.
thank you very much :)
How can we calculate their magnitude...
BONI SHEJAR unfortunately, that information doesn’t come from a stereonet. Stress is Force per unit area, so you need to know the tectonic setting and rock properties to calculate stress magnitude.
hi. can you make another video for restoration of sigma 1,2 and 3 pls?
