    And that's our round up of where we got the most bang for our buck! What are your favourite destinations for getting a lot of mileage for your travel spend?

      We are looking at Eastern Europe( 4 the best summer value) starting around June 2022...
      How busy/hectic is it in Albania during height of summer?

    • @OurFreedomYears
      @OurFreedomYears  2 роки тому +1

      @@martywrigh1024 It's hard for us to comment as we were there September to November. However, based on the number of hotels, I imagine that the coast of Albania is extremely busy during peak summer. Still it would be more affordable than other European coastal destinations.

    I knew Istanbul was going to be the choice for food, ha ha! One of my former students runs her own Turkish cafe, and she makes an incredible sucuk pide.

      Sounds amazing! Turkey has such a wonderful street food culture. It's the best we've found outside of Asia.

    I can't wait to begin the slow travel journey! Your videos have been such a vast wealth of information that have eased so many of my previous concerns. I wait anxiously each week to live vicariously through you both while working toward my goal of doing the same. The only problem now is; I can't decide where to start!!

      That's a great problem to have! We also feel overwhelmed by all the great travel options sometimes. Usually time of year and weather helps us narrow down the selection. 😊

    Loved this video! Thanks for sharing all of your insight and suggestions on how to get the most "bang for the buck". I would really enjoy seeing a video of your "most memorable...." Your most memorable, BnB, bottle of wine, coffee/cafe, church, historical sight, flight, ferry, taxi, hike, etc. etc. Pretend you are being interviewed and just say which is the one that comes to each of your mind first! It might be a fun choice for video. Travel well 🙂

    Fab info Gals! I am thinking about adding that airbnb in Albania to my dream list now. lol Would you say costs are similiar for accommodations in Croatia as Serbia? What about Montenegro? Since we have Canadian Tennis player Milos Raonic from there, I am curious. ;)

    • @OurFreedomYears
      @OurFreedomYears  2 роки тому

      Croatia is much more expensive for accommodations as compared to Serbia, especially for prime tourist destinations on the coast (eg Dubrovnik and Split). Montengro should be less expensive than Croatia -- unless you're planning to stay in Kotor during peak season!

  • @travelvideos

    That apartment in Albania is really worth it. Dollars are more than euros, so it is north of 1230 euros. Very reasonable, probably pandemic prices.

    Great video! Thanks for your good energy! How do you manage the pooches for museums and restaurants that do not have outside seating? Do you take turns going in the museums? I’m traveling for the first time with my little poodle and finding this aspect to be challenging…

    • @OurFreedomYears
      @OurFreedomYears  2 роки тому

      For museums, we take turns going in. We often prefer going to different attractions so this system works quite well. For restaurants, we try to spend time in countries that are more relaxed about dogs inside restaurants, like Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey for example. That's one of the reasons we really enjoy traveling in Europe. Hope that helps!

    Another great one. Were you able to get a refund from the awful Airbnb you've cancelled? Any tips on how to do it?

    • @OurFreedomYears
      @OurFreedomYears  2 роки тому +1

      Great question! In order to cancel an Airbnb upon arrival, you need to have a very strong case that it is unsafe or doesn't measure up the photos in a significant way. In our situation, the Airbnb lacked exterior lighting on the dark path approaching the apartment, so we had a claim to it being unsafe. Of course, that was just one of many problems!

    • @irenaspilea4548
      @irenaspilea4548 2 роки тому

      @@OurFreedomYears Is there a time limit on when you need to do the claim? Do you contact the host first or directly to Airbnb? Were you stressed to have to find another place so quickly and at last minute?

    • @OurFreedomYears
      @OurFreedomYears  2 роки тому +1

      @@irenaspilea4548 Yes, you must make a claim within 24 hours of check in. If our concerns are very serious, we would contact Airbnb directly and right away. If less serious, we would start with the host to see if it's something they can resolve. However we would still inform Airbnb in order to create a paper trail, just in case. And yes, it was stressful to find another place right away, especially with two dogs. But we managed! 😊
