Thumbs up to the good memories of your dad. I’m fortunate to be able to hike and camp some with my son and son-law. I see it as a great blessing. I enjoy your videos.😊
This is my home area. Now I know where I can pick up the at nearby. At 65 my legs don't go along as well as they used too and I'm a lot slower and still love being outside! Thank you for sharing the memories of your dad, he's always with you. I really enjoy your videos.
So sorry for your loss, girl. I am so glad you have such fond memories of your Dad. Mine died when I was 12 and he is still the second most influential person in my life. The most important One has promised me that I will see him again one day and what joy that brings! Beautiful tribute, thank you for that. My father in law, who passed a few months ago, owned an AC tractor for many years. Good machine.
What a thoughtful reflection and dedication to your father. Your knowledge of the flowers, vegetation, and critters is amazing. I enjoy your channel as I slog through my attempt to hike PA, one day at a time. Thanks for sharing your hike.
So happy you are back on trail. I am starting my section hike of the AT this year and you are a great resource. I’m also a cyclist and I watched your husband’s bikepacking adventures this winter and his trips have also inspired me. 16.7 miles on your first day back is awesome. Wishing you all the best completing the trail, and much respect to you for your strength, and regards to your father who I am sure is shining down on you with the proud eyes of a great father. He’ll be walking with you for the rest of your journey. Respect and best wishes!
It's not about who gets to the finish line first, it's all about appreciateing what we find along the way. I prefer to take my time, listen, smell and see the beauty all around me. Happy Hiking to you...cheers!
Congratulations on another section. My condolences on the lost of your dad. We are blessed if we have people in our lives whose passing we grieve and legacy we cherish and share. Great hat!
I just found your channel. I enjoy watching people hiking the AT while I'm sitting by my campfire having a cup of coffee. Watching you hike southern Vermont takes me back to when I did that section of the LT. My dream is to thru hike the AT after I retire in a couple of years. Thank you for your inspiration.
Hey, LoamSeeker! Sorry for your loss... This butterfly: Mourning cloak (Nymphalis Antiopa) is the same specie that we have...we call it suruvaippa (in Finnish)...Point 8.41 in your video...This plants geometrical structure looks so beautiful...Maybe here is a golden spiral? (spiral whose growth factor is Phi: 1.618). Thanks for sharing video!
Sorry tremendously to hear of your Dads passing. I know well the feeling. In regard to your video and by the way I just found you-Totally refreshing! What a badly needed breath of fresh air and your narration was second to none. Plant and animal ID was spot on. Thanks for giving me a badly needed lift and restoration!
I watch many hiking videos, and this is the most well done I’ve ever seen. Thank you for labeling the flora and fauna- it makes for an educational as well as entertaining experience. Best wishes to you for a successful hike.
aA the 3 minute mark you talk about a tree that changed it's mind about the direction it was growing. When I was a kid, my grandfather told me that these were actually markers made by Native Americans to lead you towards something..... shelter... water... etc. I am not sure if that is true, but he was a pretty smart old farmer, so I like to think it is.
Flower, I'm so sorry to hear of your dads passing. I always take along a piece of clothing that was my dads whenever I hike, it makes me feel close to him.
My Swedish mother passed away last month too. I wear a Swedish flag patch on my backpack and have a Swedish flag bandanna in her honor. Memories live forever even though people cannot.
Glad to see that you are back on trail again! Sorry to hear about your father. The hat looks great on you! My friends and I have been section day hiking the Appalachian trail this spring. We started in NJ and are in NY now. Just got back from a section today. Enjoy yourself out there! Looking forward to your videos

ima new sub, my condolences for your Father, A/C was one of brands we used to sell while in the equipment business out west. be safe on the trail, keep your eyes peeled 360°, drink enough water.....again please be safe!
I went to a YMCA camp called Camp Becket, in Becket, Massachusetts , which is right close to Pittsfield, Massachusetts . It was 1977 and 78 summers when I was there ( I was 9 and 10!) . I didn't want to go , but it was fun once I got there and I'll never forget it, especially the "Dad's weekend " when Dad's came up the the weekend to stay with us and have fun. It's beautiful up there. I took my daughter and nephew to a concert at Tanglewood a few years ago in the summer (Boston Symphony Orchestra) . its so pretty up there.
First of all I'm sorry about your dad :-(. I'm glad your video was in my feed as I am planning on hiking some or all of MA this year. I am going to check out your channel. Happy trails to you 🥾🤘🏻🏔
Love the hat. It's a great way to honor your father. I've never seen any hiker video so much wildlife. Do you talk the animals too? You certainly do attract them. Looking forward to the completion of your AT quest. CDT next?
Just got off of our Allis Chalmers 185 tractor, mowed down ten acres of hay. It is a great tractor! If you are back in Vermont hiking you can take it out. What job do you have that allows you this kind of time off? Thanks for the videos they are really good.
I enjoy your videos so much. Your nature shots are great and the labels of the plants and animals add to the interest. I sorry about the death of your dad but wearing his cap is a good way to honor him.

Hello Flower, you said you are an Air Force Reservist, are you a pilot? One of my favorite days was a long visit with Chuck Yeager. That was something!
im not a through hiker, or section hiker. but I would love to be if I could find the time. we camped at Baxter state park in maine last July and hiked up the Abol trail to the summit of mt. Katahdin (July 9, 2021). it was really really hard! people were flying by us, my daughters were scared, especially during the 2 hours of boulder climbing. but we made it! was truly awesome. we waved at the "knife edge" then headed back down. it took all day! then we went out to dinner at River Driver's Restaurant in Millinocket, Maine (best lobster bisque ever !), then back to our tents at Penobscot Outdoor Center ! thx !!!
The brand is Go Lite, who have unfortunately gone out of business. I have had these pants for years...I think I purchased them in 2009. They are just a base-layer pant really....nylon, polyester, spandex type. They held up quite well over the many AT miles they accompanied me on. I did fall once on a rock and put a tear in the knee, but I sewed it up and kept on!

That's what someone else mentioned too...definitely could be true! Thanks for sharing :)
Love the healing properties of the great outdoors, keep on the trails! Great video and hike.

A dog would be a great companion hiking.
I wish I could hike with my dogs, but for various reasons, they are unsuitable, haha

Thanks so much!
Admire you for remembering your dad and wearing his hat.
Thanks so much!
Good advice on not getting discouraged when you're overtaken by jackrabbits.
First of all I'm sorry about your dad :-(. I'm glad your video was in my feed as I am planning on hiking some or all of MA this year. I am going to check out your channel. Happy trails to you 🥾🤘🏻🏔
Thank you so much. MA is a great state, and I think you'll enjoy it :)
What a nicely done video.
Thanks so much!
Love the hat. It's a great way to honor your father. I've never seen any hiker video so much wildlife. Do you talk the animals too? You certainly do attract them. Looking forward to the completion of your AT quest. CDT next?
Thank you so much. My very favorite parts of the trail are when I find wildlife! And yes, sometimes I do talk to them :)
Dont feel bad. Slow walks means you're enjoying the trail.
That is true :)
Just got off of our Allis Chalmers 185 tractor, mowed down ten acres of hay. It is a great tractor! If you are back in Vermont hiking you can take it out.
What job do you have that allows you this kind of time off? Thanks for the videos they are really good.

Awesome! Good luck to you!!
Hello Flower, you said you are an Air Force Reservist, are you a pilot? One of my favorite days was a long visit with Chuck Yeager. That was something!
I am not a pilot. That sounds like a great day!
I was curious about her USAF career as well.
If she can’t talk about it I’m fine with that.
im not a through hiker, or section hiker. but I would love to be if I could find the time. we camped at Baxter state park in maine last July and hiked up the Abol trail to the summit of mt. Flower,
Curious the brand and type of material of your black hiking pants. Is it durable eith all those rocks, etc?where did u get them?
Thx
The brand is Go Lite, who have unfortunately gone out of business. I have had these pants for years...I think I purchased them in 2009. They are just a base-layer pant really....nylon, polyester, spandex type. They held up quite well over the many AT miles they accompanied me on. I did fall once on a rock and put a tear in the knee, but I sewed it up and kept on!
Curious how much your pack weighs with all your gear?
I was thinking the same
Typically my pack weighs between 25-35 pounds, depending on how much food and water I have in there.
Well I be darn ur back ,good to see you and no words will fit for ur lose of ur dad ,but sorry I'm one foot ,in grave an other on banana peel ,enjoy ur life dear not chasing money as capitalism wants us ,wish I could go hiking an camping seeing the sights an making memories
That tree might be an indian tree. They would bend them over to mark directions.
I'm curious how old you think that tree is.
@@oldschool8798 I'm not sure. I jusr read an article about Indian Trees.
😎
just mild curiosity, but why don't you ever hike with your husband? is he super annoying? come on, you can tell me, lol. no but seriously, for me, trail time with my SO is very nice. we're able to disconnect from the distractions of modern life.
I have occasionally hiked with him, and I love doing that. His current job doesn't allow him the same time off that I have at the moment
