During this horrible time in our lives I can say one thing for sure. To be alive today and having lived my years on this great earth...I am the Luckiest!!!!!!!
A few winters ago, a little voice told me to go to a local college to hear this group.. it was an awesome night, I will always remember and thank this little voice!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm quite sad I've just discovered this. And Blake Morgan... Is just purely an amazing vocalist. THEY ALL ARE. this is breathtaking to hear. Wish I could sing with them!
Justin, where are you based? If you check out their website they tour some quite intimate venues and run workshops in the afternoons before the concert. Not quite the same as performing with them but for us mortals... I'm hoping their November date in Kent, UK is going to go ahead because I've booked up.
Your performances are so *compelling* for me. Feeling, artistry, brilliance, blending and oh that beautiful bass foundation. Makes me want to find a choir again.
I love you Lisa and forever will this be our song. I know I am THE LUCKIEST for having known you. I will always love you and never understand why after seven years we couldn’t cross the finish line together. We are with other people now but in our heart of hearts know we are soulmates and live with the pain of wondering “what if”. Goodbye my love❤️ THE LUCKIEST
So absolutely stunning. I don't know how many times I listened to this over the last few years. Always so elevating. I wonder what Ben Folds thinks of this arrangement and rendition. I hope he likes it. I find it quite a tribute to his song.
The room they are in plays a big part. All those hard wooden surfaces bounce the sound around. It would not have the same sound if there were people in the pews.
Although I own the CD Lux and listen to it frequently, I still come back to this upload all the time and I wonder how I could LIKE it a million times.... Pure soul food!
Thank you for bringing this measure joy into my life. I'm sure that I've listened a dozen times already. I enjoy it more, the more I listen. This is the most beautiful piece of music I've heard in a very long time.
I don't get many things right the first time, In fact, I am told that a lot Now I know all the wrong turns the stumbles, And falls brought me here And where was I before the day That I first saw your lovely face, Now I see it every day And I know That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest What if I had been born fifty years before you In a house on the street Where you lived Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike. Would I know? And in a wide sea of eyes I see one pair that I recognize And I know That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest I love you more then have Ever found the way to say To you Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties and one day Passed away in his sleep, And his wife, she stayed for a couple of days, and passed away I'm sorry I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong, That I know That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest
I love your harmonies and expressive renditions. Your performances with the ambient settings and wonderful sound never fail to move me. Thank you so much!
Heavenly! No other words can better describe this song or the group. I saw them at Sherborne Abbey and I look forward to seeing them at Milton Abbey this summer.
Similar to Shenandoah, the alternate take of this song vs. album version from "Evensong" is one of the best musical news of 2017! I liked the old one but always considered it too "clinic". This one lives, it touches, it flows... goose bumps, man. Thanks @vocescantabilemusic!
The only current member of the group singing on the Evensong version was Barnie Smith. They've improved their blend out of all recognition since that early 2008 version, and have recorded two more versions since then, with different line-ups: Lux in 2015, which was much better, and this one on VOCES8 in 2019 (and repeated on Concert Select in 2021), with the line-up on this video , and I think it's definitely the best. It's interesting to compare the three though.
I know it's a bit out of season... but I would absolutely love to hear Voces8 to sing 'Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence'. With their voices I know it would be hauntingly beautiful
I can’t wait to sing this, hopefully our extracurricular choir will rock it! I have the solo, which is so beautiful, oh my goodness, and so I’m super excited to perform this. 😍
Amazingly beautiful voices! I dislike the slower tempo, but I can understand doing so to highlight the harmonies. Will definitely look into your other work. Lovely, lovely voices. (And I gave this a thumbs up.)
During this horrible time in our lives I can say one thing for sure. To be alive today and having lived my years on this great earth...I am the Luckiest!!!!!!!
This has aged well.
I am now happy to have lived in the time of VOCES8
As an eighty year old man Ben Folds always speaks to me.....have been a great fan for years attending loads of concerts.
Every time I start to lose faith in humanity I just listen to choir music. Listen to what we can do with just us. We are the luckiest!!
I have never been able to make it through this song without weeping! So beautifully layered and stunning! Stellar performance!!
...same here...
A few winters ago, a little voice told me to go to a local college to hear this group.. it was an awesome night, I will always remember and thank this little voice!!!!!!!!!!!
This is hands down the greatest vocal group in the history of all humanity.
This was my husband and I’s first dance song. This rendition brought big, ugly tears to my eyes. This is breathtakingly stupendous.
The BEST version I've ever heard. Absolutely stunning.
How can they perform like this and not burst into tears? Too beautiful forever
I'm quite sad I've just discovered this. And Blake Morgan... Is just purely an amazing vocalist. THEY ALL ARE. this is breathtaking to hear. Wish I could sing with them!

A stunning arrangement of one of the most beautiful love songs ever composed.
I am the luckiest to hear this group..I am 80 years old and for a momen I thought I was 20 again! Thank you , Blake ( and the rest!)
Beautiful... as always, with VOCES8!
3:23 - that high note is spine chilling
Unless I'm mistaken that's Andrea's signature presence.
Your performances are so *compelling* for me. Feeling, artistry, brilliance, blending and oh that beautiful bass foundation. Makes me want to find a choir again.
The song is beautiful, as usual, but I'd like to say that you all look fantastic in this video. The hair, makeup and the outfits are on point.
I am beyond excited to have this played at my wedding this January!!! A candle light service with the theme of winter wonderland
How did your wedding go? Did everybody love this song?
I love you Lisa and forever will this be our song. I know I am THE LUCKIEST for having known you. I will always love you and never understand why after seven years we couldn’t cross the finish line together. Such pleasant voice this guy has. It reaches the heart.
I'm a grown man. And this band makes me cry.
So absolutely stunning. I don't know how many times I listened to this over the last few years. Always so elevating. I wonder what Ben Folds thinks of this arrangement and rendition. I hope he likes it. I find it quite a tribute to his song.
How can 8 people sound like a whole choir! Wow!
The room they are in plays a big part. All those hard wooden surfaces bounce the sound around. It would not have the same sound if there were people in the pews.
Because they sing in tune
I really love this group A lot 👩🏼🦳💋
Now I am the luckiest. Thank you.
Fantastici grazie
This is such a beautiful arrangement. Blake has an incredible voice! So pure and soothing.
Bring tears to my eyes. Great harmony.
Although I own the CD Lux and listen to it frequently, I still come back to this upload all the time and I wonder how I could LIKE it a million times.... Pure soul food!
if I were to get married one day I would definitely use this song as my theme.
It's perfect for that. We had our first dance to it (well, the original anyway; this one didn't exist at the time).
Awsome! The new guy is excellent. Beautiful sound and blends so well with the group. You all sound like one instrument. Extraordinarily musical!
How is anything this good?
Right... I seriously don't understand why these guys would choose to sing this trash music.... sigh...

I can't say this for many people but now I say 'this is wonderful!'

I'm a bit puzzled at the 79 dislikes...what's there not to like here? The sound is immaculate...stunning! Bravo!

yasminload63 Absolutely, this is what you call real music!
Are you kidding me? this is absolutely beautiful. Please put this on Apple music so I can play on repeat

I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING
Indeed I am. Thoroughly touched.

Just simply brilliant & impeccable...I'm in the realm of levity softly cushioned with fluffy clouds, I can rest peacefully now. 🤲🙏💛

Absolutely fantastic! Amazing song and even more wonderful performance. Just love it!
One of their best!
This is my wedding song. I just wish I had found this version back then.
My sister and her husband danced to the original as their first dance song. This version is just as amazing.
