Hurt Southern Lion Pride Male In Territory Of The Mananga Lion Pride

After the Southern Pride Males took over the 'N'wanetsi Lion Pride along the S100 and kicked out the old Sweni Male and five of his young Sub Adult sons, they started to expand their territory further north east and are now often seen with lionesses of the Mananga Lion Pride along the S41 to the east of Satara Rest camp in Kruger National Park. The Mananga Pride was once controlled by two old Shishangaan males, Xihamham and his brother, who were the fathers of Casper The White Lion and his Shish brothers. Unfortunately, Xihamham was killed around March 2023 by the two Trichardt Male Lions.
GAME DRIVE ETIQUETTE - RULES (SANParks):
- When you come across a sighting, slowly pull over on the side of the road closest to the animal, but keep a safe distance and turn OFF your engine
- If there are animals in the road, immediately stop at least 20 m from them
- The lane furthest from the sighting should NEVER be blocked, so that others can pass if they want to
- Don’t linger longer than a few minutes at a sighting, so that others can view it too
- Never go off the designated roads
- Never climb out of your vehicle during a drive, or hang out of your car windows or sunroof
- Don’t hoot or blare loud music
- Avoid driving into vegetation, as this could damage the environment or kill small animals
- During night drives, never shine a spotlight directly in animals’ eyes
- Never make noise to get animals to move, stand up or otherwise react for pictures
- Respect the rangers, and always comply with their requests or instructions

There was a super short video on twitter of Xihamham’s brother who is still alive but on the video it was clear he was in a recent fight where someone tried to hurt his back. Casper’s fathers were and the remaining one still is one of the most amazingly successful leos I learned about. Salute to these legends!

The Trichardt males were seen mating with a Mananga lioness last week. As the incumbent dominant males,this is sure way for conflict.
