- This went to the number 1 spot for 3 weeks in the Billboard Country chart in 1963, also making the Hot 100 at 74.
It's Marty at his most soulful on this self penned ballad. Another extremely difficult song to sing, but Marty makes it look easy. Ol' Marty loved the falsetto didn't he?!
I’m 73 and I listen to Marty Robbins every night he helps me to stop thinking of the loss of my husband and my son thank you Marty love you ❤❤❤❤
God Bless- I love Marty Robbins- I turned 73 a month ago.
Marty robbins was so underrated. Alot of people didnt realize his great singing voice an style. Miss u marty
my biggest regret in life is that i never saw this man sing live. what a unique and wonderful singer old marty was, god bless him.
He was the best, there is no one like him today and I'm sure there will never be.
I saw Marty at indianapolis in I think 1982 he passes away a little after. He loved the crowd we loved him, the Coliseum people got mad he actually took the cloock off the wall and cranked it back a cpl times then said "Oh we got PLENTY of time":).
Never be another Marty Robbins RIP
Marty has been gone for almost 30 years and still has more talent than any cookie-cutter puppet in Nashville today. A great classic song from a true legend who is sadly forgotten today by anyone under the age of 50. I'm 34...
His voice is unique an his song writing goes with that beautiful voice
.Marty and this song " begging to you " has always been one of my favourites. Love the old country singers and songs.
Do you want to bet I am 77 years old and I'm still listen to Marty Robbins he may be gone for 30 years but he lives on in our hearts and their souls
Oh one of my favourite country singers ever so sorely missed😢 still play his music never forgotten Marty your music still lingers on . The wonderful memories of you are still alive an your music. Gone but not forgotten in my❤ always sadly missed by those whom loved you. Rest in the arms of our lord Jesus.🙏thank you for all the memories Marty.😢❤❤❤❤ 🙏 Hirena Kiwi girl New Zealand.
Always be my favorite
Listen to him every day
I'm 90 yrs old but still love my music.
His music tugs at the heart strings, clear back to the "50s and 60s". He'll always be a #1.
I have to agree. I have loved this man's singing for many years. What makes him so great is that he has a tear in his voice and sings from his heart. This man was very smart too. He knew several languages and played the piano and the guitar. Much of what he did was self learned.
In a class all by Himself, I just wish they would bring back country music like this, instead of the crap they call country now, such a shame.
+Bobby Hutchinson - You couldn´t have said it better. I´m so glad I have a very big collection of the old country, because I wouldn´t even want one of that new crap as present and certainly not buy any of them.
Marty is my all time favorite, HE IS ONE OF A KIND, the KING of Country.
+Ingrid Maier I totally agree with the both of you, he was one class act
I wouldn't trade my CD's of Marty for anything, this is a must listen to, I do,
Nothing I like better than sit listening to Marty sing his ballads
Shirley Lawlor love his singing their no better.

I miss him so much !!!
Last night as I was driving Merle Haggard home from his concert in San Francisco a Marty song came on the radio, he ranted & raved about what a great singer Marty was " No one in country music today can sing that good" !! I believe him to be right !
Always amazed at his ability to remember so many lyrics as were in some of his most famous ballads. Simply incredible artist.
Marty Robbins is the best friend a record ever had.
I absolutely loved Marty Robbins, no one comes close to his talent
He is very much missed , that was country not todays country
I'm glad that there are more young people who like the sound and voice of Marty Robbins.Even my own childern Ilona and Rick like's to listen to the wonderful songs of this great man.And I hope that at the time when I lay my self to rest my kids will keep the flame of this music burning by playing it.I'm sure they will.Your dad and I have a very good feeling about music, and this is very good music.Greetings from Holland the Netherlands

Ms Beaver. That is such a beautiful song. No one could sing a love song like Marty e.g. Tonight Carmen and My Woman my woman my wife.
And Don't Worry bout Me 🥰
Marty is gone but his songs still have a special place in my heart. Miss you Marty.

Better than all that trash they have the Nashville today. Tits and ass it’s horrifying.
I still do this song most every show. Lots of request for it. Marty was a living legend and re.zins a legend.
Beautiful, heartbreaking song. Marty sang so good
A gorgeous song! A great voice!
A #1 hit for the late Marty Robbins on the Country & Western charts. It was the 71st #1 C&W hit in the Rock Era.
there is nobody who can sing better than marty magical
You got that right♥♥♥♥♥
Saw Marty Robbins in Toronto I guess about 40 years ago They put him on last because he didn’t go by the clock and would continue his performance as long as his audience was there enjoying his show No matter what the time schedule was He was one of the Best no doubt
Marty was both a poet and storyteller.
One of my favorite songs also one of my favorite singers that's the kind of country music I grew up on good old days.
Anthony Longest (the best Marty Robbins
Marty and Elvis.....no question the two greatest voices in recorded music history.🎸
a country artist that could really sing great tone and range

SO HEARTFELT AND BEAUTIFUL!
When I was a teenager in the mid-60's, I would stay up till midnight every Friday and Saturday night to catch Marty do the last segment of the Grand Ole Opry on WSM. One of my favorites - then and now.
this and Faron Young are my favorite guys, will Listen to them till I kick the bucket, I'm 73, times are wastin
You know when you come across a song and it just stays in your head, great song from a master, thanks for posting.
This song was on the first 8 track cassette (remember them?) of Marty's that I bought in 1971. Still have it although the case melted in my car in the summer of '76 (remember that?). This is one of my favourite songs of Marty's although, of course, he can do no wrong. Thanks again, Tarquin, for sharing these songs.
So sorry for your loss sometimes the things people feel they have all the answers or there friends do anyway sorry about your losses
@@karenaltman6854 Karen, I'm puzzled by your message. What loss(es)?
One of my favorites that I can halfway play on guitar and barely sing. I certainly don't do it justice, but I love it just the same. Nobody sings like Marty.
My favorite country singer
what a tear jerker song...what a great song...Too bad we don't have talent like that around anymore. I think he had a five octave range in his voice....pretty remarkable. Such a talent, no longer with us.
its hard to imagine that todays country rock will be called classic country thirtyyears from now..after thirty years as a country dj there will never be another marty..ray price faron or george jones..what a voice up there with ray..george..hank..faron..the best of the bunch all those named and so many others to be remembered as country legends i am j. wayne
THOSE FOUR WERE THE BEST I AM 74 and I have heard a lot of greats but It will take a lot to beat those four greatest singers. I agree with you.
This music they call country music is just pop music so I don't even listen to it the only thing I listen to is old country music and rock and roll.
FABULOUS. LOVE THIS SONG AS WELL AS ALL THE SONG'S HE HAS SUNG. WILL LOVE YOU ALWAYS. R.I.P.
why can't we find more people to sing like him ever????
what a voice - left us toooo soon.
thank you. I love this. My favorite singer of all I have heard. Been a fan for 40 years.
The term legendary is fitting to describe Marty Robbins .A truly great talent.
He was one of the best! I loved all his music!! I still listen to it!!
I loss my dad in july of 82and we lost marty in dec 82i will never forget it
Marty and Elvis were just about on an even keel as far as I am concerned. Great voice.
Love them both. Just wish Elvis would have focused on songwriting, as I believe he would have been very good at it.
long gone lonesome blues, moaning the blues and love sick blues he yodels in all of them. a rapid voice break is the same as yodeling.
My kinda country song they just dont make them like that anymore. And that wonderful piano.
Thank you for sharing
I've been looking for a video of Marty with the '50s short clean cut look. He's really handsome here. His voice just goes deep into my soul.
Always loved this guys songs Marty has a great range, still love his sound.
A voice and a style both timeless, and I can tell cause I'm only nineteen years of age. I got hooked on Marty's music years ago, being raised by a father who enjoys his music like no other. And now, yet another perfect and flawless performance and a wonderful song I adore.
Thank you for all the posting, it brings me and my father a lot of joy by just watching and listening to it.
I COMPLETELY AGREE... MY VERY FAVORITE

The late great Marty Robbins,
I left you this morning couldn't take anymore
You laughed and you dared me to walk out the door
You said that I'd come back you knew what I'd do
And you know you were right cause I'm back here tonight begging to you
I won't disappoint you I'm begging to stay
That's what you wanted to hear anyway
It must make you happy to make me so blue
What a pityful sight I must be tonight begging to you
You don't want my loving but you let me stay around
I guess just to walk on so you won't touch the ground
To you it don't matter what you cause me to do
As long as you keep me begging to you
What a pityful sight I must be tonight begging to you
Oh don't want my loving but you let me stay around
I guess just to walk on so you won't touch the ground
To you it don't matter what you cause me to do
As long as you keep me begging to you
As long as you keep me begging to you
love marty
