There's a story I heard where a guy bought a new car he's been saving for for years, and parked it in his garage cell (think parking lot, but every car gets its own locked room). And it just so happened that his garage door lock picked that time to break. He had no option but to leave the car behind doors tied together with copper wire, overnight so he could buy a new lock and install it in the morning. That night, the garage blocks were hit by a crew of thieves. Dozens of cars were stolen, the thieves picked every lock they came across and drove off with whatever was inside. The guy comes back to his garage, to find the doors still held tight by the copper wire, as he left it. The new car, still there waiting for him. The doors were never opened. The thieves left a piece of paper hanging on the wire. "We don't pick such fancy locks."
Criminals round me don't even bother with the lock, they just unscrew the shed door hinge, failing that they get in through a window with a brick from your own garden.
