Got mine last week and I’m loving it. Live view gives you mirrorless capability.
Okay, I already have a Canon aps-c camera with 4 lenses, a flash, intervalometer, filters and more. To switch to Sony would actually cost me several thousand more than the 1200 price for the 90d, plus I wear glasses and have tried both Sony and Canon mirrorless with electronic evf's and I actually prefer the viewfinder on the 80d and 90d.
Yes if you are buying from scratch a mirrorless full frame makes more sense but the 90d is still a very good camera.
I miss the chunkyness of my 90d since upgrading to the S5.
So I added a cage to the S5 to give it some extra chunk in the trunk

Evf for video seems pointless since you've got the rear screen, it's more of a photo specific feature. The 45 focus points is also photo specific with video and live view using a different focusing system. Viewfinder is just a series of mirrors, shouldn't be dark, might be because of the lense filter and being used to an evf that simulates exposure.
The real downsides of this camera are a lack of 4k60, no autofocus in 120fps, no dual card slots, only 8 bit video and crippled hdmi out (Peter Gregg covers that one)
I use EVF for video all the time! It's super useful when filming in bright conditions and also offers more stability since you have the camera planted on yer face.
@@ZachMayfield the point still stands that you said the viewfinder’s DPAF only has 45 points when it doesn’t use DPAF at all. Only the screen’s live view does, like on all Canon DSLRs. The optical viewfinder employs a different focusing system.
LiveView mode on the 90D is practically indistinguishable from mirrorless. When I want a "mirrorless experience" on steroids, I attach a magnifying loupe eyepiece on the rear screen. FAR better than any built-in EVF, with a much bigger picture plus near invulnerability to bright light.
As a Canon user, I am quite inclined toward the 90D, but I totally understand the draw of the mirrorless as well. Anyway, fun video and helpful points to consider
I am a Canon Guy, did start with the 80D, than continued with the M50 and am happy getting the 90d for my channel. It’s easy to grade footage, battery live is what is really important to me and where some of the mirrorless cameras do struggle. Monitoring Audio and having just a reliable camera is what me make pull the trigger. Oh, yeah, the 4K is upscaled. But putting out 2 vids per week is eating up storage. The files i get from the canon are very easy to deal with and not too big. So, it works for me. Good update review there, cheers

Zach, you're hilarious. Love the goofy jokes and sarcasm- I'm getting some solid Office vibes and I'm here for it- and I appreciate that you still bring a deep, thoughtful approach to cameras too. I've been debating starting my own channel with my own natural personality, but lose confidence after breaking down who I am. And then the laziness kicks in of having to setup my gear and what not... Anyway, thanks for showing me another way to approach content creation. It doesn't have to be really structured and professional to still be "good", whatever that means, lol. It just needs to be genuine. Oh, and also STARTED. I need to just start creating whatever I think of and not think so much, haha.

whenever they decide to start making adult sized mirrorless cameras, i'll buy one, so far though, it's these tiny dumb shaped mini cameras and i hate them, i don't feel the need to hide my camera, battery tech cant keep up with a tiny body electronic viewfinder, etc, i can take my 90D and the battery grip on a 5 or 6 day camping trip and not need to charge anything, i can take thousands of photos and record hours and hours of videos, a mirrorless, so far as i can tell, cant do that, also i have not noticed the view finder being "dark" when it's light outside the view finder is fine, but you can just go into live view and then the focus boxes change colors and work better anyways.
i'm not sure why everything has to be a battle, or competition, why cant the DSLR's just exist along side mirrorless cameras, mirrorless isn't better then dslrs to every single person and dslrs are not better than mirrorless to every single person i like them both, but i like dslr better simply because they fit my big hands better, i can walk around with it all day and never feel like i'ma drop it or set it down and forget where i placed it. great video, i really liked it. i just bought a 90D a month or so ago and it's fantastic
Sir I have planned to buy 90d for wedding purposes.. Thats all my budget.. Hope there may not be much differences in image quality from full frame cameras.. like sony a 7 iii, I fear to buy sony a 7 iii .. because it's smaller size and fear my customers may think I am using a budget camera for wedding..
Mate your videos is good. But try to use proper lens on 90d , because its sensor is big and pixels are tight of 32MP . . you are using wrong gear with wrong product for wrong sceneries. Especially with that filter
Also for that close up either 50MM usm or macros . Camera is really good . I do have one . Problem with Sony is camera itself adding extra touch up on photos

Hi, I’ve stumbled down the rabbit hole of wanting to replace/upgrade my camera. I currently have a (now discontinued) canon 200d which was perfect for my first ever camera. Mainly used for video and some photography. Now I’m really , really REALLY needing some advice … deciding whether to go for canon 90d, canon mark 5d iv, or canon R7 . The R7 looks attractive to me because of : the autofocus capabilities and the newer technology that come with mirrorless , I’m scared because of not knowing how to use it compared to my traditional camera , I’m embarrassed to say I have only ever used auto on my camera but I’m going to learn how to use manual. Also slightly worried about the ‘overheating’ rumours/problems with mirrorless, but apparently shouldn’t be an issue if I don’t intend to do shoot 30min + .. I’m interested in the canon mark iv because it seemed EVERYONE thinks it’s a beast and amazing but then after research I saw it’s better primarily for photography AND it doesn’t have a flip out screen (a feature I currently have and love) and then obviously the 90d …. I think is a really really good option as it’s a step up (several steps) to what I have and probably the most familiar one I’d be used to .. just scared of thinking the R7 is more superior I think is my problem… would really appreciate your thoughts. FYI I’m an amateur ..
Viewfinder is dark...mate you have an ND in front of the lens...

@@Aviciiz aaah, your stupidity knows no bound. you must be a hobbyist that have never been on a shooting. listen you don't know what it feels to be paid on the field. many dp need a viewfinder because not even a monitor is viewable on a bright day. Also a viewfinder is a third point of contact for stabilization.
so just because you don't use it, doesn't mean no one use it. Hope this showcases how narrow minded and stupid you are thinking that your usecases are the only usecases in the world. Long form photography is also an example.

1. Electronic view finders are awful. 2. 25 megapixel on the Sony = downgrade. 3. Mirrorless is majorly overpriced for now may change in the future. 4. DSLR is most likely never gonna fully die aps-c has its pros and cons but the pros will keep the platform around.

Dude!! Amazing work! The only issue I’ve had with the 90d is the face tracking gets blurry when I move away from the camera. I’m assuming it’s due to glass being a lil on the cheap side. Tried with canon 24mm f2.8, canon 50mm f1.8, canon 10-18mm f4.5 zoom lense and get same shitty blurry results when I step back more than 5ft. Always entertaining/inspiring content good sir. Yur killin it!
are you using viewfinder of rear screen, rear screen is way better.

I got the canon 90D camera and I use my canon 50MM EF 1.2L and My canon 35MM EF 1.4L lens and not dark looking through the view finder at all including OUT DOORS NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY including in PARKS OR Places where is DARK
My main purpose is shooting birds. Would you consider it an upgrade from CANON M50 to 90D when it comes to auto focus speed or both are same in that dept?

It misses a second card slot and its apsc. Depends on the gig you mean. Weddings? No, there you want a second card slot for safety and a full frame with very good shots in the dark and bokeh for the background. Its doable (shot a wedding with a 70d) but when you want to be paid for it, i would prefer full frame and a second card slot. They dont redo a wedding when your card has an error or your shots in the dark are blurry.

@@brandondunn-moodie1544 I recently bought the 90d as upgrade from the 70d (mainly because of the joystick, i like the better resolution/detail too, but to be truthful i didnt felt that the 70d was lacking in image quality so much, that i needed the upgrade), its a good and nice camera. But yes when i would win my bread by photography i would most likely use it as backup, as secondary camera or a camera i would give an assistant to shoot with, or when i can profit from the crop factor (uses the better part of a full frame lense as it doesnt use the whole lense, it already crops for me, what can be beneficial). It can make really good pictures and is really great for video (When video is the main focus of the work, it would make a pretty good main camera (where you not pay a fortune for a cinema camera).
But much is personal preference. I dont like evfs as i dont want the feeling to look into a screen that is pretty close to my eye the whole time (for me it takes away imersion from the scene, my eyes getting tired when i use an evf the whole day, what doesnt happen with a optical viewfinder) and last but not least, i dont want to see an approximation of the picture i take (i want to imagine how i want it to look like and than to think how to set my camera, make the picture and than see how it looks.
Its surely helpful to see, a preview of the shot beforehand, but as said, i dont like that, it takes out a bit of the fun of photograpy for me. But that can also be my age, as a kid and teen i shot with an analog camera (as digital didnt really exist (heck mobile phones didnt exist back then too, as i am 40 years old) so i grew up with optical view/range-finders, what most likely also influences my preferences and workflow with a camera nowadays.
90D is good one . I have one . It's really good . In fact, canon rolls out cameras every year . 90 D is good to go for atheist till 2024 or 2025.. I tried 2000D, 250D, 850D, R6 R5, and 90 D . 90 D is worth unless your job is taking photos and videos everyday . If you have work everyday , I mean a journalist, then go for Big ones .. if just a studio photographer with once a week wedding and funeral , then 90D is enough . Almost same clarity on pics when it's print out. Finally, it's all depends on your wallet size. If you are above tax code then buy big one as you can claim when file tax

Capturing horse is the primary use for my 90D.
As a man with the hands size of goblins; I stuck with the mirrorless system when I was upgrading from my M50, I was gonna go with the 90d but feels like there's other cameras in that price range that offered more. That's when I became a juicer :D

Take just a 4-8gb card from time to time, that makes you think more about the pictures and you learn much more about your camera...
You mixed the af methods. The dual pixel has far more than 45 af points as its the whole height of the sensor and around 90% of the width and doesnt use the af sensor (only used through the viewfinder, as it cant work when the mirror is up).
They launched a mirrorless camera with very similar specs already with the canon m6 II

For me this camera is not at all up to what we say. An 18Mp photo is more perfect than this 32Mp. Even an amateur should not buy this camera.
This review compares 90D with Sony ZV. Just see the difference in MP. If somebody is looking for a budget camera then they might as well shoot with their latest smartphones or buy an action camera. If they really need a camera then maybe M50 or sony zv. But comparing 90D with zv doesn't make any sense. Although, for videos it is a bit debatable because cheaper cameras are offering 4k videos and you can of course buy a better lens. I still believe that 90d is an amazing camera and I would go for it if I could. :D

Canon 90 d great camera....and yes is dark...but...go to live view...menu...go to the #2... Expo simulation....disable....fixed.....

XT4 is fantastic, especially as a daily shooter. Classig Neg. has a really nostalgic vibe. Havent tried 105mm though.
