- Our first caravan road trip! We had so much fun figuring things out, learning how to set up, reverse and even just drive a 4WD with the caravan attached. Our first two nights saw us visit Esk and Gympie, both in Queensland! Here's a look at our first few days experiencing the caravan lifestyle as complete beginners, what we ate, where we stayed, what we did and so much more! In episode two, next week, we'll be taking you to one of our favourite places in Queensland.

Just a tip, I would travel in New South Wales atm, The weather is perfect not too hot. Then explore Queensland when the wet season passes and the temperature is cooler

What a fun trip! We really enjoy camping and have always wanted to be able to caravan like that. I’m sure it would be a dream to do out in Australia. Such a blessing to be around such natural beauty. I’m excited to see more of your trip. Be safe!
Totally agree! Australia is the dream place to do it - there's so much ground to cover (much like the US) Being able to drive, take your time and stop along the way is just a wonderful way to experience it. Looking forward to doing a full lap of the country one day :) P xx

A nice trip down memory lane. Lived in Esk around 2002-2005 and restored the property that is now Nash Gallery & Cafe. Back in my day we were Esk Historical Homestead. Wonderful to see the old house and town again. Doubt I’ll ever see it again. Live in New Jersey now.

Hey Matt & Phoebe, looks like you mastered the what we call camping with a caravan. And what a beautiful spot to caravan. Especially you had bathroom facilities. Most of our campgrounds have outhouses!! You live in a beautiful country and the beaches are magnificent. We are so glad we got to visit Australia 4 years ago!! Congrats on a successful caravan trip. You are naturals for it.

Yesss the adventure begins! Will have to try this caravanning at some point. Like you, I've only ever used a motorhome in the past, never backed up any sort of trailer. Great video guys! Top editing as usual!
Episode one - down! I think you're going to love next week's, Ben! Yeah, it was pretty great having the caravan experience after the motorhome one - we really liked being able to unhook the living quarters and still be able to drive around and have total freedom (as you'll see next week hehe). Fantastic getting away
This was so much fun to watch. A wild Koala in Esk was a treat. I keep saying this but you guys should be the hosts of Great South East or Queensland Weekender on Channel Seven.
They kept telling us we might see a Koala but I didn't think we actually would! Apparently the one we saw is from a family of them who live there and she was actually born in the park - so cute! Oh man :D thank you so so so so much! That's just put a huge smile on my face!!! We'll get there one day!
That town looks so nice! These vids (much as I love them) are leaving me a bit frustrated knowing that we will not get too far this summer. 😔 Fingers crossed for 2022. That looks way cooler than the caravan holidays I had as a kid. Lookin forward to next week's show.
Where do you want your first trip to be when travel resumes again?? When we can go overseas I’ll be keen to go ANYWHERE 😂
@@travelforphoebe I'm not even sure. I fancy South East Asia again. Camboda or Thailand maybe. A South African lady I was speaking to this morning was singing the praises of Mauritius. I wouldn't snub a Europen holiday but I have seen a fair chunk of it. Bali spoiled me in 2019.

Haha I love the way Matt didn’t expect his seat to lay back at 0:56 😂. I like the Aussie culture of public kitchens such as barbecues and pizza ovens. That caravan looks wonderful. Much more spacious than the one my parents had back in the days. Cutting a pumpkin is a hell of a job, you could call that exercise 😅. I love the quietness of campings and the sound of birds while waking up 👌. That koala at 12:35 😍. I didn’t know you could literally pack your caravan as in lowering the roof, is that to save fuel? Smart Aussies. My experience in Aussie was that eating glutenfree was much easier there than it is back home here in The Netherlands. I really miss the Aussie glutenfree bread. Thanks for sharing your road trip and caravan experience. Let’s hope we can get a COVID-19 jab soon 💉 and travel abroad again. Have a great week 🤙

Vinnies is short for St Vincent De Paul. It’s an organisation that helps people in need. They have shops that sell affordable and pre-owned goods
hahaha thanks Suj! This was such a good question - made me realise I'm just dropping Australian words into stuff with absolutely no context! I also love that businesses just adopt these slang words and slap them on signs... St Vincent De Paul signage usually just says, 'Vinnies' hahah and McDonalds have 'Maccas' on the sign too hahaha God, I love this country!
