Thank you great video. Do you have to worry about heat with the 4408? I would think that it will get quite hot in Southern California sun. Would you recommend a fan someplace? Glad you did another large scale and battery install.
Our decoders are tested at extreme temperatures to take climate into account so you should not have to add a fan. You can discuss this further with our Support Team: 9970)259-0690 or support@soundtraxx.com. Thanks for reaching out!
I heard that you can used the PnP adapter board from bachmann to make the install on these socketed aristocraft models. People say only issue when doing that is you lose functionality of lights control.
I am aware of these jumper boards, but I don;t use them. why? The wires all do not necessarily reach where they need to go, so for better long-term reliability, and to also reduce the need to "grow" wires to match, i usually just hard-wire it in. That way I know the wires are correct, and it reduces the space taken up inside. As you saw here, there was not much space with the battery Gary got, so I had to remove the original PCB anyway to make room for the battery. And one of the issues with losing the lights is for whatever reason (I have not gone in to see why) but they need the ground connected inside the Bachmann models using their PCBs. I believe it has something to do with the interoperability of the USA DC operation and the UK Operation, opposite polarity, of course! But i have not delved into it enough to be concerned. I hope this helps. ~G

I would have replaced the 12v bulbs with LEDs to increase the efficiency and run time of the locomotive.
That is not a bad idea.
