this video was one of those break through moments for me with my improvising, THIS is how you break out of the loop of playing the same old boring stuff with scale runs in between in your improvising.
Bought a Synyster Gates Schecter custom back in November, and now I feel like my skill level doesn't deserve it. I've got to get back into watching these videos and practicing. Bernth is, by far, the best guitar teacher I've found.
I tell every musician I know about Bernth's awesome lessons! It really is amazing he doesn't have at least 1 million subscribers here! His Patreon is a gold mine too btw..
It is great how your simple and direct lessons make everything seem basic and manageable. One step at a time, anyone can make immense progress. I play bass now, and will adapt your exercises to my playing.
Firstly, now I know your Austrian, not German. Apologies for that. Secondly. Dude I have saved so many videos and am still working through perfecting your 15 min play along. Once that’s down, the warm up play along. Then I can move on to about fo e other videos to get my practice and shredding on the evolution journey. Plus that musical theory. No idea how to organize all this but thank you so much for the top content. Your new album has been heard at least three times throughout. Thanks bud. Much love from Singapore.
I started playing guitar when I was thirteen and used to play for hours sometimes 12 hours a day because I loved it so much the last 8 years I haven't played much and I've missed it so much. I decided I'm going full send I'm 38 now and the resources are so much better now. I learned all that I knew from books like guitar grimiore series and rock books tab and playing a crapload of improvisation. I'm gonna go all in full send and come out of my dungeon a guitar diety. I want to thank you bernth for sparking my lost life passion I really missed it.
Something about your channel, man. You’re so authentic and down to earth. You’re super encouraging. I can hear it in your voice, every video you upload, I just hear, “If I can do it, you can too.” And I believe you!
I've been teaching guitar for a little over half a year now and I have one student who is advanced beyond the rest and I always feel like it's a struggle to find new and interesting techniques for our lessons. Watching this video has really helped me get a feel for new way I can bring my lessons to a new place and really start to make some progress! Great video, amazing teaching style, keep it up!
Didn't play guitar for over an year due to the pandemic just Bought a new Ibanez and HOLY FUCKKK IT FEELS SO FKING GOOD TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS AFTER SO LONG AND FINALLY PLAYY/LEARN ALONG. Love your videos
Was messing around with the thirds a bit just getting my fingers used to it and what not. Ended up noodling for a bit afterwards and my fingers accidentally hopped around with the thirds while improvising and couldn't believe how much better that sounded than my usual ascending and descending. Great tips as usual, Bernth. Wish I had a teacher like you locally for some face to face lessons and jams!
This kind of public content is just so awesome to see a master shredder provide to us lesser metal-based beings - and this commitment to free knowledge for your fans is a big reason I jump in to subscribe in Patreon as well. _Shred_ _Every_ _Day_ !
This is an awesome exercise! I've been using patterns in 3rds and 4ths in my soloing for a while now. Really breaks up the monotony when shredding through solos.
I'm really glad I came across this channel. I quit playing the guitar several years ago when I started focusing more on drums. I absolutely love drums, but there was a certain feeling of frustration about having quit the guitar without having ever reached a more decent level at playing it. I suffered an accident four months ago, and I broke my left forearm; I've been of course unable to play with my bands since then. The impossibility of playing music took me to a place in which I could analyze it from a different perspective, and from there, I decided to record a solo album (maybe just to share with my family and friends). Having watched and practiced along just a couple of your videos, I found the dissonances I hadn't found before, and whenever I have some free time from my jobs, I come to study; I finally feel I can progress! Now, when I record my album, I'll have to thank my two Austrian masters, Marthyn and Bernth, for the theory they have put within my reach. Greetings from South America lml lml
I've been thinking. Will we ever get to watch you your videos shot outdoor with grasses, trees, mountains, roads, buildings etc. Not that any of your videos are boring or anything like that. In fact, all your videos are insanely awesome. It's just that, I've never watched your videos outdoor. 😁 And as always, awesome video🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Read the title and for the first one minute, i'm already know, this is what i want to do all these years. Then i subscribe. Your channel would be a great channel because it may lot of great works. Bravo!
Ohrfeige I have learned more from watching your videos than I have in 15 years of basic practice methods and jam sessions. I have learned even more in the last three months from the archive on Patreon. Keep up the incredible content and always shred!
Thank you got the shared knowledge! Sixth = six, which ends in that S sound, jam your tongue between your upper and lower teeth while still S-ing, then pull it back out while still S-ing. Sixths. It's not the easiest.
Ohrfeige. The Dutch word for it ("oorveeg") would be translated as "ear sweep". As a shredder. I am a big fan of this ancient and long forgotten technique.
Any 'A' minor scale is ACE! Hahha you're vids are amazing. The editing, the animations, the knowledge...all of a really high quality. You're turning me into a shred god!
Bernth, thank you, i am a bit frustrated with the guitar because of my job, but your videos cheer me up and make me practice properly with just a few hours per week, thanks! \m/
Great job. The idea early in the vid where you talked about 3rds, 4ths and 6ths reminded me a little bit of some advice I got a long time ago. I was told to pick a note in your scale and leave it out. Like a 5th for example. Then try to do a solo without using it. When I was skipping those notes, it was really opening my eyes for how to play without going up and down scales.
Happy to see you become self-consciously witty with those subtle memic inclusions while remaining on point with guitar stuff. Boi, with this attitude you're heading for the top of guitar YT in no time... Also, Ohrfeige
Man, this is so good... And instead of following the tab, I've just been trying to do the 3rds, 4ths and 6ths from memory. Think I've had an epiphany on how to learn scales in an interesting way due to this. Since finding you accidentally on youtube around oct 2020, while trying to get better at lead playing for a solo project I started in lockdown, I've actually found the discipline to practice, and enjoy it!
Thank you for making these videos, well made and I love the way you break everything down piece by piece. I'm excited to learn how to play even faster than I already do
My favourite pattern is 4ths descending, although is the hardest one for me because I think that the transition trough all the strings is very hard to do with alternate picking, especially with a descending scale line
Prima, das kommt auf die Übungsliste für morgen! Die intervallsprünge sind auch eine tolle Übung zum Einprägen der Tonleitern. Aber it's a pain in the... hands. (brain, actually) ;) Aber das Gefühl gehört zum Lernen irgendwie dazu und macht mir mittlerweile Spaß. Danke für eine neue, tolle Übung!
I'm have been problems when i try to identify the chords in a complex harmony... Please more lessons about chords and harmony 🇧🇷🇧🇷 see you in the next video
I'm gonna work those patterns but while watching. I had a thought "amazingly". Do like you do with a pentitonic run play up 5. Then back up a note or string. Rip off 5 more. Kinda of a Zack Wylde or how Rick Emmit would do alot. Lay it on the Line solo for example.Deep South U.S. word of the day. You the man "Bubba!"
Man if someone ever builds a time machine, I want to go back a decade and teach my younger self all of this stuff. But seriously, the content and style on this channel is outstanding!
This is epic! Been really stuck in a rut with my playing, and your videos are really helping me get out of it! Thanks and Cheers from Sri Lanka! Oh and also, OHRFEIGE! 🔥

Ohrfeige!!
Bernth - we simply don't deserve you man. Never will there be a better teacher than you. Thank you for everything!
Bless you dude.
I'm getting much better learning from this channel.
Its like "you have to walk on flames barefoot to be able to walk on pebbles with no pain"
