  • I save all of my shop bought jars for various purposes, these particular ones are great for pressure canning chicken. I have used pickle jars to pressure can pork and beef as they are a larger size. It's not unsafe to use these jars and I've never had any problems by using them. I think tomorrow I'll waterbath some fejoa and rhubarb jam with a little lilly-pilly mixed in. Apparently fejoas are loaded with pectin so it should set well and have interesting flavours.

Thankyou Anita, I'm going to buy more chicken next week to can before the prices go through the roof. Might do a video on canning it however I'll use ball jars this time.💐🩷

Of all the things that I can, I think the chicken is my favorite. It makes the best chicken salad and comes in so handy. Good job.👍

Thankyou, I can just eat it straight out of the jar. I messed up the last batch using a way too hot chilli flakes in each jar. It'll get used soon enough but this time I kept it plain. 🙃

Hi Christa, I enjoyed your video, I too reuse jars as you show here. I use pasta jars. My grandmother sealed jars with wax. Here in the USA there are many homesteaders canning as their grandmothers or mothers did. Some call it rebel canning, I do it because it doesn’t fail me and saves money. I like your content and subscribed.😊 Have a wonderful day.

@Grammysgarden Hi and thanks for subbing, 🩷 I use the screw cap jars because here in Australia the mason jars are extremely expensive. I do have a fair few of them but they were bought some years ago when they were still a reasonable price and quality. Have a lovely day. 😊🌞

Hi Christa. I don't have to much experience with preserving and have only ever done veg and fruit. Is the process for chicken just slicing and boiling to cook and then follow through with jarring? My neighbor was saying to me a couple of days ago that he wanted to smoke some meat because that was the only way that you could keep it from spoiling. Is there a time limit on shelf life? I look forward to seeing more of your videos 🙂

Hi, 1st, you need a pressure canner not pressure cooker, there's one called the Presto and another called All American Canner. You simply chop the meat pork, beef, game or chicken then process the jars according to a safe and tested method. They say 2 years but I've had it on the shelf for much longer and it's still good. Thanks for popping over.
